An approach to the building of adaptive user interfaces (UIs) based on their semantic model (semantic-based design) is described in the article. Network programming is the act of writing computer codes for communications between programs or processes in different computers across networks. It is crucial for applications and services using networks, including e-commerce, gaming, and social media. However, university courses of educating it are very limited. As a result, it has become important to develop and offer IT tools to support self-studies of network programming by novices. In this paper, we present a study of two types of introductory exercise problems, namely, Grammar-concept Understanding Problem (GUP) and Comment Insertion Problem (CIP), for self-studies of five basic network protocols of TCP/IP, ARP, SMTP, POP3, and SSH with Python. A GUP instance requests to answer the keyword such as a library function in the given source code that corresponds to the grammar concept described in the question. A CIP instance requests to insert the comment at each blank of the code. String matching is adopted to mark any answer at the browser-based answer interface. through solving them, it is expected to understand the meaning of important words and the code structure for network programming. As preliminary evaluations, we generated six GUP and CIP instances respectively, and assigned them to 10 students in Okayama University, Japan. the results confirmed that the proposal is proper for novices to learn network programming with Python. © 2023 ACM.

Recently, there are growing security and privacy concerns regarding smart voice speakers, such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Extensive prior research has shown that it is surprisingly easy to infer Amazon Alexa voice commands over their network tra!c data. To prevent these tra!c analytics (TA)-based inference attacks, smart home owners are considering deploying virtual private networks (VPNs) to safeguard their smart speakers. In this work, we design a new machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL)powered attack framework—VoiceAttack that could still accurately "ngerprint voice commands on VPN-encrypted voice speaker network tra!c. We evaluate VoiceAttack under 5 di#erent real-world settings using Amazon Alexa and Google Home. Our results show that VoiceAttack could correctly infer voice command sentences with a Matthews Correlation Coe!cient (MCC) of 0.68 in a closed-world setting and infer voice command categories with an MCC of 0.84 in an open-world setting by eavesdropping VPN-encrypted network tra!c rates. this presents a signi"cant risk to user privacy and security, as it suggests that external on-path attackers could still potentially intercept and decipher users’ voice commands despite the VPN encryption. We then further examine the sensitivity of voice speaker commands to VoiceAttack. We "nd that 134 voice speaker commands are highly vulnerable to VoiceAttack and 3 commands are less sensitive. We also present a proof-of-concept defense approach—VoiceDefense, which could e#ectively mitigate TA attack accuracy on Amazon Echo and Google Home by →50%. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

With the rapid development of science and technology, especially the rapid progress of the Internet, the e-commerce industry has ushered in unprecedented development opportunities. However, existing e-commerce platforms still have many problems in terms of user experience and functionality, such as the lack of accuracy in the recommendation system, inconsistency in product descriptions, and lack of reliability in user reviews. In this paper, we design and implement an online shopping mall system based on Spring Boot and Vue framework, aiming to improve user experience through advanced information technology and optimization algorithms. the system is developed in Java language, and the architecture is divided into Filter/Interceptor Layer, Controller Layer, Service Layer, and Dao Layer, which ensures the efficiency and maintainability of the system. the introduction of collaborative filtering algorithms significantly improves the accuracy of product recommendations, provides personalized services, and improves the user shopping experience. Meanwhile, the dynamically updated sensitive word filtering mechanism safeguards the healthy environment of the comment area and improves user trust. the experimental results show that the system achieves the expected goals in terms of functionality and performance, which provides a reference and reference for the development of future e-commerce platforms. © 2024 the Authors. Distributed algorithm design and execution has been a central aspect of evolutionary computation research ever since. Be it to spread and balance workload over many computational nodes to improve runtime performance, or to facilitate new algorithmic strategies, such as co-evolutionary approaches, for instance, to optimize convergence behavior. Although many software-research projects support distributed evolutionary computation, we see potential to further improve the usability of respective algorithm design. In this paper, we present a containerized software system, incorporating a domain specific design language, to address this issue. the performed experiments prove the developed system’s applicability and support further research leads. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

this study examines the significant advancements in computer graphics and mechanical drawing, with an emphasis on how these developments have revolutionised engineering design precision and visualisation. For engineers and designers, integrating cutting-edge computer-aided design (CAD) tools and visualisation technologies has become crucial as sectors continue to adapt to issues that are ever more complex. the study focusses on significant developments that improve design accuracy and enable detailed visual representations of engineering concepts, including augmented reality (AR), simulation methods, and 3D modelling. Professionals can streamline the engineering workflow by using CAD software to produce complex drawings that are both exact and easily customisable. Before physical prototyping takes place, decision-making based on examination of the product's performance under different conditions is made possible by the integration of simulation modelling. Furthermore, by offering immersive experiences that let stakeholders see and interact with 3D models in actual settings, augmented reality applications transform design assessments. the research emphasises the importance of these advances in enhancing engineering teams' cooperation, efficiency, and communication through a thorough examination of them. the ultimate goal of this research is to pinpoint future paths for the integration of computer graphics and mechanical drawing, opening the door for improved engineering design and development processes.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurological disorder that affects the functioning of the brain and is frequently associated with problems related to feelings, thoughts, language, as well as difficulties in social interactions. the goal of this project is to develop therapeutic home furniture, focused on children with ASD in the age group of 2 to 6 years old, the one with the highest prevalence of diagnostics and where the best results are likely to be achieved if therapy is started early. Five product proposals have been developed: bed, sensory pouf, tent, ball pool and swivel chair. the products were designed following interviews and questionnaires with occupational therapists and parents/caregivers, with a key characteristic targeted being the fostering of the child's interactivity with other persons. Each product has the possibility of applying sensory maps as well as extra textures and shapes, with neutral and calm colors being used in accordance with the research done. A natural fabric called Burel was abundantly used in the products due to its many advantageous properties that can be used to bring benefits in the sensory and cognitive development of children with ASD. Applying the fabric beyond the usual, for tactile and kinesthetic properties.

this paper aims at a preliminary research on designing a hybrid mechanism inspired by human leg's musculoskeletal architecture and locomotion capabilities. Complexity of the workspace solution in serial-parallel mechanisms limits the design approach. In order to have an estimation from the human leg geometry and reachable workspace, a dataset is collected from the human leg of 10 females and 10 males. In addition to the measurements done on the dimensions of this population, the reachable workspace of their leg is observed using MediaPipe pose estimation model. this is done by capturing full movement of the human leg for each person in front of two cameras. On the other hand, the musculoskeletal system of the human leg reveals that two serially attached parallel mechanisms are well-suited for the design. the upper mechanism, which is the thigh mechanism, includes 6 UPS links as the actuators, and a US constraint link to avoid elongation in the leg. Similarly, 3 UPS and a S constraint link form the lower mechanism. Two mathematical models based on geometric approaches are derived for the mechanisms. In order to reach a workspace fitted to that of human leg, an optimization process is performed on the mechanism. Due to the complexity of the whole model's workspace, the optimization process is done on the upper mechanism to reach its maximum workspace. Based on the ratios between thigh and calf dimensions, the lower mechanism's design parameters are obtained, and its workspace is verified to be optimal. Afterwards, a simple geometric calculation of the whole mechanism is done and compared with the results of workspace observation using MediaPipe. A brief simulation is done on the upper mechanism in two different movements in order to select suitable actuators based on the required forces. Finally, forward kinematics problem of the mechanism is solved and validated by performing simulations. © 2023 IEEE.

the value proposition canvas introduced in 2015 by Pigneur et al. is broadly used by entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs to create new services and products. We decided to apply it for collaborative and blended design thinking activities in a specialization in human-computer interaction for master students in computer and data sciences. While being very useful, the original value proposition canvas relies on a business-oriented vocabulary not familiar to science and engineering students. Moreover, its underlying profit-oriented objective makes it difficult to focus on impact and trust-oriented design activities. In this paper, we propose two alternative value proposition canvases, one dedicated to sustainability for development and one to explainability for artificial intelligence. the motivations why and the ways how these alternative canvases were elicited and used in higher education are also discussed. © 2022 IEEE.

Many creative generative design spaces contain multiple regions with individuals of high aesthetic value. Yet traditional evolutionary computing methods typically focus on optimisation, searching for the fittest individual in a population. In this paper we apply quality-diversity search methods to explore a creative generative system (an agent-based line drawing model). We perform a random sampling of genotype space and use individual artist-assigned evaluations of aesthetic quality to formulate a computable fitness measure specific to the artist and this system. To compute diversity we use a convolutional neural network to discriminate features that are dimensionally reduced into two dimensions. We show that the quality-diversity search is able to find multiple phenotypes of high aesthetic value. these phenotypes show greater diversity and quality than those the artist was able to find using manual search methods.
