the proposed study examines the simultaneous influence of factors (environment, type of task, and product properties) upon functional user states that critically affect assessor performance during the realization of various online tasks. In addition, test environment format varies as individual vs. group one, to assess whether testing conditions affect the test results. the test uses two types of tasks that, respectively, induce user functional states of anxiety and monotony/fatigue. Differences in product features are represented by two university website layouts with high and low aesthetic quality, as measured by website aesthetic quality index (U-index, our earlier elaboration). We have employed two groups of metrics to measure user performance, directed at both cognitive and emotional components of the user states. For cognitive efficiency, intellectual lability and productivity of cognitive operations were assessed. Emotional stress was measured by four metrics of self-assessment, namely the level of anxiety, fatigue, excitement, and confidence. Two assessor groups were put in conditions of individual vs. group task solving. Within each group, sub-groups were assigned either anxiety-inducing or fatigue-inducing tasks. For each task, subgroups worked with webpages of either high (U-index > 17) or low (U-index < 8) aesthetic quality. As the test results show, group task solving enhances the synchronous impact of website aesthetics and task features upon the user states. Interaction of high-quality design, group environment, and a monotonous task provides for an antagonistic effect: aesthetic layout in a group environment significantly reduces the fatigue rate. Low aesthetic quality in a group environment leads to cumulative effects in combination with any type of task: for monotonous tasks, it contributes to the development of fatigue, while for anxiety-inducing tasks it grows anxiety, and, in both cases, productivity drops.

To solve the problems of different space-based application platforms, lack of unified specifications and poor real-time performance, this paper proposes a design scheme of space-based cloud server based on Docker cluster, drawing on the container technology and cloud native architecture used by ground cloud computing. the computing module of the space-based cloud server realizes network communication through the route switching module, and integrates a high-capacity storage module to complete data access. the real-time operating system running integrated container services on the computing module and the lightweight container cluster management framework realize the dynamic deployment and orchestration of space-based container applications. the design framework has been verified in the space-based cloud server prototype, and the test results show that the framework achieves universal high-performance computing, virtual resource integration scheduling, and autonomous task migration. In the future, it can be deployed to space-based satellite clusters to provide users with space-based cloud information services, including universal high-performance computing, information intelligent processing, etc. © 2023, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

A novel wearable reconfigurable patch antenna is presented for wireless body-area applications at 2.4 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) band. Textile and clothing materials are solely employed within the wearable antenna design process and reconfiguration mechanism. Specifically, by engaging or disengaging four pairs of metallic snap-on buttons, the textile antenna can exhibit an omnidirectional radiation pattern with linear polarization or a broadside radiation pattern with circular polarization enabling both on- and off-body wireless communication, respectively. A multi-layer tissue phantom is applied to emulate a realistic wearing environment. the resonance and radiation performance characteristics of the proposed antenna are examined in both radiation states. A parametric analysis regarding key design parameters is conducted. the specific absorption rate (SAR) is, also, assessed in terms of safety. © 2023, ICST Institute for computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

the Web of things (IoT), which aids in the creation opportunities to meet various business requirements, support in improving company activities, create and interact with the customers for effective delivery of goods and services, has seen overall expansion and development fueled by the dynamic business environment. the utilization of IoT and similar solutions has expanded, raising concerns about security vulnerabilities and the crucial actions that management must take to safeguard data and improve operational efficiency. the study focuses more on analyzing the key elements of IoT technologies that an organization may utilize to protect itself from security threats and take the necessary countermeasures to achieve sustainable growth. Each kind of network intrusion is thought to be linked around one or more different architectural levels;as a result, suitable authenticity, confidentially, and validation need to be established for greater protection. SPSS is utilized in the study's qualitative research design to analyses the data and offer insight based on the findings. © 2022 IEEE.

designing a learning platform for K-12 students implies didactic foundations translated into an IT solution. GamesHUB is an example where an interdisciplinary team combined their theoretical backgrounds to think, design, and create with a clear view to learning. After several assessments of teachers' perceptions that helped to design GamesHUB in an iterative and agile process, this paper finally presents the first documented tests of the learning platform in four K-12 classrooms (N = 76). An adapted E-gameFlow-simplified for 8- to 10year-old students-was used to evaluate the learning experience and satisfaction. Results indicate that self-reported concentration, perceived challenge, autonomy, and immersion were considered high. the reported experience through drawings and keywords adds to the hypothesis that GamesHUB is generating flow. However, these results need to be expended to confirm the impact and help the next steps of development. It invites the designing team to keep a similar layout and a similar student experience in the future development and tests of GamesHUB.

Due to demographic change and the aging of the population, diseases such as strokes are expected to increase over the years. In this situation, the medical sector is reaching its capacity limits, making any solution that takes over time-intensive treatments that can be standardised relevant for the future. In this paper, a mechanism for finger rehabilitation therapy is presented. After identifying the requirements, a detailed investigation of the current situation of hand rehabilitation devices is presented. A working prototype for fingers is designed and built to show the capabilities of the mechanism. It can be operated independently and is adaptable to different hand sizes. the prototype consists of a linear microdrive connected to the finger mechanism via Bowden cables. Additive manufacturing (AM) was mainly used as the production method. the prototype was successfully tested on four people with hands of different sizes. It allowed an actuation of 85 to 110° for all joints. Different settings of the Bowden cable allow the actuation of different sections of the finger. Dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) and vehicle to everything communications are now is the key research area as there are numerous internet of things (1oT) applications and to ensure road safety. As there is a limited space available on the vehicles to mount the antennas therefore it is necessary to embed multifunctional antennas and this requirement can only be fulfilled by low profile patch antennas. this paper presents the design of slotted antenna array operating at 5.8 GHz in C-band for DSRC and WLAN applications and it also resonate at 9.8 GHz for vehicle to satellite, Satellite-borne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and radio navigation applications. After simulations, the design is fabricated and the simulated and measured reflection coefficient agree well.

Retinal blood vessels are the arteries and veins that supply blood to the human eye. Fundus images obtained through a fundus camera capture retinal information like, the macula, optic disc, cup, fovea, retinal blood vessels, and abnormalities. the retinal blood vessels are miniature and are usually measured in micrometers. It is difficult and time-consuming to study retinal vessels from a fundus image. Generally, a detailed vessel study requires costly equipment like Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT) and is comparatively less available at hospitals than a fundus camera. Blood vessels are connected throughout the body. Studying retinal blood vessel health can help ophthalmologists and doctors understand the overall health of blood vessels across the body non-invasively. Narrowing of blood vessels can make a person prone to many diseases, like hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. A few methods aim to automate the task using computer aided Diagnosis (CAD). the work proposes a novel and relatively less complex algorithm for calculating the diameter of a given retinal blood vessel at a given distance from the optic disc center in a fundus image. the approach aims to compute the artery-to-vein diameter ratio of retinal blood vessels at a given distance from the center of the optic disc. the proposed method has been tested on the LES-AV 2020 dataset and it achieved an approximate artery-to-vein diameter ratio (AVR) of 2:3, which is in line with the average healthy AVR in the literature. therefore, the proposed method is accurate and can be extended to find AVR in various clinical scenarios to detect and study any abnormalities. © 2023 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Remanufacturing valuable components, like lithium-ion batteries from an automotive battery pack, is crucial in turning our society more sustainable. For scalable remanufacturing, disassembly planning with a minimum number of assembly steps is required. CAD-based assembly-by-disassembly method can be utilized to generate disassembly sequence plans automatically. However, this approach is computationally expensive due to graphical collision analysis. For assembly step minimization, the computing time can be reduced by identifying dismantlable subassemblies. therefore, we propose an automated partitioning of assemblies into feasible subassemblies, which is then fed into the final step of the assembly-by-disassembly method to produce a precedence graph. A comparison of the two popular community detection algorithms - the Louvain algorithm and the Girvan–Newman algorithm - have been applied to exemplary CAD models. the Louvain algorithm showed the best results with a distance-weighted contact matrix. the results show that subassemblies can be proposed for disassembly planning. Nevertheless, the uncertainty in clustering quality is still too high to utilize the approach in a fully automated planning pipeline. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Forest fires are currently the most common issue that we are dealing with. the resources that have been lost are irreplaceable. Forest fires are uncontrollable fires that occur in nature as a result of human involvement or any other natural event. Forest fires can be so large that putting them out takes a long time. Contrasting with previous years, there has been a striking surge in the frequency of forest fires. Changes in climatic conditions are the key factor affecting the scope of forest fires. Long dry spells in the spring and summer make the woodlands particularly vulnerable. the extent of forest fires is mostly determined by weather conditions such as precipitation and wind, as well as the terrain's architecture. Establishing a video fire detection system involves focusing on spatial, spectral, and temporal indicators, as well as flame picture segmentation, recognition, tracking, and prediction. Analytical techniques, specifically utilizing ResNet50 and VGG16 models, can be applied to identify pool fire images through these segmentation processes, contributing to more robust fire detection capabilities. © 2023 IEEE.
