Tourism is a significant source of income for countries and regions, and with the advancement of technology, everything is now interconnected, generating massive amounts of data. Recommender systems are one way to utilize this generated big data. However, currently, Ethiopian Tourism Institutions do not have a system to manage tourist sites, analyze customer preferences and behavior, or filter based on their interests. therefore, the purpose of this research is to develop a collaborative-based recommender system for Ethiopian tourism sites. this study applies both user-based collaborative filtering using a cosine similarity algorithm and model-based collaborative filtering using singular value decomposition (SVD), nonnegative matrix factorization(NMF), and K-nearest neighbors (KNNBasic) to analyze the data collected from the Amhara tourism office, which describes the Ethiopian tourism site. After the analysis, the results show that cosine similarity has the lowest root mean square error (RMSE) score. the methodology followed in this research is the design science approach, and the artifact recommender system is developed using the flask framework. After demonstrating the recommender system, domain experts evaluate it, achieving a promising result of 84.2%. the scarcity of data is a significant challenge, and thus, limited attributes for clustering are selected. Using more attributes to make the similarity of tourists will improve the development of the tourist site recommender system, which is left for future researchers to consider. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a microbial infection, is induced by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). Automatic computer-aided detection can help detect the infected patients using chest imaging i.e., CXR and CT scans. this paper proposes a method to detect infected patients with high accuracy using chest X-ray image of a patient. It proposes a model that includes deep model features and Local Binary Pattern (LBP) features along with Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. the model is utilized for binary classification among normal and COVID-19 infected patients X-rays. Proposed model produced 99.4% accuracy using VGG16 deep features along with LBP features and the Gaussian SVM classifier. © 2021 Institution of Engineering and Technology. All rights reserved.

A rapidly developing field called facial expression detection holds enormous promise in a variety of industries, in-cluding marketing, healthcare, and human-computer interaction. this research provides a thorough analysis of machine learning methods for this job based on neural networks. We explore the application of deep neural networks, such as CNNs and RNNs, emphasising the value of reliable training data. We compare model performance to benchmarks while investigating elements like precision and computational complexity. Also included are ethical issues, privacy worries, and appropriate deployment tactics. Our test results demonstrate how well these models perform at identifying facial expressions of emotion, as well as providing information about their current limitations and potential future study areas.

the development of real-time embedded systems is usually preceded by an important design phase to ensure that functional and behavioural constraints are met. However, the modification of some systems, especially Unmanned Air Vehicles that need to be frequently customised, is typically done in an ad-hoc way. Indeed, the design information may not be available, which may affect the proper functioning of the system. this paper aims to propose a framework helping reverse-engineering a Modifiable Off-the-Shelf (MOTS) embedded system in order to be able to ease its modification. In other words, our objective is to point out where modifications have to happen, and allow smooth use of third-party analysis and/or architecture exploration tools to re-analyse non-functional properties (safety, performances, etc.) regarding the customisation. this framework extracts functional-chains from the source code and represents them visually as a model-based design by using model-driven engineering settings. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

E-shopping sites use a variety of design elements that affect the shopping process and lead customers to favorable buying decisions. Such elements also play a significant role as impulse buying behavior triggers. In this exploratory study based on online questionnaires (N = 401), we investigated customers' perception of the influence of eleven common e-shopping cues on their buying decisions and explored the connection between the perceived influence of the cues and the respondents' gender, education level, and neuroticism. We found (1) that participants group the e-shopping cues by their influence power;(2) participants' gender and educational level contribute to a more critical/favorable perception of some shopping cues;(3) a connection between a higher level of neuroticism and greater perceived influence of shopping cues, which results in lower shopping risks. Drawing on our research, we offer several design recommendations for the advancement of e-shopping websites, particularly concerning the implementation of e-shopping cues. © 2023 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

this paper presents the analysis and simulation for a novel high-power density electric vehicle dc-dc converter. In this paper, a novel interleaved phase-shift half-bridge converter that mainly comprises two modules of a half-bridge converter and a double full-bridge rectifier is proposed. In the case of interfacing the high-voltage battery module, the isolated DC/DC converter is used to control the voltage at the input of the battery according to the battery terminal voltage and optimize the efficiency of the dc-dc converter in a wider range of operating voltage. It operates as a voltage doubler to achieve an output voltage of 450V for the charging of a high-voltage battery. the isolated dc-dc converter is operated as an LLC resonant converter owing to its advantages of simple control and soft switching operation. this converter not only has a wide range of zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) turn-on of power switches on the primary side of the transformer but also has a zero-current-switching (ZCS) turn-off of rectifier diode on the secondary side of the transformer. the proposed converter can achieve the output voltage range of 250-450V by adapting the phase shift between the two square waves. the two LLC half-bridge resonant converters are connected in parallel, and it's operated at a fixed frequency and constant duty cycle. the simplified control strategy in the proposed converter can be achieved since the switching frequency of the converter operates at the resonant point. Finally, a 3.4kW design prototype with 400V input voltage and the 250-450V output voltage is simulated to verify the effectiveness of the phase-shift mode control method. © 2023 the Korean Institute of Power Electronics.

Temporal difference (TD) prediction error signal models are instrumental in simulating brain function during reinforcement learning (RL). Recent evidence suggests a significant role of TD prediction error signals in the action-selection and action-execution brain networks. We introduce a novel neuro-computational model that addresses the effects of temporal difference error signal variations on reinforcement learning for action-selection and action-execution networks. these networks represent the basal ganglia and prefrontal cortex brain regions, while the TD prediction error signal represents the dopamine neurotransmitter. the model incorporates dopamine genetic parameters in the two networks (COMT gene for action-selection;DAT1 gene for action-execution) to generate four different parameter combinations. the model simulation showed that TD signaling in both networks plays a significant role in RL under optimal conditions of medium, not high, TD signals. Moreover, each parameter combination showed a unique pattern of RL, corresponding with experimental data obtained using a computer-based RL task. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, we present an inspection system for power plant environments. the system consists of two main parts: a robot system and a control platform. the control platform serves as the central hub for monitoring and controlling the robot's operations remotely. the robot system, which is the main focus of this paper, has three core components: a Mapping Subsystem, a Navigation Subsystem, and a WEB API service. the Mapping Subsystem enables Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) capabilities, which allow the robot to construct maps and estimate its pose simultaneously. the Navigation Subsystem provides autonomous localization, navigation, and obstacle avoidance for the robot while it's moving. the WEB API service encapsulates the functions and resources of the robot system, allowing it to be controlled and monitored through the control platform. Moreover, to improve the localization accuracy of the robot during motion, we have introduced AprilTag localization and multi-sensor fusion at the robot's start-up and movement stages. © 2023 IEEE.

Faced with the severe risk of bird strike in airports, a large number of bird repelling equipment has been used to prevent it. Traditional bird repellent devices typically lose their original effectiveness after use for a period of time, mainly due to the issue of inertial indications in birds. In order to provide students with an intuitive and in-depth understanding of the current problems with airport bird strike prevention equipment, and to explore new ideas for airport bird strike prevention in the context of artificial intelligence, a simulation experimental platform for airport bird strike linkage system based on Internet of things and artificial intelligence technology was designed. this platform simulates airport bird strike events by placing a modified bird repelling device model on the airport sandbox, randomly playing pictures or videos of aircraft takeoff, landing, and bird invasion on the simulation client. It also utilizes a self-developed human-machine interaction recognition system based on improved Y olov5 to achieve intelligent linkage control of bird repelling devices. © 2023 IEEE.

the advent of the era of big data provides unprecedented opportunities for the transformation and innovation of corporate accounting, but also poses severe challenges to its development. Taking Company M as an example, this paper analyzes the accounting transformation under the current big data environment, and raises many new issues, such as the security of accounting information and the authenticity of information, and the transformation of accounting information data processing mode. At the same time, enterprises are also facing many opportunities, such as: the impact on accounting confirmation, enterprise financial forecasting, decision-making and cost control, and the management of enterprise accounting electronic documents in the cloud computing environment and big data environment. this paper intends to study the accounting information system under the environment of cloud computing and big data, aiming to improve the security and reliability of enterprise accounting information. this article constructed an accounting information big data analysis platform. through experimental testing, it was found that before using the platform, the cost of hardware investment and system maintenance in 2019 was 19,803 yuan, while the cost after using the platform was 13,256 yuan. Studies have shown that using big data processing technology to extract useful information from huge financial and accounting databases can help enhance the core competitiveness of enterprises. © 2024 the Authors.
