In the area of device collaboration system, there are a large number of devices which needed to be collaborated with other devices, and the collaboration process is complex. It is significative to reduce the complexity of modeling a device collaboration process. In this paper, a device collaboration process model is proposed, which includes four basic structures. By use of device collaboration net, the modeling rules of the basic structures are proposed. By using a collaborative process modeling example, the modeling rules are described.

In Internet applications, Web object prefetching is a commonly used and quite effective algorithmic approach to reduce user perceived delays. While a separate concept, prefetching is closely related to caching and they are often blended together in Web algorithms. In this paper, we give a review of Web prefetching models and algorithms, categorize them into groups based on their design principles, and compare their functionalities and performance. We then proposed a new prefetching algorithm that is based on the Adaptive Resonance theory (ART) of neural networks. the new model uses the bottom-up and top-down weights of the cluster-URL connections obtained from a modified ART1 algorithm to make prefecthing decisions.

this paper presents a review and comparison of the software project cost estimation methods that have emerged with more impact in recent years; Expertise and Machine Learning methods. these methods and models have been selected according to an own criteria focusing onto Analogy estimation models and Case Based Reasoning approaches, assuming that they are widely utilized by researchers and with good accurate results. Finally we show a comparative analysis of the seven models proposed inside the Machine Learning methods with advantages and disadvantages between them.

Most classification studies are done by using all the objects data. It is expected to classify objects by using some subsets data in the total data. A rough set based reduct is a minimal subset of features, which has almost the same discernible power as the entire conditional features. Here, we propose a greedy algorithm to compute a set of rough set reducts which is followed by the k-nearest neighbor to classify documents. To improve the classification performance, reducts-kNN with confidence was developed. these proposed rough set reduct based methods are compared with the classification by AdaBoost and SVM(Support Vector Machine) methods. Experiments have been conducted on some benchmark datasets from the Reuters 21578 data set.

In this paper, we consider a methodology that utilizes qualitative expert knowledge for inference in a Bayesian network. the decision-making assumptions and the mathematical equation for Bayesian inference are derived based on data and knowledge obtained from experts. A detailed method to transform knowledge into a set of qualitative statements and an “a priori” distribution for Bayesian probabilistic models are proposed. We also propose a simplified method for constructing the “a prior” model distribution. Each statement obtained from the experts is used to constrain the model space to the subspace which is consistent with the statement provided. Finally, we present qualitative knowledge models and then show a full formalism of how to translate a set of qualitative statements into probability inequality constraints.

Software architecture design plays a crucial role for both the software and business success. Most of the existing methods conduct software architecture design driven by the key software requirements, facing the challenges of creating architectures from scratch and aligning with the high-level business goals. In this paper we propose the BASAD (Business And Software Architecture co-Design) method to facilitate alleviating the difficulty of software architecture design and achieving the high-level business goals. the method addresses the business and software architecture design in an integrated process from a systems engineering perspective, leveraging the SysML and UML modeling languages and the automated model transformation from the business architectures to the software architectures, so that provide pragmatic support for the architecture co-design.

the distributed optimal path planning (D-OPP) problem has been a bottleneck restricting the performance of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) workflow systems which have met the development trend of workflow systems and been one of the most important domains of distributed computing. the essence of this problem is to solve the dynamical global optimization in local views without centralized mechanism. Aiming at this problem, an innovative hybrid P2P location network consisting of spanning graph location network (SGLN) and workload balancing network (WBN) is proposed based on a novel variable length coding which encodes the logical relationship of workflow model. SGLN achieves one hop routing complexity with 100% location precision and zero extra routing bandwidth at a coarse granularity. And WBN realizes an optimal decentralized dynamic task scheduling at a fine granularity by constructing a randomized network which can keep stable topology and a heuristic random sampling with fast converge at the optimal peers. the combination of SGLN and WBN provides an optimal solution to the D-OPP problem and a novel cooperative computing paradigm to distributed computing. © 2010 IEEE.

the rapid growth in the development of Internet-based information systems increases the demand for natural language interfaces that are easy to set up and maintain. Unfortunately, the problem of deep understanding natural language queries is far from being solved. In this paper, an automated question answering system based on domain ontology and question template is proposed, which does not need deep understanding of user's questions. Ontology was employed to model the interesting domain, and properties of concepts are described by a collection of question templates. the system captures a user's intention by matching his questions to predefined templates, and return answers corresponding to template's query focus. the system has been applied to mobile service consulting area, and experimental results show that the system has high practicability as well as maintainability.

A distributed, hierarchical information service for computer networks might use several service instances, located in different layers. A distributed directory service, for example, might be comprised of upper level listings, and local directories. the upper level listings contain a compact version of the local directories. Clients desiring to access the information contained in local directories might first access the high-level listings, in order to locate the appropriate local instance. One of the keys for the competent operation of such service is the ability of properly summarizing the information which will be maintained in the upper level directories. We analyze the case of the Lookup Service in the Information Services plane of perfSONAR performance monitoring distributed architecture, which implements IP address summarization in its functions. We propose an empirical method, or heuristic, to perform the summarizations, based on the PATRICIA tree. We further apply the heuristic on a simulated distributed test bed and examine the results. © 2010 IEEE.

A flexible and scalable architecture that implements real-time synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) imaging on high performance clusters (HPCs) is introduced in this paper. Combing HPCs with application of a hybrid MPI and OpenMP parallel programming model, the lookup table algorithm for SAS image reconstruction based on the time-domain correlation algorithm is realized in parallel. Considering the huge computation load of the lookup table algorithm, the pulse-compressed data is partitioned into strips along the range direction which are distributed to the nodes of HPCs. the scalability allows the lookup table imaging cluster nodes to be added or removed without needing to recompile the existing software, and automatic burden balancing is considered. the result of lake trial verifies that this parallel algorithm on HPCs can provide good quality images and meantime have highly real time rate.
