the distributed optimal path planning (D-OPP) problem has been a bottleneck restricting the performance of Peer-to-Peer (P2P) workflow systems which have met the development trend of workflow systems and been one of the most important domains of distributed computing. the essence of this problem is to solve the dynamical global optimization in local views without centralized mechanism. Aiming at this problem, an innovative hybrid P2P location network consisting of spanning graph location network (SGLN) and workload balancing network (WBN) is proposed based on a novel variable length coding which encodes the logical relationship of workflow model. SGLN achieves one hop routing complexity with 100% location precision and zero extra routing bandwidth at a coarse granularity. And WBN realizes an optimal decentralized dynamic task scheduling at a fine granularity by constructing a randomized network which can keep stable topology and a heuristic random sampling with fast converge at the optimal peers. the combination of SGLN and WBN provides an optimal solution to the D-OPP problem and a novel cooperative computing paradigm to distributed computing. © 2010 IEEE.

Software architecture design plays a crucial role for both the software and business success. Most of the existing methods conduct software architecture design driven by the key software requirements, facing the challenges of creating architectures from scratch and aligning with the high-level business goals. In this paper we propose the BASAD (Business And Software Architecture co-Design) method to facilitate alleviating the difficulty of software architecture design and achieving the high-level business goals. the method addresses the business and software architecture design in an integrated process from a systems engineering perspective, leveraging the SysML and UML modeling languages and the automated model transformation from the business architectures to the software architectures, so that provide pragmatic support for the architecture co-design.

the rapid growth in the development of Internet-based information systems increases the demand for natural language interfaces that are easy to set up and maintain. Unfortunately, the problem of deep understanding natural language queries is far from being solved. In this paper, an automated question answering system based on domain ontology and question template is proposed, which does not need deep understanding of user's questions. Ontology was employed to model the interesting domain, and properties of concepts are described by a collection of question templates. the system captures a user's intention by matching his questions to predefined templates, and return answers corresponding to template's query focus. the system has been applied to mobile service consulting area, and experimental results show that the system has high practicability as well as maintainability.

A distributed, hierarchical information service for computer networks might use several service instances, located in different layers. A distributed directory service, for example, might be comprised of upper level listings, and local directories. the upper level listings contain a compact version of the local directories. Clients desiring to access the information contained in local directories might first access the high-level listings, in order to locate the appropriate local instance. One of the keys for the competent operation of such service is the ability of properly summarizing the information which will be maintained in the upper level directories. We analyze the case of the Lookup Service in the Information Services plane of perfSONAR performance monitoring distributed architecture, which implements IP address summarization in its functions. We propose an empirical method, or heuristic, to perform the summarizations, based on the PATRICIA tree. We further apply the heuristic on a simulated distributed test bed and examine the results. © 2010 IEEE.

A flexible and scalable architecture that implements real-time synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) imaging on high performance clusters (HPCs) is introduced in this paper. Combing HPCs with application of a hybrid MPI and OpenMP parallel programming model, the lookup table algorithm for SAS image reconstruction based on the time-domain correlation algorithm is realized in parallel. Considering the huge computation load of the lookup table algorithm, the pulse-compressed data is partitioned into strips along the range direction which are distributed to the nodes of HPCs. the scalability allows the lookup table imaging cluster nodes to be added or removed without needing to recompile the existing software, and automatic burden balancing is considered. the result of lake trial verifies that this parallel algorithm on HPCs can provide good quality images and meantime have highly real time rate.

With the growth of hardware and software resources, It becomes a challenge that how to ensure the Quality of Service (QoS) of resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system. In order to solve this problem, the authors propose a control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling. In the control mechanism, we first propose a theoretical model. then, we present an elicitation algorithm to resolve the optimal model. In order to justify the feasibility and availability of this control mechanism about QoS for resource scheduling in multiple virtual machine system, a series of experiments have been done. the results show that it is feasible to schedule the system resources and control the QoS of system resources for tasks in multiple virtual machine system. © 2010 IEEE.

the spatial relations representation modeling is a basic task of computer graphics comprehension, however, previous modeling is usually aimed at a certain kind of relations such as direction, topology and distance. the models are relatively independent and inconsistent with human's cognitive logic, thus building a unified spatial relations representation modeling based on different reference frames is required. In this paper we first discuss the importance of a reference frame for building a spatial relations representation modeling, then introduce the feasibility of histogram modeling for building a unified spatial relations representation modeling, and then describe the construction of spatial relations representation modeling based on visual area histogram under the deictic reference frame, in order to testify the correctness of the modeling, two typical examples are given, finally point out the advantages of this modeling, as well as the future work.

Case Based Reasoning (CBR) is the process of solving new problem based on the solutions of similar previous problems. XML is a markup language that allows document owners describe their data in their own formats. there might be the same information has been described in various ways. this makes searching those information from different formats difficult. CXDR (CBR for XML Document Recommendation) is an idea to make searching XML documents easier. CXDR applies CBR framework to collect the mostly use XML document and recommend it to its user. CBR in CXDR consists of two parts, cases and knowledge. the case is XML documents and the knowledge is an XML document recommendation. the recommendation from CXDR is the most use XML element names and structure.

Many of the current service-oriented architectures are built on top of distributed object technologies. these technologies have, however, lost most of their initial appeal, mainly due to the inability to port their concepts to the World Wide Web, and to provide interoperability across many different platforms. the porting of these distributed object platforms to the current Web Service standard is, however, a costly process that requires high investments of both time and money. this paper presents OHMS, a framework that provides an easy and not resource consuming way of exposing a platform to the Web, thus enabling Web access, business-to-business interaction and service composition, by the means of orchestration. We address the framework's architecture, its implementation, and the support for orchestrating CORBA platforms. We evaluate the work regarding the initial requirements, the effort required to support a given distributed object technology, and performance issues. We also address the application of OHMS to a real-life scenario. © 2010 IEEE.

Partial Replicas have been used to parallelize access to regions of large spatial data sets on geographically distributed machines, saving network bandwidth and improving data availability. In this paper, we present the Globus Toolkit R-tree, (GTR-tree) to efficiently select partial replicas using the Globus Toolkit Replica Location Service (RLS) middleware. First, the limitations inherent in the Globus RLS service for spatial data are analyzed, motivating the usefulness of the GTR-tree for solving the partial replica selection problem. We then describe our implementation of the R-tree data structure on top of an unmodified Globus RLS. the R-tree is an important data structure for spatial computation, and results in very significant performance gains. Our performance results and evaluation demonstrate enormous improvements for spatial replica selection over a plain RLS. © 2010 IEEE.
