the present paper introduces the innovative concept of a new type of services, called Ambient Community Services (ACS). the ACS concept utilizes information that resides in communities of mobile terminals, such as location, speed, sensor-related data or user-created multimedia content. After the collection, processing and filtering of these data, a number of innovative, heterogeneous value-added applications can be provided to the end-users, such as the provision of vehicular traffic conditions. Next generation of energy systems, being dependant on Renewable Energy Resources (RES) and distributed Generation (DG), will typically be based on flexible virtual cells of cells of balanced power consumption - generation, that is microgrids, rather than present day vertical hierarchical grid systems. Furthermore, the supporting information infrastructure and nonlinear dependencies will pose new dependability challenges to the systems involved. As a consequence, we have to decouple present day proprietary hierarchical SCADA systems into sets of services that allow for horizontal as well as vertical integration supporting operations and business models of future virtual utilities. the virtual utilities are integrating two critical infrastructures;power grids and cyber networks. To allow for this flexibility and assuring dependability we argue that the underlying infrastructures should be modelled as Service Oriented Architectures (SOA). We propose in this paper a methodology towards ensuring quality of service in virtual utilities based on microgrids.

Characteristics of wireless sensor networks, specifically dense deployment, limited processing power, and limited power supply ,provide unique design challenges at the transport layer. Message transmission between sensor nodes over a wireless medium is especially expensive. Care must be taken to design an efficient transport layer protocol that combines reliable message delivery and congestion control with minimal overhead and retransmission. Sensor networks are created using low cost, low power nodes. Wireless sensors are assumed to have a finite lifetime;care must be taken to design and implement transport layer algorithms that allow maximum network lifetime. In this paper we present current and future challenges in the design of transport layers for sensor networks. Current transport layer protocols are compared based on how they implement reliable message delivery, congestion control, and energy efficiency.

In recent years, many studies have been conducted on Grid computing, in which users and resource providers organize various Virtual Organizations (VOs) to share resources and services. Sharing the resources to accomplish a task within a time-frame will have its benefits if it is done based on the Incentives which help to overcome the issues in Policy Based Resource Allocation. A VO organizes other sub-VOs for the purpose of achieving the VO goal, which forms the hierarchical VO environment. In this paper, we model and formalize the resource allocation problem in hierarchical VOs. Resource providers and VOs agree upon the VO resource sharing policy, such as resource sharing amount and resource usage cost for VOs. We provide the resource allocation scheme of a VO resource broker to increase the reliability on completing tasks with shared resources in order to meet a user's job deadline. In addition, several cost adjustment methods in resource providers to utilize their resources efficiently in hierarchical VOs are dealt. the rapid growth of computer and network technologies has enabled global computing with plenty of resources which are heterogeneous and distributed geographically. the Grid has started from the realization of scientific computations over geographically distributed systems and has been an emerging technology in recent years.
