Due to the emergence of grid computing, which has linked up all the various resources widely distributed (eg: computing resources, storage resources, software resources, information resources, etc.) through the Internet, grid scheduling has become a new focus on grid research. However, a suitable and efficient scheduling algorithm is also badly needed during scheduling process to serve as allocating distributed resources to jobs of different users reasonably. In this paper, we present a new scheduling algorithm based on application demand, through which, can we make most users satisfied by guaranteeing their submitted jobs to be completed within their expected completion times without sacrificing system utilization more. this is the novelty of our algorithm, and it is beneficial for job scheduling and resource sharing in heterogeneous environment.

In aspect-oriented modeling (AOM), a design is described using a set of design views. It is sometimes necessary to compose the views to obtain an integrated view that can be analyzed by tools. Analysis can uncover conflicts and interactions that give rise to undesirable emergent behavior. Design models tend to have complex structures and thus manual model composition can be arduous and error- prone. Tools that automate significant parts of model composition are needed if AOM is to gain industrial acceptance. One way of providing automated support for composing models written in a particular language is to define model composition behavior in the metamodel defining the language. In this paper we show how this can be done by extending the UML metamodel with behavior describing symmetric, signature-based composition of UML model elements. We also describe an implementation of the metamodel that supports systematic composition of UML class models.

Aligning requirements of a business with its information technology is currently a major issue in enterprise computing. Existing literature indicates important criteria to judge the level of alignment between business and IT within a single enterprise. However, identifying such criteria in an inter-enterprise setting - or re-thinking the existing ones - is hardly addressed at all. Business-IT alignment in such settings poses new challenges, as in inter-enterprise collaborations, alignment is driven by economic processes instead of centralized decision-making processes. In our research, we develop a maturity model for business-IT alignment in inter-enterprise settings that takes this difference into account. In this paper, we report on a multi-method approach we devised to confront the validation of the business-IT alignment criteria that we included in the maturity model. As independent feedback is critical for our validation, we used a focus group session and a case study as instruments to take the first step in validating the business-IT alignment criteria. We present how we applied our approach, what we learnt, and what the implications were for our model.

the discovery of a semantic web service (SWS) is the act of locating a machine-processable description of a SWS-related resource that may have been previously unknown and that meets certain functional criteria. the increasing availability of services that offer similar functionalities requires the discovery process to be enhanced with a selection phase that considers non-functional properties (NFPs) of services. this paper proposes a model to describe these properties and a novel approach to service selection. Our approach is based on the design of matching rules by means of mediators defined by sets of rules stating the condition for successful matches. these rules are based on the ontological description of objects representing NFPs that are required and offered. In particular, we define a set of rule schemas to support mediation and matching for a class of user-defined NFP-constraints clustered according to specified constraint operators. Rules support matching for both qualitative and quantitative non-functional properties.

Requirements engineering (RE) encompasses a set of activities for eliciting, modelling, agreeing, communicating and validating requirements that precisely define the problem domain for a software system. Several tools and methods exist to perform each of these activities, but they mainly remain separate, making it difficult to capture the global consistency of large requirement documents. In this paper we introduce model-driven engineering (MDE) as a possible technical solution to integrate these activities in a common framework. First, we dicuss how RE can leverage the two main techniques for MDE: metamodelling and model transformation. then, we introduce a metamodel for requirements and present how we have implemented this metamodel to make it executable and usable through a constrained natural language for requirements definition.

Because of the distributing and heterogeneity of grid, system monitoring is very important to the grid environment. Now, a lot of grid monitoring systems have been developed and a grid monitoring architecture (GMA) has been proposed by Global Grid Forum. this paper describes the monitoring system GMS (grid monitoring service). GMS is a general purposed, scalable and distributed grid monitoring service based on GMA. this paper presents information regarding the design and implementation of GMS. It describes the architecture, components, implementation and application of GMS. Finally, it summarizes the characteristics of GMS and figures out the emphasis of future work.

In practice, the development of process-aware information systems suffers from a gap between conceptual business process models and executable workflow specifications. Because of this gap, conceptual models are hardly reused as execution templates. In this paper, we address the notorious "OR-join problem" that is partly responsible for this gap. At the conceptual level people frequently use OR-joins. However, given their non-local semantics, OR-joins cannot be mapped easily onto executable languages. In particular, we present a new approach to map a conceptual process model with OR-joins (expressed in terms of an EPC) onto an executable model without OR-joins (expressed in terms of a Petri net). Although we used an EPC process model as a running example, the approach is equally applicable to other process modeling languages that offer OR-joins as (e.g. BPMN). Moreover, the resulting Petri net can be mapped onto other execution languages such as BPEL. All of this has been implemented in the context of the ProM framework.

A proxy signature scheme allows one user to delegate his/her signing capability to another user called a proxy signer in such a way that the latter can sign messages on behalf of the the former. After verification the verifier is convinced of the original signer's agreement on the signed message. We have come up with a scheme to control delegation of financial power to a proxy signer. the scheme satisfies the basic requirements of a secure proxy signature scheme. Using our scheme the proxy signer will be able to submit an e-cheque for only the amount he is entitled to by the original signer. Any cheating by the original signer or the proxy signer is identified by the verifier i.e. the bank. We have considered Forgery by the original signer, Impersonating and framing attack to prove the security of our scheme. Any discrete log based signature scheme can be used to sign the messages. Here we use the digital signature algorithm (DSA).

Most works that extend workflow validation beyond syntactical checking consider constraints on the sequence of messages exchanged between services. However, these constraints are expressed only in terms of message names and abstract away their actual data content. Using the context of the User-controlled Lightpath initiative (UCLP) hosted by the CANARIE consortium, we provide examples of real- world "data-aware" web service constraints where the sequence of messages and their content are interdependent. We present CTL-FO + , an extension over Computation Tree Logic that includes first-order quantification on state variables in addition to temporal operators. We show how CTL- FO + is adequate for expressing data-aware constraints, give a complete model checking algorithm for CTL-FO + and establish its complexity to be PSPACE-complete. this makes using CTL-FO + for validating workflow properties no harder than using the Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) already used by some web service tools. Finally, we show how the modelling of data-aware properties is an increase in expressiveness that cannot be efficiently simulated by these tools.
