Most works that extend workflow validation beyond syntactical checking consider constraints on the sequence of messages exchanged between services. However, these constraints are expressed only in terms of message names and abstract away their actual data content. Using the context of the User-controlled Lightpath initiative (UCLP) hosted by the CANARIE consortium, we provide examples of real- world "data-aware" web service constraints where the sequence of messages and their content are interdependent. We present CTL-FO + , an extension over Computation Tree Logic that includes first-order quantification on state variables in addition to temporal operators. We show how CTL- FO + is adequate for expressing data-aware constraints, give a complete model checking algorithm for CTL-FO + and establish its complexity to be PSPACE-complete. this makes using CTL-FO + for validating workflow properties no harder than using the Linear Temporal Logic (LTL) already used by some web service tools. Finally, we show how the modelling of data-aware properties is an increase in expressiveness that cannot be efficiently simulated by these tools.

this paper describes a new strategic information system planning methodology, called ISISP (integrated strategic information system planning), which combines both top- down and bottom-up methodologies for strategic information system planning. In ISISP, portfolio derived from CRUD matrix will union with portfolio derived from SWOT/strategic themes which results in three sets of applications, namely the existing non-core applications, the core applications and the future applications. then application transformation is applied to both core and non core application groups. For the future application group, each application will be mapped onto the existing CRUD matrix resulting in a new CRUD matrix, called ICRUD, which represents the information architecture that bridges the existing applications to the future strategically derived mission critical applications. the ISISP methodology therefore facilitates the actual implementations since all application boundaries will be derivable for the ICRUD matrix. Also, the business areas will be focused and realistic. the resultant application portfolio would be more suitable for creating IT-enabled enterprise since both existing and future strategic applications are taken care for.

Requirements documentation is a collection of partial specifications produced by different stakeholders. Obtaining a global specification is a fundamental step of a requirement analysis process. Merging requirement specifications is indeed a way to reveal inconsistencies between them. We propose in this paper a model-driven mechanism for that purpose. It takes as inputs a set of texts or models which conform to input requirement languages and produces a global requirements model. this mechanism is integrated in a platform called R2A which stands for "requirements to analysis". the R2A core element is its core requirement metamodel which has been defined for capturing the global requirements model. We illustrate our approach with requirement specifications expressed in a constrained natural language. this platform and its mechanism have been completely implemented with MDE (model driven engineering) technologies. As such, it is a good example of how MDE technologies can contribute to requirements engineering as a technical solution.

A business process usually includes multiple business partners that use systems with their business logics represented in different rule (or policy) languages. the integration of business processes is a major goal followed by business enterprises and involves the interchange of business rules and policies between partners. However, the variety of business rules employed by the partners presents a significant burden to the integration of collaborating business systems. In this paper, we propose a solution that enables translating rules and policies defined in different rule languages into a single general rule language (REWERSE II Rule Markup Language - R2ML) and processing them in a uniform manner. this provides a unified view of different partners' business rules in an integration process, while permitting the partners to continue to leverage their own business rules without changing their technologies. We show how the concepts of the KAoS policy language can be transformed to R2ML and then from R2ML to the other rule (or policy) languages.

Computation coordination is an important decision making activity in the real-time distributed computing in order to achieve the optimal performance. the computing power sharing (CPS) is a lightweight web services based architecture, and suitable for enterprise computing works which are able to run in batch format within a trusty network. the architecture relies on business process execution language (BPEL) which provides a visualized development environment and workflow control management. An adaptive real-time coordination module based on fuzzy group decision making policy that implements fuzzy resolution process facilitates the CPS architecture to provide the real-time computation coordination with quality of service. In this paper, the collaborated computing system has been applied to analyze the robustness of digital watermark by filter bank selection. As the result of this study, the performance can be improved in the aspect of speedup, stability and process time.

the ground truth labeling of an image dataset is a task that often requires a large amount of human time and labor. We present an infrastructure for distributed human labeling that can exploit the modularity of common vision problems involving segmentation and recognition. We present the different elements of this infrastructure in detail, in particular the different vision human computational tasks (HCTs) and machine computable tasks (MCTs). We also discuss the impact of such a system on Internet security vs. the current state of the art. Finally, we present our prototype implementation of such a system, named soylent grid, on typical problems.

To access large and widely distributed data on data grid quickly and efficiently is an important goal of the implementation of data grid. Due to high latency of the Internet, large amounts of data need to be replicated in multiple copies at several distributed sites. However, the storage capacity is limited. So a good replacement algorithm is important to the efficiency of the access to the replicas. In this paper, we propose a prediction-based two-stage replica replacement algorithm. this algorithm achieves a good balance between value and cost by predicting replica value to make sure which replica will be replaced, and predicting the replacement cost to make it as low as possible. Simulation results show that compared with traditional replacement algorithms our prediction-based two-stage replica replacement algorithm shows better performance and efficiency of the data access on data grids.

As infrastructure of shared services, Web Services provides possibility for business coordination and interoperability under distributed computing environment. However, the traditional centralized Web Services architecture has its limitation and peer-to-peer computing has become a new mode for network computing on the current Internet. this paper presents an collaboratively design method of Web Services composition process towards virtual enterprise coalition based peer-to-peer architecture, describes its system framework, the organization of peer-to-peer service nodes as well as the corresponding service discovery, binding mechanism and process generation method. And then, the performance analysis and evaluation of the method has been discussed. Finally, it prospects for the future research.

Aimed to lack of incarnating the contents of driving knowledge in the distributed vehicle driving simulator (VDS), such as road sign, Highway Code and driving skill, this paper brings forward the framework of driving knowledge expert system based on WEB, assorts the driving knowledge, and constructs driving knowledge database which may interface timely. thus, the driving knowledge can be melted in the process of virtual driving. therefore we can not only learn driving knowledge through expert system of driving knowledge, but also experience the feeling of driving on the real road during the process of virtual driving.

this paper presents an ongoing project on the development of an e-Engineering framework proposed by KIMM (Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials). the framework is based on a number of advanced technologies, such as intelligent software agents, Web Services, and Service-Oriented Architecture. And it aims to provide an integrated design environment to support integrating personnel, design activities and engineering resources during product development process. Especially Service-Oriented Architecture and Web services technologies enable to utilize and integrate effectively various engineering resources on the geographically distributed computing environments. And intelligent agent technologies support cooperation and coordination mechanisms for the engineering resources and services. In this paper we describe an implementation of the framework in detail.
