the Internet of things (IoT) envisions billions of connected objects being able to sense, act and communicate with each other. this situation provides rich opportunities to dynamic context recognition mechanisms, which aim to make use of the connected sensors to recognize desired context information. However, there are still several challenges to solve for dynamic context recognition mechanisms to be implemented. One of those challenges is dynamic resource selection, the ability to dynamically select between different data sources to detect a specific type of information and to adapt this selection, when necessary. In this paper, we present an agent-based architecture to combine event-driven Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) with a data streaming platform to enable dynamic context recognition. the architecture has been defined in the scope of a testing environment for autonomous driving. there, it is used to dynamically select data sources to provide information to autonomous vehicles and applications based on them.

Real-time high-fidelity rendering requires the use of expensive high-end hardware, even when rendering moderately complex scenes. Interactive streaming services and cloud gaming have somewhat mitigated the problem at the cost of response lag. In this paper we present ReGGI (Regular Grid Global Illumination), a cloud-based distributed rendering pipeline for shared virtual environments that eliminates response lag and is capable of interactive global illumination on a wide gamut of client devices. Results show that ReGGI is scalable, has low bandwidth requirements and produces images of comparable quality to instant radiosity.

Blockchain is widely adopted in many applications as a promising distributed data management framework. However, the high demanding on computing and communication resources may pose a bottleneck for blockchain to be applied in wireless connected users, which are assumed a main constituent part for the future digital society. In this paper, in order to solve the problems of insufficient computing resources faced in the “Mining” process, we consider a blockchain system based on the mobile edge computing (MEC) network. the computation-intensive tasks of blockchain users are offloaded to MEC servers, and the calculation tasks offloading problem in the system is formulated as a large-scale mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem. the MINLP problem proposed in the blockchain system is solved by an algorithmic framework based on the Benders decomposition method. Meanwhile, we propose the branch-and-bound method and the dichotomy-the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMM) method instead of the dinkelbach-ADMM to solve the mixed integer programming master problem and the fractional programming sub-problem, respectively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can save the energy consumption in the blockchain system and reduce computing time of the “Mining” process.

Alluxio is a popular distributed memory storage system, which becomes increasingly important in big data ecosystem by providing high performance storage for computing framework. We point out that there are security vulnerabilities in cache mechanism, data short-circuit read/write mechanism and consistency check mechanism of Alluxio, which may result in the failure of data availability and integrity. Firstly, we find that the lack of limitation of cached copies in the cache mechanism causes the malicious memory consumption attack. An adversary can craft a malicious job to consume the scarce memory storage at a low cost, which will significantly influence the performance of normal users with a degradation of 20%-59%. Secondly, we are aware that the lack of access control and integrity check on the data block will lead to target file tamper attack, in which a target file cached in memory will be modified and considered correctly as long as the size remains unchanged. the tampered file will be read and thus causes a wrong result. Finally, we discuss some corresponding countermeasures for defending these two kinds of memory cache attacks.

Traditional phishing detection methods are mostly based on computer platforms and cannot be directly applied to mobile devices. this paper proposes a new two-dimensional code phishing detection method called LogoPhish. We use the logo to determine the identity between a two-dimensional code's actual identity and the described identity. the method includes two processes: logo extraction and identity detection. the first process uses a mobile phone to scan the two-dimensional code to extract the logo and perform image processing. the second process uses the Google image search engine to determine the identity of the logo. Since the relationship between the logo and the domain name is exclusive, it is reasonable to use the domain name as an identifier. the experimental results show that LogoPhish has a good effect and is superior to the traditional detection method in the detection of two-dimensional code phishing attacks.

Lattice quantum chromodynamics (lattice QCD) is a mainstream non-perturbative theoretical calculation method. It's for studying quantum chromodynamics (QCD) using lattice quantum field theory, by defining field variables at discrete time-space points and large-scale Monte Carlo numerical simulation calculation. It's computing results can directly compare with the experimental results, but the conventional computing platform is difficult to meet the large-scale and high-precision lattice QCD computational simulation demand. Sunway TaihuLight is the first supercomputer with peak performance over 100Pflops in the world, which provides a new platform for the calculation of lattice QCD. But the efficient large-scale parallel lattice QCD computing faces many difficult problems in implement. In order to realize the efficient calculation of the lattice QCD in Sunway many-core processor, we designs a parallel acceleration calculation method of lattice QCD on Sunway Architecture in this paper. A new parallel computing method is put forward, and the method of data segmentation, data transmission and parallel computing is improved and optimized. Finally, the test data is used to test the optimized parallelization computing method proposed in this paper and the original serial computing method. Experiments show that the parallel optimized computing method can achieve 63 times performance improvement compared with the original serial computing method.

Age-of-information (AoI) is a novel metric that measures the freshness of information in status update scenarios. It is essential for real-time applications to transmit status update packets to the destination node as timely as possible. However, for some applications, status information embedded in the packets is not revealed until complicated data processing, which is computational expensive and time consuming. As the mobile edge server has sufficient computational resource and is placed close to users, mobile edge computing (MEC) is expected to reduce age for computation-intensive messages. In this paper, we study the AoI for computation-intensive data in MEC, and consider two computing schemes: local computing by user itself and remote computing at MEC server. the two computing models are unified into a two-node tandem queuing model. Zero-wait policy is adopted, i.e., a new message is generated once the previous one leaves the first node. We consider exponentially distributed service time and infinite queue size, and hence, the second node can be seen as an First-Come-First-Served (FCFS) M/M/1 system. Closed-form average AoIs are derived for the two computing schemes. the region where remote computing outperforms local computing is characterized. Simulation results show that there exists an optimal transmission rate so that remote computing is better than local computing for a largest range.

In the Internet of things (IoT), a large amount of data are exchanged through IoT networks between devices and cloud computing. However, the legacy architecture of IoT networks is not flexible and scalable for the increment of devices. Software defined networking (SDN) separates the control plane from the data plane in the legacy switches and centralizes the control plane as a logical control center, making network management more flexible and efficient. In SDN, the controller is very easy to be attacked, then, we use the Blockchain technology into the measurement framework to ensure the security and consistency of the statistics. To obtain the measurement results with low overhead and high accuracy, we collect the statistics of coarse-grained traffic of flows and fine-grained traffic of links and estimate the flow traffic with an ARIMA model. We propose an objective function to decrease the estimation errors. the objective function is an NP-hard problem, we present a heuristic algorithm to obtain the optimal solution of the fine-grained measurement. Medical data is invaluable in medical diagnosis. With the recent advance in Internet of things (IoT) and non-invasive sensing, massive medical data can be gathered in real-time but how to process them efficiently becomes a big challenge for e-Health applications. In this demo paper, we investigate the idea of employing Mobile Edge computing (MEC) which can provide computing resources close to the end devices with a variety of computation offloading models to facilitate real-time medical data processing. To evaluate this idea and find out which computation offloading model can achieve the best performance, we implement COMEC where a video-based heart rate detection APP is running in a MEC environment based on Open Air Interface (OAI). Experimental results have shown that the best performance is achieved under multi-layer offloading model where both the edge server and the cloud server are employed.
