An independent dominating set (IDS) is a set of vertices in a graph that ensures both independence and domination. the former property asserts that no vertices in the set are adjacent to each other while the latter demands that every vertex not in the set is adjacent to at least one vertex in the IDS. We extended two prior game designs, one for independent set and the other for dominating set, to three IDS game designs where players independently determine whether they should be in or out of the set based on their own interests. Regardless of the game play sequence, the result is a minimal IDS (i.e., no proper subset of the result is also an IDS). We turned the designs into three self-stabilizing distributed algorithms that always end up with an IDS regardless of the initial configurations. Simulation results show that all the game designs produce relatively small IDSs with reasonable convergence rate in representative network topologies.

Remote Control (RC) applications allow a mobile device to control another device from remote. To enrich Quality of Experience (QoE) of RC applications, in this paper we investigate the use of fog computing as a viable platform to offload computation of tasks that would be expensive if performed locally on a mobile device. the proposed approach, supported with next 5G communication systems, will enable a Tactile Internet experience. Interactive environments are more and more entering our daily life. Our homes are becoming increasingly smart and so do our working environments. Aiming to provide assistance that is not only suitable to the current situation, but as well for the involved individuals usually comes along with an increased scale of personal data being collected/requested and processed. While this may not be exceptionally critical as long as data does not leave one's smart home, circumstances change dramatically once smart home data is processed by cloud services, and, all the more, as soon as an interactive assistance system is operated by our employer who may have interest in exploiting the data beyond its original purpose, e. g. for secretly evaluating the work performance of his personnel. In this paper we discuss how a federated identity management could be augmented withdistributed usage control and trusted computing technology so as to reliably arrange and enforce privacy-related requirements in externally operated interactive environments.

Geospatial data analysis is an emerging area of research today due to the potential to enable varied location-aware services. the existing centralized cloud-based analysis becomes time and computing-intensive for huge amount of geospatial data processing. this paper addresses the challenge of time and power-efficiency in QoS-aware geospatial query resolution. We propose a cloudlet based hierarchical paradigm, namely Geo-Cloudlet, where the cloudlets contain the geospatial data of the districts. the state and national level geospatial data are stored inside the state cloud and country cloud respectively. the query resolution is performed by either the cloudlet or by the state cloud or country cloud depending upon the geographical region related to the query. the experimental analysis illustrates that the proposed architecture Geo-Cloudlet reduces the latency up to 61.3% and power consumption up to 61.1% over the use of only remote cloud servers for geospatial query resolution.

Combinations of n objects taken m at the time are ubiquitous in a wide range of combinatorial problems. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach to generate combinations from given integer numbers by using a gradient-based algorithm through plural number of CPU and GPU processors. the time complexity is bounded by O(m(2)) when using a single processor, and bounded by O(mlogm) when using at most O(m/ logm) processors. Relevant computational experiments confirmed the practical efficiency within computationally allowable limits. Our approach offers the building blocks to represent combinations with succinct encoding and complexity being independent of n, which is meritorious when n is very large, or when n is time-varying.

this paper describes a novel distributing computing middleware named XML-VM. Its architecture is inspired by the 'Grid computing' paradigm. the proposed system improves many characteristics of previous Grid systems, in particular the description of the distributed computation, the distribution of the code and the execution times. XML is a markup language commonly used to interchange arbitrary data over the Internet. the idea behind this work is to use XML to describe algorithms;XML documents are distributed by means of XML-RPC, interpreted and executed using virtual machines. XML-VM is an assemblylike language, coded in XML. Parsing of XML-VM programs is performed with a fast SAX parser for JAVA. XML-VM interpreter is coded in JAVA. Several algorithms are written in XML-VM and executed in a distributed environment. Representative experimental results are reported.
