the coarse-grained reconfigurable architecture (CGRA) is proven to be energy efficient in many domains, such as multi-media and signal processing. However, the continuous updating of configuration context limits the performance of reconfigurable systems severely. Configuration context cache is usually introduced in CGRAs to solve this problem. this paper proposes several methods to improve the performance of the configuration context cache. Firstly, the configuration context is classified into three levels. Secondly, a three-level hierarchical cache structure, based on the Pre-fetch and Hybrid-Priority strategies, is adopted to reduce the cache accessing time. Finally, a novel Two-Side-View design, including the physical view and the logic view, is implemented to reduce the cache size. the experimental results show that the proposed structure is 2.23 times and 2.06 times better than the up-to-date centralized and distributed structures. the proposed cache structure has been integrated in a reconfigurable computing processor called REMUS-II. When processing multi-media applications, REMUS-II can realize 1080p HiP@30fps decoding at frequency of 200MHz.

the present paper describes a developed analyzing system of roll surface during the process of continuous hot dip zinc coated steel sheet production line, in particular, adhering problem by transferred inclusions from roll to steel sheet surface during annealing process so called the pickup. the simulated test machine for coated roll surface in processing line has been designed and performed. the system makes it possible to analyze roll surface condition according to pickup phenomena from various roll coatings concerning operating conditions of hearth rolls in annealing furnace. the algorithm of fast pickup detection on surface is developed on the base of processing of several optical images of surface. the parameters for quality estimation of surface with pickups were developed. the optical system for images registration and image processing electronics may be used in realtime and embed in processing line.

the electronic nose (eNose) mimicking the mammalian olfactory system has each sensor respond to different odours to different extents. However, the real environment contains multiple odours interacting with each other, such that the sensory signals of an eNose exhibit high variability and the responses to different odours usually overlap with each other. this paper presents the development of a scalable and adaptable probabilistic model for recognising eNose signals and realising the model as customer- designed integrated circuits. the scalability refers to interconnecting multiple chips to form a large network of probabilistic model for processing high-dimensional sensory signals, or to form a multi-expert system that is able to estimate the likelihood of belonging to different types of odours. the latter case could provide extra information for clinical diagnosis. Furthermore, on-chip adaptability is incorporated to learn new data distribution or variability in realtime. By integrating the adaptable probabilistic model with eNose sensor arrays, analog-to-digital converters, and a digital processor on a single chip, an intelligent eNose microsystem will be formed for a variety of biomedical applications.

Traditional recommender systems provide personal suggestions based on the user's preferences, without taking into account any additional contextual information such as time or device type. However, in many applications, this contextual information may be relevant for the human decision process, and as a result, be important to incorporate into the recommendation process, which gave rise to context-aware recommender systems. However, the information value of contextual data for the recommendation process is highly dependent on the application domain and the users' consumption behavior in different contextual situations. this research aims to assess the information value of context for a recommender system of a mobile news service by analyzing user interactions and feedback. A large-scale user study shows that context-aware recommendations outperform traditional recommendations, but also indicates that the accuracy improvement might be limited in a real-life situation. Service usage takes place in a limited number of different contexts due to user habits and repetitive behavior, leaving little room for optimization based on the context. Data fragmentation over different contextual situations strengthens the sparsity problem, thereby limiting the user-perceived accuracy gain obtained by incorporating context in the recommender. these findings are important for news providers when considering to offer context-aware recommendations.

Error control coding ensures the desired quality of service for a given data rate and is necessary to improve relaibility of Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) communication systems. therefore, a good combination of detection MIMO schemes and coding schemes has drawn attention in recent years. the most promising coding schemes are Bit-Interleaved Coded Modulation (BICM). At the transmitter the information bits are encoded using an error-correction code. the soft demodulator provides the reliability information in form of real valued log-likehood ratios (LLR). these values are used by the channel decoder to make final decisions on the transmitted coded bits. Nevertheless, these sophisticated techniques produce a significant increase in the computational cost and require large computational power. this paper presents a set of Soft-Output detectors implemented in CUDA and OpenMP, which allows to considerably decrease the computational time required for the data detection stage in MIMO systems. these detectors will be included in the future MIMOPack library, a High Performance computing (HPC) library for MIMO Communication systems. Experimental results confirm that these implementations allow to accelerate the data detection stage for different constellation sizes and number of antennas.
