—3D mapping using drone technology is rapidly changing the way spatial data is collected, analyzed, and applied across various industries. the technology has allowed for collecting the good-resolution, precise, and up-to-date spatial data that can be used for mapping, surveying, monitoring, and analyzing environments with greater efficiency and detail. the benefits of using 3D mapping with drone technology are numerous, including increased safety, reduced costs, and improved accuracy and speed of data collection. 3D mapping without drones is limited in coverage area. It relies on the photographer or surveyor to cover the area on foot or from a stationary position, making it difficult to capture large or inaccessible areas. It is generally less accurate than using drones. this is because it relies on manual measurements or estimates of distances and angles, which can result in a less precise representation of the environment or object being mapped. We use photogrammetry technique for spatial data collection, analysis and mapping by utilizing photographs from different angles to create a 3d model using Pix4D software. ©2023 IEEE.

Edge TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) is being widely utilized in various edge computing applications as a high-efficiency, low-power accelerator for deep learning computations. However, temperature rise in Edge TPU can lead to performance degradation, reduced stability, and shortened lifespan, necessitating temperature management through thermal modeling. this paper proposes a task-level thermal modeling technique for predicting Edge TPU temperature. the proposed method estimates power consumption of CPU and Edge TPU based on workloads of various deep learning tasks and predicts the convergence temperature of Edge TPU using a steady temperature model. through experiments, we confirmed that the proposed method accurately predicts Edge TPU temperature for various workloads. the average prediction error was 0.7°C. this study is expected to serve as a foundation for developing temperature management techniques by presenting an effective temperature prediction model that considers the thermal characteristics of Edge TPU.

Stability theory is widely developed for actual systems. Mathematicians and engineers generally utilize its solutions to practical issues in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering. this paper aims to present some further practical applications of stability theory. First, we discussed the SEIR model used in this research to show how the disease-free equilibrium was asymptotically stable. the coexistence of the three species are then depicted by three-component model which is asymptotically stable around the positive interior biological equilibrium with two hazardous zooplankton and phytoplankton. In addition to these, it is investigated whether a class of non-linear time-varying control systems has exponential stability, as well as the stability of a logistic model of an isolated population. © 2022 IEEE.

Scheduling algorithms in distributed heterogeneous systems have been the subject of extensive research. However, with the advancement of technology, addressing real-time, reliability, and energy consumption issues in dynamic environments has become increasingly critical. Existing studies mostly focus on static approaches, which are challenging to achieve scheduling objectives rapidly and adaptively. therefore, we propose a novel dynamic energy-aware scheduling algorithm for deadlines and reliability constrained applications. Firstly, we introduce a prioritization method for multitasking applications to ensure more applications meet their deadlines. Subsequently, we present specific strategies for task allocation to achieve a better trade-off between energy consumption and reliability. Experimental results on randomly generated applications validate the superiority of our proposed method in terms of performance compared to other algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

In the pursuit of precision agriculture, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time plant disease detection holds a significant promise. this study investigates the application of edge computing on a Raspberry Pi 4 platform to keep the performance of three optimized deep learning models: GoogLeNet, ResNet and XceptionNet, in detecting plant diseases using the new plant diseases dataset. the goal seeks to bridge the gap between theoretical advancements in deep learning and practical applications in precision agriculture, shedding light on the trade-offs between model complexity, computational demands, and diagnostic accuracy. Additionally, we provide a lightweight web application that interfaces with the trained models, exemplifying how edge computing can democratize access to AI tools, making them accessible to farmers and researchers. Our findings show that converting the models to TensorFlow Lite significantly reduces model size and inference time while maintaining similar performance, crucial for applications on resource-limited devices like the Raspberry Pi 4.

the results of materials research laboratories' acquisition and evaluation of X-ray diffraction (XRD) data take a significant amount of time and include a lot of laborious and monotonous engineering through humans. To put this into perspective, a synopsis of the process of material synthesis that culminates in an investigation into the composition of the material can take several days to complete. this article explores an alternative approach that employs supervised learning algorithms based on ensemble-stacked neural network techniques. the method involves predicting the behavior of biomaterial granules incorporated with calcium phosphates (CaPs) as a matrix for carrying the anticancer drug carboplatin. the high-vacuum method is utilized for loading, and a set of five compositions is examined: hydroxyapatite (HA), β - tricalciumphosphate(β - TCP), biphasicHAp(60% β - TCP, 40%HA), - β TC-P/MgOnanocomposite, and β TCP/SiO2. Additionally, the study investigates the deposition of the carboplatin drug on the CaPs' surface at concentrations of 50, 60, and 70 mg/g, applying various machine-learning techniques for analysis. the deep neural network model successfully predicted the delivery release of different NPs with different amounts of phosphorous and calcium in the drug, and it did better than the stacked neural network (SNN) model ways. the determination of the results with the dataset for the following drug release with different compositions was around 97%. this study presents a quantitative approach that can improve the prediction of the drug release efficacy of nanomedicine in a manner that is both accurate and efficient. © 2023 IEEE.

Nowadays, heterogeneous embedded platforms are extensively used in various low-latency applications, including the automotive industry, real-time IoT systems, and automated factories. these platforms utilize specific components, such as CPUs, GPUs, and neural network accelerators for efficient task processing and to solve specific problems with a lower power consumption compared to more traditional systems. However, since these accelerators share resources such as the global memory, it is crucial to understand how workloads behave under high computational loads to determine how parallel computational engines on modern platforms can interfere and adversely affect the system's predictability and performance. One area that remains unclear is the interference effect on shared memory resources between the CPU and GPU: more specifically, the latency degradation experienced by GPU kernels when memory-intensive CPU applications run concurrently. In this work, we first analyze the metrics that characterize the behavior of different kernels under various board conditions caused by CPU memory-intensive workloads on a Nvidia Jetson Xavier. then, we exploit various machine learning methodologies aiming to estimate the latency degradation of kernels based on their metrics. As a result of this, we are able to identify the metrics that could potentially have the most significant impact when predicting the kernels completion latency degradation.

Telexistence refers to various technologies that enable a high sense of embodiment and interaction capabilities with remote environments. Although numerous telexistence systems have been explored in previous works of literature, no prior studies have investigated the usability of telexistence systems for daily use. therefore, this study focuses on Piton, which is a novel wearable telexistence robot which has a high degree of freedom in a snake-shaped design. Piton offers a unique opportunity for remote interaction and manipulation in diverse environments, owing to its flexible movement, which enables users to adapt to various scenarios with ease. the robot's wearability is also an essential feature that allows the user to wear it as a backpack. However, despite its promising features, deeper investigation is necessary to explore potential use cases for Piton in users' daily lives and the challenge of Piton.

Wearable and unobtrusive monitoring and prediction of epileptic seizures has the potential to significantly increase the life quality of patients, but is still an unreached goal due to challenges of real-time detection and wearable devices design. Hyperdimensional (HD) computing has evolved in recent years as a new promising machine learning approach, especially when talking about wearable applications. But in the case of epilepsy detection, standard HD computing is not performing at the level of other state-of-the-art algorithms. this could be due to the inherent complexity of the seizures and their signatures in different biosignals, such as the electroencephalogram (EEG), the highly personalized nature, and the disbalance of seizure and non-seizure instances. In the literature, different strategies for improved learning of HD computing have been proposed, such as iterative (multi-pass) learning, multi-centroid learning and learning with sample weight ("OnlineHD"). Yet, most of them have not been tested on the challenging task of epileptic seizure detection, and it stays unclear whether they can increase the HD computing performance to the level of the current state-of-the-art algorithms for wearable devices, such as random forests. thus, in this paper, we implement different learning strategies and assess their performance on an individual basis, or in combination, regarding detection performance and memory and computational requirements. Results show that the best-performing algorithm, which is a combination of multi-centroid and multi-pass, can indeed reach the performance of the random forest model on a highly unbalanced dataset imitating a real-life epileptic seizure detection application.
