Performance anomaly in High Performance computing (HPC) can be defined as run-to-run variation of an application in repeated runs with the same set of configuration parameters. Such variations can occur for myriad reasons, including contention for shared resources such as the network and dynamic data distribution across application processes. Traditionally HPC researchers focus on real-time anomaly detection using different Machine Learning (ML) methods. these popular methods, such as auto-encoder, limit finding anomalous event patterns during training time. On top of that, in HPC, performance data are stored in tabular format. though gradient-based methods have already proved their significant improvement over classification tasks, they explicitly use feature-feature relationships, ignoring the potential sample-sample relationship. To fill this gap, we build a performance anomaly classification technique leveraging the potential graph-based representation learning. We hypothesize that a meaningful and robust representation considering the sample-sample relationship for the given tabular datasets will improve the downstream anomaly classification technique. We conduct our experiment on 5 HPC datasets and 6 ML datasets. Our empirical study proves that graph-based anomaly classification outperforms the gradient-based approaches in 6 out of 11 experiments. We also explain how anomaly decisions are made inside the performance graph.

this paper delves into the domain of Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) Motors that have become significantly popular in modern day applications like automotive, aerospace, robotics (unmanned vehicles) etc. because of the edge they have over their brushed counterpart. Unlike brushed DC motors, which use brush and commutator segments for commutation, BLDC motors use electronic commutation which eliminates wear and tear of mechanical parts, frictional loss etc. this paper discusses mathematical modelling of a BLDC motor, presents the insights about design and implementation of Field Oriented Control (FOC), initial calculation of Proportional Integral Differential (PID) gains and final implementation of FOC algorithm for BLDC Motors of UUV. this technique is far superior than other traditional methods, like Trapezoidal control and sinusoidal control, and implements independent control of torque and flux with the help of various transforms. It is a very useful and precise technique which results in a superior dynamic response, less torque ripple and high efficiency. the key objective is to dispense a holistic approach for designing PID controller for a BLDC motor. the performance of the controller was tested for no load and load condition. the final results demonstrated the anticipated superior dynamic response.

the dependability of IIoT functionality is strongly influenced by its communication protocols. One of the most popular communication standards for the Internet of things, whose features make it attractive in the IIoT field, is LoRaWAN. LoRaWAN can be considered a low-consumption competitor to cellular networks. this protocol has important features such as long-range coverage, low energy consumption, and a low implementation cost. Although the LoRaWAnfeatures make it a good choice for IoT applications, the existence of real-time constraints and a harsh environment in the IIoT field make it a challenge for network designers to guarantee the dependability of IIoT networks with LoRaWAN. therefore, in this paper, to overcome this challenge, a novel method is presented for improving energy consumption efficiency, latency, and fault tolerance of the LoRaWAN protocol. the evaluation results show that the proposed method improves packet delivery and latency rate by 11% and 21% compared to standard LoRaWAn.

Forest and land fires in Indonesia are a major concern for the government when entering the dry season. the researchers have widely developed early detection technology, including satellite and airborne-based technology, but it faces several limitations due to the influence of weather and other unavoidable factors. Furthermore, fire detection technology based on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and the Internet of things (loT) is one of the most effective solutions. this study developed a sensor node that includes an Arduino UNO, a smoke sensor, a fire sensor, and temperature and humidity sensors and code program using C++, to detect potential forest fires. We place these nodes at fire-prone points in the forest. Additionally, the gateway node receive data from the sensor node, process it using the NodeMCU ESP8266, and send it to the *** database for real-time report. the developed system's test results demonstrate that it can display and send data in real-time to the *** platform via an internet connection. Additionally, the base station's physical 12C 20x4 LCD screen displays the information. the forest fire early warning system functions well, and the test results show good detection and data transmission capabilities.

the mobile subscribers' positioning is an essential feature for multiple applications such as navigation, geoinformation systems, and location-based service. Having accurate information about the subscriber's location implicitly affects customer satisfaction. Although satellite-based positioning shows remarkable accuracy on the end-user device, the casual deviations and drift are still present. One of the options to supplement satellite-based positioning is to use cellular network-based positioning. Our studies focus on the critical aspect affecting the accuracy of positioning based on mobile cellular network data. In particular, we illustrate how the coverage area model can affect positioning accuracy. Besides, we propose a robust cell coverage modeling technique that improves mobile positioning accuracy based on mobile network data.

In this study, the effects of pre-heating in terms of the voltage and current capacities and performance parameters of the lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries are investigated experimentally. the test setup includes resistive DC load banks, electrical isolation, and protection equipment, qualified Li-ion batteries for aviation, and data acquisition system. Load banks are utilized for supplying different ranks of resistive loads to the equipment under test through the protection devices. the Li-ion batteries are discharged with 10C, 12.5C, and 15C during the test activities, and the performance parameters are inspected by using a data acquisition system that includes the Aeronautical Radio, Incorporated (ARINC), and resistive temperature detector (RTD) modules by real-time monitoring and post data. these discharge test activities are reiterated for diverse temperatures for both operating with or without internal heater. the variety of the battery performance was illustrated in distinct State of Charge (SoC), and temperature values in this paper. It was seen that the internal heater directly affects the discharge performance of the Ii-ion battery.

Scientific irrigation scheduling aims to solve the on-farm allocation of water, deciding whether or not to irrigate, when, and determining the amount. Studies conducted in various parts of the world have shown that an effective irrigation schedule, established using informed guidelines, has the potential to yield significant reductions in water usage while enhancing both irrigation efficiency and productivity. To gain a deeper comprehension of the fundamental processes and principles of irrigation scheduling, it is possible to categorize four methods according to the underlying principles they rely on: (1) evapotranspiration (ET) -water balance based, (2) soil moisture based, (3) plant water stress based, and (4) simulated model based. Given that all these irrigation scheduling approaches revolve around either soil moisture or plant responses to soil moisture, accurately estimating the current soil moisture status becomes pivotal. this estimation plays a central role in the precise coordination of irrigation timing and the meticulous restoration of soil moisture to desired thresholds. By employing these approaches, there is potential for the development of practical, precise, and easily adaptable irrigation scheduling applications specifically designed for real-time farming operations.

Interrupt latency, critical in real-time applications, is increased in virtualized systems;interrupts intended for a non-running partition can be delayed up to the length of the scheduling period. State-of-the art techniques for decreasing latency in real-time guests relax temporal isolation requirements, allowing guests' interrupt handlers to be executed within another partition's time slot. However, this approach does not yet achieve native latencies, due to the need to switch guests' contexts, inducing overhead for Hypervisor execution. this paper presents an approach for reducing interrupt latencies: by taking advantage of virtualization support hardware in modern microprocessors, we show that real-time guests' interrupt handlers can be executed within Hypervisor hardware context, i.e., by Hypervisor-dedicated processor hardware, eliminating the need for switching guests' context and approaching native latencies. this is achieved by morphing the Hypervisor's memory map translation mechanisms, so software is executed within the real-time guest's memory context, allowing near-native interrupt latency. We evaluate our implementation, consisting of virtualization hardware and software, on a softcore ARM processor prototyped on a Xilinx Virtex 5 FPGA, running Linux and FreeRTOS. Results show memory map morphing is capable of achieving near-native interrupt latency for a real-time guest, outperforming the state of the art. © 2021 ACM.

the increasing utilization of the Internet of things (IoT) has the potential to transform the Quality Infrastructure (QI) by encompassing all its fundamental components: metrology, standardization, accreditation, conformity assessment, and market surveillance. the objective of this paper is to analyze the applications, potentialities, and challenges of using IoT within the context of QI 4.0. the research was conducted through an integrative review, and the results indicate that IoT can facilitate the automation of processes, improve the traceability of products and services, and enable the creation of new standards based on real-time data. However, significant challenges such as cybersecurity, data privacy, and device interoperability must be overcome for QI 4.0 to be fully realized.

the article discusses the application of wavelet analysis for the time-frequency time-delay estimation. the proposed algorithm is wavelet transform-based cross-correlation time delay estimation that applies discrete time wavelet transform to filter the input signal prior to computation of cross-correlation function. the distinguishing feature of the algorithm that it uses the variation of continuous wavelet transform to process the discrete signals instead of dyadic wavelet transform that is normally applied to the case. Another feature that the implication of convolution theorem is used to compute coefficients of the wavelet transform. this makes possible to omit redundant discrete Fourier transforms and significantly reduce the computational complexity. the principal applicability of the proposed method is shown in the course of a computational experiments with artificial and real-world signal. So the method demonstrated expected selectivity for the signals localized in the different frequency bands. the application of the method to practical case of pipeline leak detection was also successful. However, the study concluded that this method provides no specific advantages in comparison with the conventional one. In the future, alternative applications in biological signal processing will be considered. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved.
