Automation of a system brings along efficiency, controllability and accuracy. It is a major challenge, owing to the complexities involved. Several local automation techniques have been implemented in the past. this work presents the current automation tool called cyber physical system (CPS). It is the combination of physical and cyber systems that are communicating with each other at all levels. embedded networks and computers control the physical processes using the data obtained through feedback loops where physical processes control computations and vice versa. the applications of CPS are revolutionary as it can be observed in emerging intelligent buildings, smart cars, robots, and medical devices. However, a review of research on CPS is essential. this work presents literature review and studies the Cyber Physical systems with a particular focus on its significance in various fields like manufacturing, education, transport, construction and medical. As a result, a CPS control system architecture for the introduction and organization of influencing aspects for CPS related to various sectors is presented to support practitioners in the realization of smart process control concepts. © 2021, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Development in the field of Single Board Computers (SBC) have been increasing for several years. they provide a good balance between computing performance and power consumption which is usually required for mobile platforms, like application in vehicles for Advanced Driver Assistance systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving (AD). However, there is an ever-increasing need of more powerful and efficient SBCs which can run power intensive Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) in real-time and can also satisfy necessary functional safety requirements such as Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL). "ProAI" is being developed by ZF mainly to run powerful and efficient applications such as multitask DNNs and on top of that it also has the required safety certification for AD. In this work, we compare and discuss state of the art SBC on the basis of power intensive multitask DNN architecture called Multitask-CenterNet with respect to performance measures such as, FPS and power efficiency. As an automotive supercomputer, ProAI delivers an excellent combination of performance and efficiency, managing nearly twice the number of FPS per watt than a modern workstation laptop and almost four times compared to the Jetson Nano. Furthermore, it was also shown that there is still power in reserve for further and more complex tasks on the ProAI, based on the CPU/GPU utilization during the benchmark.

In today’s competitive world, one of the most important goals for home health care (HHC) companies is responding to the patient’s demand, immediately and being on time for it. Based on feedback from home health care networks (HHCNs), caregivers and nurses should encounter some ambiguities when performing a specific plan for visiting patients. In this study, we presented a model for a Home Health Care Routing and Scheduling Problem (HHCRSP) by considering the time window. Due to the time limit of nurses during the day, this constraint has been added to the model. this constraint is a nonlinear constraint that is linearized later in the article. three meta-heuristic algorithms include Tabu search, variable neighborhood search, and particle swarm optimization are used to solve the model. Computational results are presented and demonstrate the effectiveness of the approaches. © 2021, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the article describes a generalized net model of the connections between the different types of transport in a transport network encompassing six major Bulgarian towns. the crossings marked with letter indices represent six major towns in Bulgaria where there are real connections between the different types of transport networks (public and freight). the so created model offers possibilities for optimization and synchronization of the connections between different types of transport. Some possible applications of the model are also discussed.

the exploration of high EEG electrode densities is of great interest in current BCI research. this paper investigates the neural representation of high-level hand gestures using ultra-high-density EEG electrodes. the EEG of two subjects was recorded using a total of 352 and 256 electrodes placed over the sensorimotor cortex, respectively. Subject S1 performed motor execution, and subject S2 performed motor imagery of the hand gestures. Band power features for the mu (8-12 Hz) and beta (13–30 Hz) frequency bands were exploited for pairwise classifications for the respective gestures using a linear SVM. Topography plots were generated using the reconstructed head models from T1-weighted MRI scans of both subjects. the spatiotemporal dynamics from the topographies allow a detailed understanding of the associated brain patterns. Subjects S1 and S2 achieved a mean classification accuracy of 72.7% and 71.3% across all classification pairs, respectively. the classification of the gestures “rock” vs. “scissors” resulted in the highest classification accuracy for both subjects, with 78.9% for subject S1 and 73.9% for subject S2 on average. Classification models based on electrode subsets reflecting the 10–10 and the extended 10–10 systems performed worse than the ultra-high-density EEG system resulting in a decrease of about 10 and 8% (on median). the implementation of feature reduction algorithms, as well as real-time BCI feedback, are expected to enhance performance in future applications.

Human face and spoofing detection are of prime importance in many security verification and law enforcement applications. this paper deals with human face detection and spoofing detection using deep learning. Essential feature extraction from images is the key to achieving considerable accuracy for classification and detection. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) are well-equipped to extract vital features on its own from images without the need to manually select and extract features from them. In this paper, a CNN based real human face detection classifier has been proposed. the CNN classifier was implemented on an embedded system device for real-time detection. It accurately predicts whether or not a real human face is present in the frame of the recognizing/detecting camera. © 2020 IEEE.

In the rapidly evolving digital media landscape, ensuring the security and privacy of multimedia data has become paramount. this research delves into the field of steganography, specifically focusing on developing a robust method to hide information in images and videos. the proposed method combines the use of least significant bit (LSB) based steganography to hide images and RC4 algorithm to enhance security. the proposed method first works by encrypting secret data using RC4 algorithm. the encrypted data is then embedded into the cover art or video using a modified LSB embedding technique. this technique carefully selects pixels into which to embed secret data and uses a new, more powerful bit-embedding algorithm for compression and other image processing operations. the LSB technique involves embedding data into the bits with the least significant pixel value, allowing for imperceptible changes in image content. this method provides a balance between concealment and maintaining the integrity of the host media. At the same time, the RC4 algorithm is used to encrypt hidden data, adding an additional layer of security to prevent unauthorized access. Integrating these techniques into a unified system provides a flexible solution for covert communication and secure data transmission. the study explores the complexity of steganography based on LSB and the RC4 algorithm, testing their effectiveness in hiding and protecting sensitive information in media files. Experimental validation includes comprehensive testing on images and videos to evaluate the system's stealth, robustness, and resilience against various attacks. the results aim to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method, providing insight into its potential applications in secure communications, digital forensics, and information protection. this research contributes to the growing field of steganography by presenting a practical and innovative approach to multimedia data hiding, addr

AI development has brought many significant changes in various aspects of our daily lives in recent years. Integrating AI technology into various applications has revolutionized multiple domains, and one particularly vital area is traffic sign recognition, which significantly enhances driver safety. this paper presents an approach to traffic sign recognition specifically designed for the Jetson Nano 2GB device. By utilizing the YOLOv8 Nano model, the proposed approach achieves a remarkable frame rate of up to 32 frames per second (FPS). To optimize inference speed on Jetson with limited memory, the approach incorporates TensorRT and quantization techniques. In addition, this paper introduces a dataset called the Vietnamese Traffic Sign Detection Database 100 (VTSDB100). this dataset is an extension of the VTSDB46 dataset and encompasses a comprehensive collection of 100 different classes of traffic signs. these signs were captured in diverse locations within Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, providing a rich and diverse dataset for training and evaluating traffic sign recognition models. Extensive experiments and analyses were conducted using various object detection methods on the VTSDB100 dataset. the findings highlight the potential of deploying the proposed approach on resource-constrained devices and provide valuable insights for further research and development in AI-powered driver safety systems.

this paper aims to contribute to the challenging issue of one microscopic simulation round for dynamic traffic assignment. It relays on the selfish behavior of the vehicle agent that benefits from a more accurate estimation of its travel time. the main novelty is that, rather than considering the average travel times in the network links according to the present vehicles, the vehicle must first know at what time it is able to cross the nodes located at both extremities of the road. this is achieved through a negotiation between the vehicle agent and the node agents to book the crossing time. In order to assess this new paradigm, this paper compares it with well-known approaches in an elementary network. the result invites to extend the approach to more general cases. A discussion of the opportunities and limitations of the approach extension is provided in this paper. One of the notable opportunities, is that the proposed approach has a great potential to improve the energy efficiency by exploring mobile navigation applications and connected autonomous vehicles. © 2021 Elsevier B.V..
