this paper discusses the recognition of textual entailment in a text-hypothesis pair by applying a wide variety of lexical measures. We consider that the entailment phenomenon can be tackled from three general levels: lexical, syntactic and semantic. the main goals of this research are to deal with this phenomenon from a lexical point of view, and achieve high results considering only such kind of knowledge. To accomplish this, the information provided by the lexical measures is used as a set of features for a Support Vector Machine which will decide if the entailment relation is produced. A study of the most relevant features and a comparison with the best state-of-the-art textual entailment systems is exposed throughout the paper. Finally, the system has been evaluated using the Second PASCAL Recognising Textual Entailment Challenge data and evaluation methodology, obtaining an accuracy rate of 61.88%. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2007.

In this paper, we proposed a linear-transform-based method to compute 3D moments. Instead of computing the conventional moments directly, we compute the so-called LT moments which are related with the conventional moments by three linear transforms. By choosing appropriately these transforms, it is shown that the computational complexity can be considerably reduced.

the distance transform (DT) serves as a crucial operation in numerous image processing and pattern recognition methods, finding broad applications in areas such as skeletonization, map-matching robot self-localization, biomedical imaging, and analysis of binary images. the concept of DT computation can also be extended to non-grid structures and graphs for the calculation of the shortest paths within a graph. this paper introduces two distinct algorithms: the first calculates the DT within a connected plane graph, while the second is designed to compute the DT in a binary image. Both algorithms demonstrate parallel logarithmic complexity of O(log(n)), with n representing the maximum diameter of the largest region in either the connected plane graph or the binary image. To attain this level of complexity, we make the assumption that a sufficient number of independent processing elements are available to facilitate massively parallel processing. Both methods utilize the hierarchical irregular pyramid structure, thereby retaining topological information across regions. these algorithms operate entirely on a local level, making them conducive to parallel implementations. the GPU implementation of these algorithms showcases high performance, with memory bandwidth posing the only significant constraint. the logarithmic complexity of the algorithms boosts execution speed, making them particularly suited to handling large images.

the objective of this paper is to provide the low-cost assistive device with localization and mapping of the visually-impaired people. this can be used as plug and play device low power consumption and economical solution to visually-impaired. Further, the smart assistive device will be an integration of computer vision techniques and sensors network which can be validate the sturdiness and consistency of the obstacle recognition and detection modules. Need to test the obstacle detection data and the module is reliant on the collected data from both the smartphone camera and ultrasonic sensors, which will be nourished to the recognition unit to categorize the existing things of the scene. In this article, we present a theoretical framework for a secure smart architecture based on futuristic edge resource allocation with a key focus on the task off-loading and intelligent enabling technologies. this article aims to highlight the growing need of embedded off-loading standards in the context of the Internet of Everything (IoE), fog, and cloud paradigms enabled technologies in the overall design framework of smart architecture. Efficient task off-loading strategies perform a vital role in mobility, heterogeneity, data and energy management, load balancing, establishing security mechanisms, reducing the propagation delay and information processing. the motive behind presenting such an embedded intelligent and secure architecture is to address the growing concerns of upcoming smart networks and its sub-network based on different futuristic scenarios, applications and devices. Furthermore, we discuss the off-loading criteria and enabling technologies, in view of the new advancement and critical requirements with rising demands of up-coming intelligence-based secure off-loading frameworks, in order to meet the requirements of the secure smart environment. Finally, through our discussion, we develop the specific research questions and explain its motivations in order to design and evaluate the off-loading criteria and its associated enabling technologies to accommodate the secure technological advancements and resource allocation in the sixth generation (6G) wireless communication era. © 2021, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

A minimization problem is proposed to combine smoothing of locally computed motion data (e.g. normal flow) with the detection of motion boundaries. the continuous formulation of the cost functional allows one to incorporate arbitrary continuity-equations which locally determine apparent motion, and a nonlinear smoothing term adapts to the magnitude of the flow-gradient or to its components divergence, rotation, and shear. the approach has been designed such that gradient descent converges to a unique solution.
