Fractional calculus extends traditional calculus and provides a comprehensive framework for modelling and control via fractional-order transfer functions (FOTFs). Fractional-order (FO) controllers, including FO-PI and FO-PD, enhance flexibility and performance through the inclusion of an additional tuning parameter, surpassing classical controllers. Despite these advantages, the robustness of FO controllers remains uncertain under varying operating conditions, particularly in nonlinear systems. Adaptive control methods, including Model-Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC), effectively mitigate this limitation by facilitating real-time adjustments to variations in process parameters. this study presents a new control strategy that integrates MRAC with FO control techniques to improve the adaptability and robustness of DC servo motor systems. the DC servo motor, represented as a first-order system, provides the environment for experimental validation. this paper presents the mathematical relations used for tuning the FO-PI and the adaptive FO-PI controllers. the results indicate that this hybrid approach outperforms the classical approach. this research presents the integration of FO and adaptive control for industrial applications.

the structure of the rocket-borne model is inherently complex, with processed images exhibiting high resolution and generating substantial amounts of data and calculations. Achieving robust real-time computing on an embedded platform poses significant challenges due to strictly limited resources, power consumption constraints, and size limitations. Our review of rocket-borne applications reveals considerable variability in the design resources of different devices, indicating a need for expanded design approaches. Upon evaluating existing methods, we identified two primary drawbacks. First, certain operators within the high-resolution target detection model are difficult to parallelize, resulting in significant inference delays that hinder the ability to meet task requirements. Although existing methods have been extended, there remains significant potential for performance enhancement in core scheduling for poor acceleration. this paper proposes an optimized architecture for the target detection algorithm accelerator designed for high-resolution images, along with a novel highly parallel data pre-processing and post-processing module implemented on FPGA to address these issues. Compared to the ARM implementation, this architecture demonstrates an improved performance of 24.64x. Furthermore, to ensure flexible application across various rocket launch scenarios, we introduce an optimization structure for convolution, pooling, and fusion operators and a multi-core expansion optimization method. this approach yields a 1.29x improvement in computing unit utilization compared to state-of-the-art multi-core scaling efforts. Finally, we assessed the accelerator architecture across multiple FPGA platforms, achieving a peak processing element utilization rate of 99.71% for a single core and layer. the overall computing efficiency, excluding the first layer, exceeded 90%. the peak computing power for the four cores reached 1638.4 GOPS, and the end-to-end computation time for

Growing energy consumption from campus infrastructure including lecture halls that run heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems motivates data-driven optimization. this research demonstrates an integrated application of Internet of things (IoT) sensors and cloud-hosted predictive data analytics to enable smart lecture room policies improving efficiency and sustainability. A Raspberry Pi Pico W IoT device was interfaced with BME680 sensor for temperature, humidity and air quality data. the device also incorporated a PIR sensor for occupancy detection and Wi-Fi connectivity to transmit multivariate time series data. the prototype was installed in a university lecture room for real-time data capture. Data was directed to a cloud analytics pipeline including MySQL storage and Node-RED for pre-processing. time series forecasting was conducted by training autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA), Prophet and machine learning models on historical data to predict temperature, occupancy levels, and usage patterns 24 h into the future. An interactive dashboard visualized both real-time streams and model forecasts using Grafana for analytical insights. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

Recent data-intensive applications encounter memory wall bottlenecks in the traditional processor-centric computing architecture due to the need for frequent and extensive off-chip data movement. the emerging 3D-enabled near-memory processing (NMP) is a potential solution where computation can be offloaded and performed near memory, eliminating the need for expansive off-chip data transfer. Recently, some crucial works in this context have been proposed that use a supervised machine learning approach that requires a well-labeled dataset, which necessitates creating a time-consuming simulation process. Furthermore, their major focus was on profiling and offloading the entire application to the NMP side, causing a sub-optimal performance because of the low processing power on the NMP cores. this paper presents an unguided machine-learning-based approach (UCO) for computation offloading in NMP architecture that offloads only the memory-intensive regions of an application. the approach extracts several application performance characteristics and creates two clusters using them - one for the CPU side and another for the NMP side. the proposed approach's effectiveness is demonstrated through a series of comprehensive experiments with standard simulators and dataintensive benchmark applications. the results indicate that UCO improves performance (1.31x and 1.10x), saves energy (16% and 12%), and reduces off-chip data transfer (78% and 73%) compared to conventional and state-of-the-art approaches.

From a real-time perspective, the Garbage Collector (GC) introduces unpredictable pauses that are not tolerated by real-time tasks. real-time collectors eliminate this problem but introduce a high overhead. Another approach is to use Memory Regions (MR) within which allocation and deallocation are customized. this facility is supported by the memory model of the real-time Specification for Java (RTSJ). this paper provides an indepth analytical investigation of the problems and solutions of Java garbage collection techniques regarding it use in embedded real-time systems.

In most real-time applications, deadlines are artifices that need to be enforced to meet different performance requirements. For example, in periodic task sets, jitter requirements can be met by assigning suitable relative deadlines and guaranteeing the feasibility of the schedule. this paper presents a method (called minD)for calculating the minimum EDF-feasible deadline of a real-time task. More precisely, given a set of periodic tasks with hard real-time requirements, which is feasible under EDF, the proposed algorithm allows computing the shortest deadline that can be assigned to an arbitrary task in the set, or to a new incoming task (periodic or aperiodic), still preserving the EDF feasibility of the new task set. the algorithm has a pseudo polynomial complexity and handles arbitrary relative deadlines, which can be less than, equal to, or greater than periods.

We first define the execution efficiency. then we propose a new algorithm that establishes the co-scheduled sets where the execution efficiency can be increased Also we present the static estimation of the execution time and provide the schedulability analysis for the extended U-Link Scheduling. In the experiments, we evaluate the advancement of the extended U-Link Scheduling from the viewpoint of the execution efficiency and real-time processing.

the modeling approach is not used to its full potential in maintenance of legacy systems. Often, models do not even exist. the main reasons being that the economic implications and practical hurdles in manually maintaining models of in-use legacy systems are considered too high by the industry. In this paper, we present a method for automated validation of models automatically generated from recordings of executing real-time embedded systems. this forms an essential constituent of a unified process for the automatic modeling of legacy software. We also present a study in which we automatically model a state-of-practice industrial robot control system, the results of which are clearly positive indicators of the viability of our approach.

We present a garbage collector scheduling algorithm for dynamic multiprocessor real-time systems called GCMUA. the algorithm considers mutator activities that are subject to time/utility function time constraints, stochastic execution-time and memory demands, and overloads. We prove that GCMUA probabilistically lower bounds each mutator's accrued utility, lower bounds the total accrued utility, and upper bounds the assurances' sensitivity to variations in execution-time and memory demand estimates. Our simulation results confirm our analytical results.
