In this paper, we present the results on the developing of competencies in Engineering students during a week called “i-week” in our Educational Model in which students from different disciplines work together on a given challenge using educational robot kits. the development of disciplinary competencies as well as soft competencies are studied. the challenge is related to the construction of a manufacturing cell using robots and Programmable logic Controllers (PLC) in which we look to develop disciplinaries competencies such as basic programming and logical thinking. On the other hand, the challenge also allows for the developing of soft competencies in students of Engineering such as Negotiation skills, Time Management, Working in a Multidisciplinary and Multicultural Team. In this paper we show the educational strategy, the methodology and the results of the implementation as well as a proposal to extend this methodology so that more students can participate in this type of projects. the results obtained exceeded the expectations and are very positive according to the students’ perceptions.

It builds representations by incrementally stacking autoencoders made up of trees of general Python functions, thereby stepwise compressing data. Sensitivity issues of the internal design rule check (DRC) capability of an electronic design automation tool are highlighted when the design technology used is not properly configured. However, the integration of computer vision and computational intelligence in the field of constraint engineering and integrated circuit layout has high tendency to resolve this ambiguity. In this study, vision-based architecture is integrated with deep transfer learning network to classify NOT, NAND (no fold and two-finger), and NOR logic gates with 1 μm physical gate polysilicon and 0.5 μ m gate length using 90 nm CMOS technology. Inverter designs with contact (CO) error is generated using missing CO, metal 1 in place and not fully placed, and off positioned CO via an incorporated Python-triggered tool command language (TCL) program in the Synopsys platform. EfficientNetB7 perfectly classified NOT and NAND gates, and subcategorized NOT contact error designs. Overall, the developed seamless approach in classifying gate-level integrated circuit design and predicting contact errors using EfficientNetB7 is easy to replicate and can enhance layout assessment.

A prominent characteristic of Internet of things is the seamless integration of diverse, heterogeneous technologies working together to empower cyber-physical spaces and experiences, effectively changing how we perceive the environment around us. Myriads of applications supported by IoT require diverse communication patterns and network requirements. Although IoT infrastructure is often associated to high latency communication, a significant number of applications demand low latency - Augmented Reality and Industrial IoT, for instance. A considerable amount of embedded devices' processing power is dedicated to performing network message exchanges. thus, speeding up their execution while alleviating the CPU load is crucial and has a beneficial impact to the whole IoT application. In this paper, we present a design and implementation of a CoAP Accelerator as a hardware module synthesizable in an FPGA, and a companion programming model. the accelerator cooperates withthe device's CPU and/or other embedded hardware, enabling the entire IoT device to sustain high protocol processing rates at low latency. Evaluations were carried out and have demonstrated the endpoint's performance improvement on the order of 308%.

this paper presents a comparison of fuzzy controller optimization results using dynamic parameter adjustment Type 1 (T1) and Interval Type 2 (T2) fuzzy logic to the Firefly Algorithm (FA). the FA is used for optimizations parameters of the membership functions in the fuzzy controllers. the dynamic adjustment is applied to the randomness parameter of the search space, which represents the exploration of the method, avoiding stagnation or premature convergence. the FA generates the values that the parameters of the membership functions take for optimization use in the fuzzy systems for control. the control plants have one or more input variables that are processed and result in one or more output variables, it would be very difficult to model the human reasoning in equations to achieve a machine acquires the knowledge acquired by humans. this paper describes an analog switch capable of retaining its state even when powered off. It is in fact a floating gate transistor whose floating gate charge is programmed through a memory cell by means of Fowler-Nordheim tunneling. Its nonvolatile characteristic makes it very useful in low power consumption applications. Moreover, depending on the amount of charge stored into the floating gate, it can work with signals exceeding the supply voltage and provide small ON resistance when used in low voltage applications. this switch was designed in a 0.18um CMOS EEPROM process and HSPICE simulations were done to prove its functionality and performances.

In this paper we propose the utilization of type-2 fuzzy systems for the dynamic adjustment of parameters in the imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA), a type-1 fuzzy system was used as a basis, with decades as the input variable and the beta parameter as the output variable, then it was extended to interval type-2 fuzzy systems, and three variants with triangular, Gaussian and trapezoidal membership functions were performed. the imperialist competitive algorithm is based on the concept of imperialism, where the strongest countries absorb the weakest and make then their colonies. To measure the performance of the proposed method 10 mathematical functions with different number of decades are used and finally, a comparison was made between our variants and the results obtained withthe type-1 fuzzy system to observe their behavior in the face of optimization problems.

Type-2 fuzzy logic systems have recently been utilized in many control process due to their ability to model uncertainties. this paper proposes an inference mechanism for an interval type-2 Takagi-Sugeno-Kang fuzzy logic control system (IT2 TSK FLCS) when antecedents are type-2 fuzzy sets and consequent are crisp. this paper focus on fault-tolerant control application for the three inter-connected conical tank system with following cases: (1) Servo control without fault, and, (2) Regulatory control withthe actuator, system component faults, and process disturbances. In boththe cases, IAE and ISE are calculated. the methods presented in this paper facilitating the design of fault-tolerant controller design using IT2 TSK FLCs with significantly improved performance over type-1 FLCs approaches.
