Since last two decades one of the fast advancing and most sensitive research area is observed to be detection of diabetic retinopathy (DR). In fundus images detection of retinal lesions depends on grading of diabetic retinopathy and computer-aided screening which led to development of automatic telemedicine system. the detection accuracy is still a matter of concern even after existence of huge contribution in area of detection. the existing algorithm for classification of DR images is not able to encode the directional information in 2D and 3D plane. the proposed approach encodes in four different directions (0 degrees, 45 degrees, 90 degrees and 135 degrees) from the reference pixel to its surrounding pixel in 3D plane. the proposed model includes preprocessing, feature extraction using spherical directional local ternary pattern (SDLTP) and classification using traditional distance measure and learning based distance measure using artificial neural network (ANN). SDLTP is used for extracting the directional feature in 3D plane and to reduce the feature vector length, a principle component analysis (PCA) technique is adopted. Further, two techniques are used for classification purpose (distance measure and ANN). the proposed method classification accuracy is measured in terms of precision. From experimental analysis, the proposed method give significant improvement in classification accuracy in both unsupervised and supervised domain because feature extraction in implemented considering the directional information.

We present a new approach to monocular learning-based gaze redirection problem in images that is able to train on raw sequences of eye images with unknown gaze directions and a small amount of eye images, where the gaze direction is known. the proposed approach is based on a pair of deep networks, where the first encoder-like network maps eye images to a latent space, while the second network maps pairs of latent representations to warping fields implementing the transformation between the pair of the original images. In the proposed system, bothnetworks are trained in an unsupervised manner, while the gaze-annotated images are only used to estimate displacements in the latent space that are characteristic to certain gaze redirections. Quantitative and qualitative evaluation suggests that such characteristic displacement vectors in the learned latent space can be learned from few examples and are transferable across different people and different imaging conditions.

Lung cancer is the cancer type with highest mortality rate worldwide. It has been shown that early detection withcomputer tomography (CT) scans can reduce deaths caused by this disease. Manual detection of cancer nodules is costly and time-consuming. We present a general framework for the detection of nodules in lung CT images. Our method consists of the pre-processing of a patient's CT with filtering and lung extraction from the entire volume using a previously calculated mask for each patient. From the extracted lungs, we perform a candidate generation stage using morphological operations, followed by the training of a three-dimensional convolutional neural network for feature representation and classification of extracted candidates for false positive reduction. We perform experiments on the publicly available LIDC-IDRI dataset. Our candidate extraction approach is effective to produce precise candidates with a recall of 99.6%. In addition, false positive reduction stage manages to successfully classify candidates and increases precision by a factor of 7.000.
