We present a numerical scheme for the identification of compact surrogate models of analog circuit blocks. the basic assumption is small signal operation, so that a local linearization can be applied around a given bias point, resulting in a bias-dependent linear state-space behavioral macromodel. the main novel contribution of this work is the ability to embed in the identification process a suitable set of constraints, that are able to guarantee the uniform stability of the model for any bias value within a prescribed design range. © 2018 European Microwave Association - EuMA.

For reliable and low latency communications, we consider encoding the data streams across the spatial channels instead of transmitting independent data stream over each spatial channel, and also instead of encoding the data across time. Using a stochastic MIMO channel model, we re-examine implications of using large Massive Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna arrays, such as those that extend across a large surface. the effects of additive noise at receivers, with large number of antennas, for Massive MIMO systems have not been fully addressed. We present a system model that achieves both channel hardening and noise sphere hardening. With channel hardening, the receiver does not need channel state information at the receiver (CSIR), for a sufficiently large transmit array. With receiver noise sphere hardening, the variations of the length of the noise vector is constrained to very small values, enabling error free communication above an average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), for sufficiently large receive antenna array. Such systems are advantageous for applications with low latency requirements where at a given time instant, data can be received with improved reliability.

In this paper, we study reversible data hiding schemes for JPEG images and we propose a method which is constructed by embedding secret data into zero quantized coefficients. In the proposed method, consecutive zero quantized coefficients in a fixed set of entries of DCT block are used to embed data in the following way. First, the algorithm selects several positions from this fixed set according to the first part of the secret message and modifies selected zero coefficients by small non-zero values according to the second part of the secret message. Experimental results show that our proposed methods have higher embedding capacity and obtain lower ratios between the increased file size and payload than previous methods.

Stevens Institute of Technology conducted a long-term test of an acoustic system designed to track low-flying small aircraft in remote locations. the system consists of 4 nodes located between 1 and 4 km apart in a mountainous terrain. Each node is comprised of a pyramid-shaped volumetric cluster of 5 microphones, an embedded computer, and a pan-tilt-zoom camera steered to detected targets in real time. A communication device was used to transfer data to a centralized location. Each node estimates the direction of arrival toward the sound sources and sends it along to a central processing computer. the central computer combines the data from all nodes to generate tracks and classify targets. the duration and the scale of the deployment allowed to identify and solve many problems, including the effects of propagation delays between nodes on cooperative localization and tracking, the seasonal changes in environmental noise, persistent and transient noise sources, and the diversity of targets of opportunity and their signatures. the propagation delay effects led to the development of separate trackers for review of target trajectories and for immediate action such as automatically steering the camera.

In cognitive systems we need to make a supplementary link between architecture and supporting algorithms to exchange information and manage the extracted data. this paper presents a new concept of cognitive scanning using hybrid MIMO-phased array radar (HMPAR) for functional near-field imaging of brain activity in the framework of algorithm/architecture co-design. In the proposed paradigm, the communication challenges of cognitive scanning are concurrently searching, detecting and tracking the activated brain regions. the proposed system model is a HMPAR approach including MIMO array for target detection and MIMO-phased sub-array for tracking the detected targets in the allocated subarrays. In the current paper, we assess the feasibility of using a waveform and pattern (beam-forming and beam-steering) diversities for developing the proposed framework. In order to improve the resolution, contrast and accuracy of a characteristics target inside a biological phantom, some initial methods are employed for 1D time domain reflectometry (TDR) and 2D visualization. Simulated results show that the proposed framework could be feasible for functional microwave imaging application.

Aiming at the irregular distribution of kidney stones inside the body, traditional clinical surgery can not achieve complete resection of the lesion, the targeted drug damage to the affected body is too large, can not effectively identify the target information of the lesion, and the probability of recurrence is high, In this paper, an enhanced energizing module microsystem with lesion target recognition and cutting is developed. the system mainly includes: a neural network signal extraction module for target recognition, a logic control target chip for lesion resection, and a targeted drug with jet ability. the overall structure of the micro-system is micro/mesoscopic size, and the sensitive structure is an execution probe of “small grain size”. After the enhanced energizing module enters the patient from the vein, it begins to extract the cell growth and reproduction information of the surrounding environment and the echo information of the stone lesions. enhanced energizing module set treatment mode selection, each of the enhanced energizing module has two or more targeted drug heads, which can be set according to the characteristics of the lesions. the targeted drug head with jet function bombards the surface of the affected area, which can produce a local high temperature of 1500 °C, which can reliably destroy the lesions of the affected area.

We propose a new Iteratively Reweighted Least Squares (IRLS) algorithm for the problem of completing a low-rank matrix that is linearly structured, e.g., that possesses a Hankel, Toeplitz or block-Hankel/Toeplitz structures, which is of relevance for the harmonic retrieval or super-resolution problem. the algorithm optimizes a non-convex surrogate of the rank by minimizing well-chosen quadratic upper bounds of the smoothed surrogate. We establish a quadratic local convergence rate of the developed IRLS strategy if the linear structure is Hankel, with high probability if the provided entries of the matrix are sampled uniformly at random, and if the matrix to be completed fulfills a suitable coherence condition. Our strategy combines computational efficiency, as the dimensionality of its optimization variables scales sub-linearly in the matrix dimensions, with a favorable data efficiency, as it can be observed in experiments on hard completion tasks. In particular, our experiments show that the proposed algorithm exhibits an empirical recovery probability close to one from fewer samples than existing state-of-the-art approaches for the Hankel matrix completion task arising from the problem of spectral super-resolution of frequencies with small separation.

the small wind power system is a renewable energy system that is more applicable to general residential or other applications. Most users of the small-scale wind power generation system come from the general population, who do not have professional technologies and concepts. A good monitoring system can provide the user with quick understanding of the operational status, efficient troubleshooting, and improvement of the whole system. the paper proposes a wireless remote monitoring system for wind systems. this system includes a host computer and a remote monitoring module. the host computer is used for command control, data collection, and analysis. It can order the remote monitoring module to operate electrical equipment, gather measured data from the remote monitoring module, and analyze these data. the operation screen of the host computer is accomplished by the LabVIEW front panel. Via interactive man-machine interface, the user can input control commands and monitor operating conditions, so the operation is simpler and more straightforward. the remote monitoring module can measure voltage, current, generator speed, and wind speed data;in addition, it can provide an electromagnetic brake for the wind turbine. the communication of the host computer and remote monitoring module is constituted through a wireless network, so the host computer can fully understand the system status wherever placed, and remotely monitor and control the entire system. the specific functions of the remote monitoring module are performed by an AVR single chip and its surrounding instrumentation. the monitoring system of this paper is expected to effectively manage the wind turbine system, improve the efficiency of the system, and provide a reference to further improve the system. this paper monitors a practical 400 W small wind turbine as an object, which verifies the practicability of this paper in practical applications.
