Some 115 km(2) of regional 3D seismic data were acquired in the first quarter of 2014 near Harvey, Western Australia, for the needs of the South West CO2 Hub project. the survey proved to be of great importance for a regional characterisation of the reservoir, identification of the large structures and key geological interfaces. However, small to medium size structures of interest for the development of the static and dynamic models were poorly imaged in this survey as the recording geometry was adjusted for the greater depths, which was between 2 km and 3 km. To improve the imaging of the shallow structures, a high-resolution (nested) 3D survey centered at Harvey 4 well was undertaken in 2015 (Urosevic et al., 2015). this survey utilised a single geophone and single, 24 s long, broadband (6-150 Hz) sweep combined with high data density to improve signal to noise ratio that was initially lowered by not employing high-power sources and geophone arrays. the results of this high-resolution 3D survey demonstrate that high-density surveys are important even at the characterisation stage and are crucial for development of a detailed static model. For that purpose, both post and pre-stack inversions of these data were utilised to model distribution of paleosols, lenses of high clay content, which are assumed to serve as baffles for CO2 upward migration. A good correlation was established between very low impedance values and increased percentage of paleosols and on the other end of the scale very high impedance values and low porosity sandstones. A pre-stack migrated high-resolution cube and the attribute derived from it, such as coherency and impedance, enabled improved structural and stratigraphic analysis around Harvey 4 well. the results shown were of a crucial importance for the containment studies, development of the dynamic model and establishment of the injection intervals. Because usually there are no normal control cell lines, cancer cell lines can be examined only in a comparison between treatment and no-treatment conditions. thus, characterization of cancer cell lines by themselves is impossible. To address this problem, one-class differential expression (DE) analysis, which can evaluate samples without a reference, is proposed here using tensor decomposition (TD)-based unsupervised feature extraction (FE) extended from recently proposed principal component analysis -based unsupervised FE. this one-class DE analysis was applied to multi-omics datasets of 26 lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. Enrichment analysis of selected genes identified multiple biological terms or concepts including signal recognition particles and nonsense-mediated decay (Reactome, Gene Ontology [GO] biological process), cadherin, poly(A) RNA binding (GO molecular function), eukaryotic translation initiation factors (Reactome), aberrant histone protein expression (Reactome and Human Protein Atlas [HPA]), and 163 transcription factors including E2F, PAX5, ARNT, AHR, and CREB, all of which are known to be related to non-small cell lung cancer and are expected to function cooperatively in lung adenocarcinoma oncogenesis. these data not only indicate usefulness of one-class DE analysis using TD -based unsupervised FE but also point to new therapeutic targets in lung adenocarcinoma.

the Wind sector has roughly 2200M euros of profit losses due to wind turbine failures and these failures do not contribute to the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions of many states. the 25-35% of the generation costs are operation and maintenance services. To lower this ratio, the wind turbine industry is backing on the Machine Learning techniques over SCADA data. signal trending analysis supported on linear regression models presents the problem of how to carefully choose the right target variable, which reproduces as close as possible the behavior of a failure from a component. this document evaluates the impact of that choice by comparing as target different variables with discrete-non normal distribution, commonly selected by feature selection methods, versus variables that are continuous over time with a near normal distribution. Experimental results on real data show the use of continuous target variables selected by human expert on the field give better results than the use of targets obtained through feature selection algorithm. © 2017 IEEE.

In the application of SAR moving targets imaging, typical algorithms are generally complex, requiring powerful floating-point computing ability and a lot of time. Starting with analysis of the error of conventional still targets imaging algorithms, this paper designs a moving targets imaging algorithm by error compensation and motion parameters estimation. this algorithm is simple but efficient, and easily parallelized as well. therefore, we implement the algorithm based on the widely used Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) platform and test this implementation with data acquired from real SAR system. Tests prove the effectiveness of this algorithm and the implementation on CUDA shows very high computational efficiency. For every testing moving target, the implementation is able to finish the imaging processing within one second.

Most previous methods for tracking of multiple objects follow the conventional "tracking by detection" scheme and focus on improving the performance of category-specific object detectors as well as the between-frame tracklet association. these methods are therefore heavily sensitive to the performance of the object detectors, leading to limited application scenarios. In this work, we overcome this issue by a novel model-free framework that incorporates generic categoryindependent object proposals without the need to pretrain any object detectors. In each frame, our method generates a small number of target object proposals that are shared by multiple objects regardless of their category. this significantly improves the search efficiency in comparison to the traditional dense sampling approach. To further increase the discriminative power of our tracker among targets, we treat all other object proposals as the negative samples, i. e. as " distractors", and update them in an online fashion. For a comprehensive evaluation, we test on the PETS benchmark datasets as well as a new MOOT benchmark dataset that contains more challenging videos. Results show that our method achieves superior performance in terms of both computational speed and tracking accuracy metrics.

5G networks are expected to support various applications with diverse requirements in terms of latency, data rates and traffic volume. Cloud-RAN and densely deployed small cells are two of the tools at disposal of Mobile Network Operators to cope with such challenges. In order to mitigate the fronthaul requirements imposed by the Cloud-RAN architecture, several functional splits, each characterized by a different demarcation point between the centralized and the distributed units, have emerged. However, the selection of the appropriate centralization level (i.e., the functional split) still remains a challenging task, since a number of parameters have to be considered in order to make such a decision. In this paper, a virtual network embedding (VNE) algorithm is proposed to flexibly select the appropriate functional split. the VNE is formulated as an Integer Linear Programming problem whose objective is to minimize the intercell interference and the fronthaul bandwidth utilization by dynamically selecting the appropriate functional split. Finally, a scalable VNE heuristic is also proposed.

A on-board ship targets detection method based on multi-scale salience enhancement is proposed. Unlike the traditional wavelet filter enhancement methods, the proposed utilizes the wavelet decomposition to obtain the high-low frequency parts, and estimate the salience feature with both parts, which enhance the ship targets efficiently. First, decompose the remote sensing image by 2-D DWT, and obtain the low-frequency part, high-frequency part of horizontal, vertical and diagonal;then, compute the OSTU threshold, which is subtracted by the low-frequency coefficients to get the low-frequency salience image;and, the high-frequency parts are used to compose the high-frequency salience image;finally, the high-low parts are fused by addition and normalized to obtain the salience map. the original data of multi sets of remote sensing images are experimented, and the results are compared with the method without the proposed salience enhancement. the proposed shows obvious salience enhancement for the low-resolution, high-noise remote sensing images.

this paper deals with the problem of detection of distributed multi-input multi-output (MIMO) radar on moving platforms. We consider the detection of targets in compound-Gaussian clutter, describing the clutter consisting speckle and texture components. Furthermore, under effects of platform motion and varied scenarios, one major challenge of detector is clutter non-homogeneity. Due to these clutter models, a novel generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT) based detector is proposed. With the priori knowledge about matrix taper of the clutter covariance matrix, the detector adopts the Bayesian approach without resorting to training data that is non-homogeneity with the samples under test. To handle with the non-homogeneity of the Doppler frequencies of clutters, the detector employs a non-linear processing by iteration and reconstruction of sparse signals to estimate unknown parameters. Some simulations are presented to illustrate the superior performance of the proposed detector in thus complicated scenarios.

this paper deals with the detection problem of small and slowly-moving targets in the context of highly ambiguous pulse Doppler radar using a medium Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF). A solution for exploiting multiple-burst signals of these radars is proposed. It combines a fast iterative Maximum Likelihood (ML) estimator for target parameter estimation and ambiguities solving and an adaptive detector that uses a multiple-bursts Clutter Correlation Matrix (CCM) estimator to increase the number of Training data (TD). Simulation results show that the proposed approach allows to resolve ambiguities and reveals the presence of small targets buried into strong ground clutter response.

During an ambush it is very important to identify the direction of attack for retaliation. A gunshot localizer in this scenario can alert the troops of the incoming bullet. Firing of a gun produces a high sound pressure which can be used for locating the shooting position. Such devices also find application in high security areas to listen for any probable attacks. For detecting and localizing a gunshot, an array of microphones connected to a data Acquisition and processing Unit is employed. the microphones listen to acoustical events and the associated system continuously looks for any signal of interest. Following the signal detection Time Difference of Arrival of the sound at the different microphones are processed to extract the positional information of a gunshot. the positional information comprises of Azimuth, Elevation and Range of the source of gunfire relative to the sensor array. We at CDAC, Trivandrum have developed an Acoustic Gun Shot Detector for small fire arms and extensive field trials were conducted for system evaluation at firing ranges. this paper presents an analysis of the Acoustical Characteristics of small firearms based on the recorded data and test results of field trials.
