the Light-Fidelity (Li-Fi) is a wireless communication technology that is light-based and can complete wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) technologies for many applications. Li-Fi technology which uses light spectrum is a technology for solving the lack of radio spectrum at Wi-Fi. One of the main benefits of Li-Fi technology is the ability to communicate by light with a high level of safety. However, the signal of Li-Fi technology is the same as other signals that are susceptible to eavesdropping because no security system is infallible. the objective of this paper is to decrease the computational cost of encryption and decryption and keep the security of transformed data when transmitted via Li-Fi technology. this study proposes the advanced Rivest Cipher 4 (ARC4) algorithm that will be used in the physical layer of Li-Fi applications. the novelty will be in the pseudo-random generation algorithm (PRGA) which is part of Rivest Cipher 4 (RC4). the data will become an index of the s-array and get the value of that index in the s-array instead of using the XOR operation. the proposed ARC4 was evaluated by the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) test. the obtained results illustrate that ARC4 is more robust and effective than RC4 when the data is transformed by Li-Fi communication. © 2023 ieee.

For a class of nonlinear cascade systems, a novel method is used to acquire the event-triggered control law. Different from the traditional backstepping method, by the recursive design approach of 'ascending order and descending dimension', the cascade systems are transformed into the high-order fully actuated (HOFA) model. By the HOFA system method, the control law is further obtained. the adaptive controller is designed along with the event-triggered mechanism (ETM) to save the workload and the energy in signal transmission. We prove that for the closed-loop system, all the signals are uniformly bounded at last. A simulation example is presented, which shows the effectiveness of the adaptive event-triggered controller. © 2023 ieee.

In recent years, robot-assisted surgery has become increasingly popular in the medical field. the current practice of craniotomy, which involves a surgeon manually operating a skull drill, is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and carries a high risk of complications. To overcome these problems, this paper proposes an adaptive impedance zero-force control method based on human-machine interaction. the proposed method uses a human-in-the-loop control system to achieve zero-force mode for the robot, while also allowing it to adaptively switch modes under different conditions. A skull drilling status model is established by monitoring changes in drilling currently and interactive force using a drilling sensor to provide drilling protection. Simulation results verify the feasibility of the algorithm for detecting changes in current peak values and also confirm the effectiveness of the drag function, mode switching under different conditions, and the function of skull drill stops by experiment. the results demonstrate that this method effectively enables mode switching and drill-stop functionality during the drag and drop process. © 2023 ieee.

In order to mitigate the adverse impact of denial of service (DoS) attacks, this work designs a parameter self-tuning controller based on fuzzy rules for vehicle platoons with vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications. Aiming at achieving the cooperative adaptive cruise control (CACC) of the vehicles with a required inter-vehicle distance and the same velocity, while considering the possible DoS attacks, we propose a parameter self-tuning longitudinal controller combining linear control and fuzzy control to enhance the stability and resilience of the platoon systems. Firstly, by analyzing the dynamic characteristics of vehicles and the mechanism of DoS attacks, we establish the dynamic model of vehicle platoons and model the impact of random DoS attacks as a constant data transmission delay, whose probability distribution can be defined using the Bernoulli random variable. then, a linear controller based on fuzzy control is designed for longitudinal control to guarantee that the platoon keeps a reference velocity and the specified inter-vehicle distance under DoS attacks. Finally, thorough simulations are performed and the detailed results show the performance of the secure longitudinal control scheme for vehicle platoons in terms of stability and security. © 2023 ieee.

in present paper we develop the automatic optimal control of the production process of dough mixture preparation, that can be used in the production of alcohol and fuel ethanol from grain raw materials. Known methods of automatic control of the dough preparation process are based on measuring a consumption of raw materials and a concentration of dough and regulating the water supply. We offer an improved method based on robust stabilization nonlinear process control that will ensure more stable operation of the system, smooth transitions of regimes and economy of used energy, improvement of a quality of the mixture dough, as well as final ethanol product. the optimal operating modes of experimental installation were investigated using state-space dynamical modelling technic and ethanol production process simulation. © 2023 ieee.

Microfluidics is a research field which allow us control over liquids at micrometric scale. It has several applications such as chemistry, biomedicine and biology, among others. Microfluidics enable the development of systems capable of cell manipulation and very precise chemical reactions with substantial improvements over common or bulk synthesis, let us fabricate nanocarriers with specific characteristics. In fact, the customization of variables is what makes it so versatile. One of the main issues we deal with is the control and injection of small volume fluids inside the microfluidic cell, ranging in some microliters per hour with a controlled and constant velocity. Commercial systems of this kind are expensive but instead they can be replaced by a home-made system. Here we present the design and implementation of a low cost 4-channel microinjection system by using 3D printing, Arduino and LabView. the implemented pumps are capable to deliver a minimum of 70 mu l/h and a maximum of 54 ml/h of fluid, are scalable, easy to reproduce and low cost, making available for a wide range of researchers, the time of development is small compared with the acquisition and importation time, from a couple of days against months, with a price in the range of hundreds instead thousands of dollars and with similar characteristics to those commercially available.

this paper presents a new open-source device Flexy for laboratory exercising in control education. this device is a simple dynamical system with one actuator and one sensor. the actuator is a compact fan with variable speed, and the sensor is a flexible resistor that is bending as an effect of air flow produced by the fan. Flexy also provides an additional potentiometer knob that acts as a second continuous input and its purpose can be programmed by a user. Students that use the device in laboratory exercises for a variety of control engineering tasks, such as system identification, signal processing, control design and its applications. control tasks can be implemented in embedded fashion because Flexy incorporates an Arduino board. Alternatively, the control can be designed using MATLAB/Simulink. the paper provides a physical and operational description of Flexy, software description and ways it can be used to control the device. the last part of the paper is dedicated to the use of Flexy in control education, along with an example of typical tasks that students can tackle in laboratory exercises. © 2018 ieee.

the photovoltaic (PV) system's nonlinear nature, uncertainty in temperature, and light intensity in the environment are responsible for the fluctuation of the maximum power point (MPP). Many maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms are proven effective in the literature, including use of artificial intelligence. Proportional integral derivative controller and fuzzy controllers found effective to track MPP. Using the combination of Fuzzy-PID controller, swiftly adapt to changes in the atmosphere to confirm the solar array is continually operating at its highest efficiency with MPP. Easy and effective oscillation elimination is possible with PID control. To regulate the maximum power of the PV system combination of Fuzzy-PID self-tuning controllers is found *** goal is to enhance a PV system's dynamic response to in presence of irradiation and temperature fluctuations. For tuning Fuzzy logic controller (FLC), gain scheduler values of the proportional, integral, and derivative constants are fundamental. the design processes for non-linear conventional PID controllers, FLC, and series combination of Fuzzy-PID controller are discussed. It compares the traditional PID controller, FLC, and Fuzzy-PID controller. the comparison of outputs produced for PID, FLC, and series Fuzzy-PID controller confirms the effectiveness of the algorithm. Use of Fuzzy controller helps in self-tuning of PID controller constant value. MATLAB/Simulink based environment used to perform the simulations. © 2022 ieee.

In this article, a robust nonlinear backstepping anti-disturbance fault-tolerant control scheme is developed for surface ship with time-varying environmental disturbances and actuator faults conditions. the ship tracking composite anti-disturbance fault-disturbance control law is designed by the fusion of disturbance observer and fault observer with backstepping control method. the disturbance observer is utilized to provide on-line estimates of the disturbance in the time-varying ocean environment. the fault observer is employed to provide the on-line estimates of the occurrence of actuator faults. It is proved by illustrative simulations that the closed-loop control system is stable and the ship position and heading tracking can be achieved. © 2023 ieee.

the search for less polluting means of transport has intensified the research and promotion of electric vehicles (EVs). Unlike conventional vehicles, EVs have an electric power circuit composed of power electronic converters that together make up the battery charging system and the powertrain. these systems usually have different voltage levels, so it is attractive to use isolated converters, for example, the Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter. Among the various techniques used to control converters, the application of model predictive control (MPC) has recently become evident. the advantages of predictive control are the design based on plant equations, the ease of implementation, and good precision and accuracy. In MPC the search for the desired setpoint is performed by minimizing a cost function. In the present study, the minimization of the cost function is achieved using the gradient descent technique. Also, computer simulations performed on the Matlab/Simulink platform with the DAB converter being controlled by MPC and MPC with gradient descent are presented and the results compared and discussed. © 2023 ieee.
