the regulation and stabilization of the power grid requires various system services that have been provided so far primarily by conventional power plants. With the future shutdown of coal-fired and nuclear power plants, investigations into the provision of these services will become all the more important in order to ensure the safe operation of the grid. Currently, photovoltaic and wind can only provide limited so-called control power, so that new methods such as the regulation of large consumers will become interesting. Adapting the electricity requirements of consumers to the current grid situation has a comparable effect to the provision of additional balancing power on the generation side. Some consumers like data centers can provide primary control power at high speed. In this paper we present how data centers can autonomously support grid stabilization with minimal impact on the daily operation. Additional benefits include an higher efficiency and the ability to take advantage of any future financial bonuses by regulation authorities or electricity suppliers. © 2020 ieee.

As an effective signal acquisition and reconstruction scheme, compressed sensing (CS) is widely used in measurement and reconstruction of Internet of things (IoT). CS can recover images from fewer measurements compared with traditional signal acquisition and reconstruction methods. Recently, many deep learning based CS methods are proposed for image reconstruction and achieve better performance compared with traditional CS reconstruction methods. However these methods usually divide the image into blocks and utilize random measurement matrix for block measurement, which ignores the correlation between blocks. Furthermore, some existing reconstruction methods based on deep learning only adopt simple channel convolutional neural networks (CNN) to complete image reconstruction, which does not make full use of CNN's presentation ability. In order to solve the above problems, we proposes a novel image measurement and reconstruction framework to achieve high quaulity reconstruction. In measurement part, we use a convolutional layer instead of random measurement matrix to directly acquire all measurements which provides more construction information for subsequent image reconstruction and removes block effect. In reconstruction part, this paper firstly uses a deconvolution layer to obtain an initial reconstructed image which has same dimension as the input image. then we employ multiple parallel CNN to obtain multiple feature information. the multiple parallel CNN include dilated convolution kernels of different receptive field to increase the network's receptive field, which can obtain more image structural information for reconstruction. the results show that the performance of image reconstruction is greatly ameliorated compared with the existing the state-of-the-art methods. © 2020 ieee.

With the continuous deepening of international anti-terrorism movement,the anti-terrorism has entered a new stage,and it is facing new *** of the new challenges is to extract useful and valuable information from massive data *** anti-terrorism system model based on local shallow information is imperfect,which is not conducive to obtaining accurate prediction *** shortcomings of existing research are the lack of comprehensive analysis and deeper mining of *** order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the present anti-terrorism system,we propose an effective method for risk assessment and prediction based on machine learning by using Global Terrorism Database(GTD).there are four basic steps:first,we reduce the data dimension through correlation calculation and Singular Value Decomposition(SVD),then,the function is established to rank the harmfulness of terrorist attacks;second,the cascaded network with attention mechanism is used to predict suspects;third,k-means is used to cluster the regions of terrorist attacks,and then we establish a generalized linear regression model to predict the situation of terrorist *** verify the feasibility of the model by comparing with the real *** experimental results show that the proposed method can analyze and predict the information related to terrorist attacks comprehensively and accurately.

With the wide application of modern robots, more concerns have been raised on security and privacy of robotic systems and applications. Although the Robot Operating system (ROS) is commonly used on different robots, there have been few work considering the security aspects of ROS. As ROS does not employ even the basic permission control mechanism, applications can access any resources without limitation, which could result in equipment damage, harm to human, as well as privacy leakage. In this paper we propose an access control mechanism for ROS based on an extended policy-based access control (PBAC) model. Specifically, we extend ROS to add an additional node dedicated for access control so that it can provide user identity and permission management services. the proposed mechanism also allows the administrator to revoke a permission dynamically. We implemented the proposed method in ROS and demonstrated its applicability and performance through several case studies.

the paper considers data security issues in vehicleto-infrastructure communications, where vehicles stream data to a road side unit. We assume aggregated data in road side units can be stored or used for data analytics. In this environment, there are issues in regards to the scalability of key management and computation limitations at the edge of the network. To address these issues, we suggest the formation of groups in the vehicle layer, where a group leader is assigned to communicate with group devices and the road side unit. We propose a lightweight permutation mechanism for preserving the confidentiality of sensory data.

this paper proposes a method to prevent cascading trip based on the action of relay protection and the output of generator as the optimization variable for aiming at the cascading trip in power grid. Firstly, the critical state of cascading trip is discussed, and the safety index of cascading trip in power grid is analyzed based on the analysis of the performance of cascading trip and the action of relay protection. On the basis of this index, a kind of optimized model of cascading trip prevention is given while considering the various constraints of power grid synthetically. this paper presents a complete algorithm flow for solving the optimized model combined with particle swarm optimization algorithm aiming at the proposed optimized model. Finally, on a ieee39 system, an example is analyzed by the MATLAB program, which verifies the rationality of the proposed method. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.

Smart city is a concept that leverages IoT (Internet of things) for efficient operations. Many use cases have been proposed, for example efficient garbage collection, smart traffic control, improvement of safety and security of cities, and disaster recovery. To provide better services, information from several domains need to be integrated. For example, in a case of a disaster recovery from an earthquake, a traffic control system and a medical emergency system should collaboratively work for efficient ambulance delivery to patients. However, such inter-domain collaboration imposes security risks regarding confidentiality. Especially, information leakage of privacy-sensitive data such as medical information must be prevented. Another risk is integrity of the information. An IoT platform needs to ensure that only privileged persons can update the information. Unfortunately, it is not clear what type of the access control is required in smart city. In this paper, we analyze use cases of smart city and clarify requirements of access control for the smart city IoT platform. We also examine attribute-based access control to satisfy the requirements. We further investigate requirements of internal access control of smart city IoT platform, and proposes an access control mechanism based on information flow history to control information flow between components of the platform.

controllers of security-critical cyber-physical systems, like the power grid, are a very important class of computer systems. Attacks against the control code of a power-grid system, especially zero-day attacks, can be catastrophic. Earlier detection of the anomalies can prevent further damage. However, detecting zero-day attacks is extremely challenging because they have no known code and have unknown behavior. Furthermore, if data collected from the controller is transferred to a server through networks for analysis and detection of anomalous behavior, this creates a very large attack surface and also delays detection. In order to address this problem, we propose Reconstruction Error Distribution (RED) of Hardware Performance Counters (HPCs), and a data-driven defense system based on it. Specifically, we first train a temporal deep learning model, using only normal HPC readings from legitimate processes that run daily in these power-grid systems, to model the normal behavior of the power-grid controller. then, we run this model using real-time data from commonly available HPCs. We use the proposed RED to enhance the temporal deep learning detection of anomalous behavior, by estimating distribution deviations from the normal behavior with an effective statistical test. Experimental results on a real power-grid controller show that we can detect anomalous behavior with high accuracy (>99.9%), nearly zero false positives and short (<360ms) latency.

Random bit generator (RBG) is one of the most crucial part of cryptographic applications. In many systems, due to unavailability of true randomness source(s), deterministidpseudo-random hit generators (DRBG) are used to generate pseudo-random hit-strings. However, recent studies have shown that, if the seed used to initialise DRBGs is obtained from a source producing low entropy hits, it can lead to serious security incidents. Hence, identifying reliable and pervasive source of (true) randomness has been an active area of research. In this work, we investigate the suitability of a ubiquitous source of randomness produced in a power grid's electric network, called Electric Network Frequency (ENF), for building a noise source for RBGs. ENF fluctuates around its mean value due to unpredictable power grid system loads. We build a low cost ENF recording device, and conduct extensive analysis of the captured dataset. Our results show that ENF exhibits good randomness properties and can be employed to build noise source for RBGs.

Fog computing is now emerging as the dominating paradigm bridging the compute and connectivity gap between sensing devices and latency-sensitive services. However, as fog deployments scale by accumulating numerous devices interconnected over highly dynamic and volatile network fabrics, the need for self-healing in the presence of failures is more evident. Using the prevailing methodology of self-stabilization, we propose a fault-tolerant framework for control planes that enables fog services to cope and recover from a very broad fault model. Specifically, our model considers network uncertainties, packet drops, node fail-stops and violations of the assumptions according to which the system was designed to operate (e.g., system state corruption). Our self-stabilizing algorithms guarantee automatic recovery within a constant number of communication rounds without the need for external (human) intervention. To showcase the framework's effectiveness, the correctness proof of the self-stabilizing algorithmic process is accompanied by a comprehensive evaluation featuring an open and reproducible testbed utilizing real-world data from the smart vehicle domain. Results show that our framework ensures a fog system recovers from faults in constant time, analytics are computed correctly, while the control plane overhead scales linearly towards the IoT load.
