Wireless mesh network is a technology that can dynamically self-organize and self-heal, provide flexible integration, rapid installation, easy maintenance, low cost, high scalability, and secure service capabilities. this technology includes mesh routers and mesh clients. they enable integration into networks such as the Internet, ieee 802.11, ieee 802.15, ieee 802.16 and sensor networks through bridging capabilities in gateways and mesh routers. Wireless mesh networks provide wireless services for personal, local, campus and metropolitan area applications. In this paper, a method and an apparatus to deploy a wireless mesh network its and network nodes are described. In particular, a network with network node neighborhoods is described. A node consists of an antenna and a transceiver controller. Nodes are configured for installation with MAC addresses and geographic coordination with the network. In addition, the software architecture for the mesh network is described.

At present, one of the main issues of interest is climate change. It triggers calamitous phenomena (fires, hydrogeological instability and many others) that put crops, vegetation and even human beings at risk. Considering the phenomenon of hydrogeological instability, there is a wide range of smart application contexts (for example, smart city, smart road and smart agriculture), which require a real-time rainfall level monitoring, recognition and classification system. this system is supposed to provide accurate and real-time estimates of rain intensity and alert those in charge in order to reduce the risks associated with the various application contexts. thus, the present paper proposes an audio sensor enabled real-time audio rainfall classification, based on 1-D convolutional neural network (CNN) which offers 95% classification accuracy in five rainfall intensity classes.

Pattern recognition in candlestick charts poses a formidable challenge due to the intricate shapes and intrinsic noise in financial data. this study addresses the critical need of a dataset to accurate pattern identification, with a specific focus on four highly used patterns: Head and Shoulder, Reverse Head and Shoulder, Double Top, and Double Bottom. the proposed modified YOLOv8 model excels in detecting patterns, achieving a mAP@50 value of 86.1%. the model's stability and consistency across epochs underscore its potential for real-time financial market analysis and short-term trading applications. this work pioneers the application of Object Detection models as an effective strategy for addressing pattern recognition challenges in financial markets, promising advancements in technical analysis.

Multi-core computing platforms have recently been introduced in the vehicle domain to enable novel data-intensive and computation-demanding features in advanced real-time embedded system applications (e.g., a modern car) that could not be supported by traditional single-core computing platforms. Although the existing model- and component-based software development techniques can efficiently deal with the challenge of managing the software complexity in these systems, the core challenge of ensuring their timing predictability comes at the cost of performance loss and underutilization of the systems’ resources. this paper identifies a sheer standoff between ensuring timing predictability and performance when the traditional model- and component-based software development techniques are used to develop software architectures of these systems. Note that ensuring timing predictability of a real-time system during its development is as important as ensuring its correct logical functionality. this paper takes the position that the traditional techniques fail to resolve this standoff mainly because they consider the following three viewpoints either in isolation or in pairs, but not altogether: (i) viewpoint of the software architecture modeling, (ii) viewpoint of the execution environment modeling, and (iii) viewpoint of the timing predictability verification. To mitigate this standoff, the paper discusses several approaches and points out opportunities for further research in developing a novel model- and component-based software development framework that jointly considers the three viewpoints during the development of these systems.

the increasing complexity of modern applications calls for more complex embedded computing resources, which integrate several processing units with specialized hardware and virtualization support on a single platform to boost the computation capabilities. these subsystems require a communication system able to support different flows with diverse real-time requirements. In this context, the time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) family of standards plays an important role. this work proposes the design and the implementation of a framework for enabling TSN communications in heterogeneous platforms with virtualization. Preliminary experimental results are reported, which provide some insights on the limitations and advantages of the proposed framework.

With the increasing number of user languages supported by Web applications, internationalization support has become an important function in Web applications. In the Web application test, during the Web UI layout issues, this paper proposes an automatic detection method. this method can perform the real-time UI layout detection for the rendered Web application page, aiming to find the UI layout issues that existed in the different user languages' UI pages, such as string truncation, element nodes overlap. this method realizes automatic detection and analysis, filtering detection results. Experimental tests show that this method can accurately detect Web UI layout issues and improve test efficiency. It provides reference and help for enterprises in automated testing and international testing. © 2021 ieee.

the rise of technologies such as 6G networks, edge computing, and the Industrial Internet has led to a dramatic increase in the amount of data that needs to be transmitted over heterogeneous integrated networks. the resources of embedded devices limit the ability of the Industrial Internet to transmit data. While the multipath transmission mechanism can mitigate data transmission issues of low reliability and low real-time performance from the network-level perspective. As the complexity of industry applications increases, however, the phenomenon that the high-quality data transmission is subject to the influence of the underlying layer is becoming increasingly apparent. the paper aims to explores the possibility of multipath transmission protocol running on a real-time kernel from the perspective of the operating system, as there is a lack of research and reports in this area. Based on RT-Preempt, a real-time system RT-Linux suitable for the “NXP ***6Q” ARM integrated board has been proposed, which replaces the native Linux kernel to optimize and enhance its real-time performance. As described in the experiment part, the original standard Linux system OR-Linux and the new RT-Linux are tested with single-threaded and multi-threaded load experiments, respectively. the results of the analysis show that this paper provides a way of validating the trial data and ensuring its accuracy using the lognormal distribution model, which is a statistical distribution used to model variables that are positive and skewed to the right. the RT-Linux scheme has better real-time performance and is more stable than the OR-Linux scheme after real-time processing, showing the viability of the scheme.

Data Analytics (DA) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms today are inside many applications and systems. they provide state-of-the-art anomaly detection, pattern recognition, health monitoring, predictive maintenance, or help to optimize and calibrate parameter combinations. However, they usually require strong compute resources. It is therefore a challenge to deploy the corresponding algorithms on edge devices or in embedded systems, such as on cloud-decoupled drives and drive systems, as these usually have strict resource constraints. In this work, we look at the deployment of DA/ML algorithms on combinations of resource-constraint edge and device environments. We present our framework for the structured and guided definition, setup, distribution, and deployment of such DA/ML algorithms. A guided workflow leads a user through algorithm specification and configuration. While doing so, it extracts information, which is necessary for the distribution and deployment of the DA/ML algorithm to a suitable device-edge combination. With this solution, a DA/ML algorithm can be executed for sensor data processing and, in the ML context, for inference, on device-edge combinations without permanent cloud connection, e.g., on a drive/gateway combination on a cruise ship, so that it can be used for real-time anomaly detection or pattern analysis.

Modern embedded systems must be designed carefully to cope with the complexity and real-time requirements of modern AI (Artificial Intelligence) driven automotive applications, such as Advanced Driver-Assistance systems (ADAS). Despite increasing complexity, the time to market is decreasing. In this work, a SystemC-based Virtual Prototype of a neural network processing platform is exploited to bypass the limitations of standalone instruction set simulators (ISS) and FPGA prototyping. the processing platform under test is based on a novel massive parallel vector processor architecture coupled with a RISC- V control core that runs widely used convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for object detection. the paper discusses the variations and appropriateness of the three prototyping methods outlined, demonstrating how the Virtual Prototype can address the aforementioned constraints, resulting in a 2.07x increase in accuracy, 16x greater configurations, and more profound insights into the system compared to standalone and FPGA prototyping.

real traffic situations are one of the most challenging scenarios for vehicle following systems, such as pedestrians can interfere unexpectedly or vehicles ahead with the small distance or a vehicle cuts into ego vehicle's lane. In this framework, this paper proposes coordination between three modes, consisting of cruise control mode, follow mode, safe mode. In real-time applications, we develop a type of smart car for the subject robot to travel in the laboratory world and is to activate one of three modes to keep reference velocity or maintain desired distance or even stop to avoid collisions, switching thresholds based on the real distance is measured by measuring distance mounted on the robot. the subject robot is strictly analyzed in different driving situations corresponding to the two scenarios, providing encouraging results and demonstrated the autonomous traveling performance.
