the authors present an economic way to hide patient diagnosis information in electrocardiogram (ECG) signal based on smart offset coefficient. Simulations indicated that hiding capacity is larger than existing techniques while the perceived quality is good. Moreover, the method is tolerant of the attacks such as inversion, translation, truncation, and Gaussian noise-addition attacks, which is rare in conventional ECG steganographic schemes. Since the privacy (or medical message) of the patients can be fast and effective embedded in ECG host by the proposed method, it is feasible for our method being employed in real-time applications.

Having been considered as a key enabler for the Internet of things (IoT), the ieee 802.15.4 standard is, now, emerging as a main pillar of the evolving Industrial IoT (IIoT), thanks to its time Slotted Channel Hopping (TSCH) mode. TSCH allows nodes, in an IIoT network, to hop between the 16 channels of the ieee 802.15.4 standard within specified timeslots in order to meet the reliability and real-time requirements of industrial applications, while saving nodes energy. A TSCH schedule dictates to each node what to do in each timeslot, that is: send, receive or sleep. However, the ieee 802.15.4-TSCH specification does not provide mechanisms on how to build or maintain such a schedule. To address this issue, many solutions have been recently proposed, including a standard minimal schedule (TSCH-Minimal) by the Internet Engineering Task Force and a promising advanced solution dubbed Orchestra. this paper presents a comprehensive study and a performance evaluation of these state-of-the-art solutions in order to extract their advantages and drawbacks. Obtained results from extensive realistic simulations conducted in dedicated IIoT platforms, show that, overall, Orchestra outperforms TSCH-Minimal in reliability and energy aspects. On the latency and complexity aspects, however, TSCH-Minimal has shown noticeable performance. Based on such results, this study concludes the need for a hybrid TSCH scheduling mechanism that benefits from both worlds. © 2018 ieee.

the Water is an significant resource for individual human and its existence. Nowadays, the population in cities are increasing rapidly, due to certain amount of people migration from a rural area to urban areas. To meet the need of water requirement, its distribution and quality check, a novel approach is proposed which is based on IoT (Internet of things). the proposed system consists of different sensors like water flow sensor, pH Sensor, water control valve, and a microcontroller. A water control valve is controlled through web interface based on water flow sensor value to ensure equal and adequate water distribution to each connection (end point). the pH sensor is used to measure the quality of the water. the pressure sensor is used to measure the water flow pressure and the leakage detection in pipe is also measured. the distribution of water and management of water flow through the pipe can be controlled in this paper. © 2018 ieee.

Smart grids are becoming increasingly closer to consumers, especially residential consumers, bringing with them a wide range of possibilities. the level of information obtained on a smart grid will be much higher when compared to a traditional network and at this point, more informed consumers tend to consume more efficiently, bringing benefits to themselves and to the system. An interesting fact for control within a residence is forecasting consumption, allowing the consumer to know in advance how much to consume up to a certain period. Artificial neural networks are one of several methods used to forecast time series, however, require a high volume of historical data for the training of the network, given that these may not be accessible or even exist. At this point, the objective of this work is to evaluate the use of load curves obtained through computational tools for the pre-training of artificial neural networks used in the consumption forecast. A tool is used to create random load curves according to the region and socioeconomic characteristics. the load curves are transformed into cumulative consumption curves and used as training vectors of the artificial neural network. the results of the tests were very promising, they showed that the pretraining with the virtual data makes possible the forecast of the time series even in the absence of real data for the training, showing that the methodology developed has great potential of application in works related to the forecast consumption. © 2018 ieee.

the problem of schedulability analysis, i.e., determining whether a given task set meets its deadline constraints, has been extensively studied in the real-time systems literature. However, if a task set is not schedulable, then the schedulability analysis results using known techniques (such as utilization-based tests) offer little insight into which task parameters could be changed or refined, in order to make the task set schedulable. To address this problem, we encode the schedulability analysis problem as an equivalent model checking problem. By analyzing the counterexamples reported by the model checker, we discover subsets of values of task parameters that lead to timing violations. We propose a procedure that iteratively refines the task specification by rejecting these subsets, thereby converging towards schedulability. We believe that this approach would be useful for timing debugging of real-time systems, which has received relatively less attention in the literature, especially given its practical relevance.

Stereo matching consists in extracting 3D information from digital images, such as those obtained by a CCD camera. It is an important issue under several real world applications, such as positioning systems for mobile robots, augmented reality systems, etc. In previous works one of the most popular trend to address the stereo matching challenge is that compares scene information from two viewpoints (left-right) with an eppipolar geometry via correlation metrics. In regard to the correlation metrics, most previous works compute the similarity between pixels in the left image and pixels in the right image using a correlation index computed on neighborhoods of these pixels called correlation windows. Unfortunately, in order to preserve edges, small correlation windows need to be used, while, for homogeneous areas, large correlation windows are required. To address this problem, we lay down on the hypothesis that small correlation windows combined with large correlation windows should deliver accurate results under homogeneous areas while at the same time edges are preserved. To validate our hypothesis, in this paper a similarity criterion based on the grayscale homogeneity of the correlation window being processed is presented. Preliminary results are encourageous, validates our hypothesis and demonstrated the viability performance and scope of the proposed approach.

It is a challenging task to track pedestrian accurately in complicated environment such as illumination, background variation, object occlusion, scale variation, noise, and fast motion. Aiming at these problems, the tracking algorithm based on HSV color features and reconstruction by contributions is proposed. the proposed algorithm extracts the mixed color features of target in HSV space to generate the target template set within the particle filter framework. According to the influence of different regions on the tracking results, the contribution of the region is distributed. And it is introduced into the adaptive regularization model, the region with the minimum reconstruction error is determined as the target to be tracked. In order to be more robust, the templates are updated in real time during the tracking progress. Experiments on OTB100 sequences shows that the proposed algorithm can realize the continuous tracking in complex video scenes and is beneficial to be applied to the practice as a result of its better robustness. the average center error of tracking results and tracking success rate are 0.6624 pixel and 0.4153. © 2018 ieee.

As we move forward toward the fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems, an increasing interest is devoted to heterogeneous broadband access techniques and application requirements. In this paper, we propose a linear programming formulation for the inter-class scheduling problem in OFDMA systems. Our objective is to efficiently and fairly allocate the limited system resources to both real-time and non real-time applications. Taking advantage of the medium size of this problem and the rapid growth of computational power, we find that it will be possible to use linear programming algorithms to solve it. However, because of the capacity constraint, an infeasibility may occur, which is unacceptable for this online problem. To overcome this issue, we extend the system with dummy subchannels that will accept the unsatisfied demands. Computational results show that it is possible to solve this joint scheduling problem within reasonable time for moderately and heavy loaded system.

An experimental confirmation of predictive control applied to a bidirectional interleaved three-phase (BIT) converter is presented. the BIT converter is a powerful solution for numerous applications, mainly, renewables interface, motor drivers, active rectifiers, and active power filters. However, a precise and robust digital control strategy is required, maintaining a low computational effort. In this paper, a predictive control based on continuous control set is proposed as a new control scheme for the BIT converter, permitting the control of the ac side current with fixed switching frequency and with a faster response. the predictive control scheme applied to the BIT converter is defined along the paper, evidencing in detail the digital employment aspects according to the discrete-time model of the BIT converter. An explicit experimental validation under realistic operating conditions is presented using a developed laboratorial prototype, highlighting the convenience of the control applied to the BIT converter. © 2018 ieee.
