the CAN bus still is an important fieldbus in various domains, e.g. for in-car communication or automation applications. To counter security threats and concerns in such scenarios we design, implement, and evaluate the use of an end-to-end security concept based on the Transport Layer Security protocol. It is used to establish authenticated, integrity checked, and confidential communication channels between field devices connected via CAN. Our performance measurements show that it is possible to use TLS at least for non time-critical applications, as well as for generic embedded networks. Security of Internet of things (IoT) devices is important for the acceptance of IoT applications. Several security mechanisms have been proposed, however, due to the limited resources in IoT devices, their overhead should be evaluated carefully. Many existing security solutions have been evaluated by simulation. However, with the increasing deployment of real nodes, a more accurate result based on real hardware is necessary. this research aims to evaluate the impact of applying security features of ieee 802.15.4 on example hardware. the evaluation includes the impact on the Microcontroller Unit (MCU), radio, latency, packet throughput and transmission power. the results show that enabling software security services impact limited devices significantly. this impact could be translated into a decrease in throughput to almost 44%, an increase in latency and energy consumption to almost 197% and 86% respectively with maximum security level. the outcome of this paper is intended to benefit network designers and researchers by allowing them to model security overhead, allowing them to choose the security level, if enabled, which suits their application requirements. the objective of this paper is to describe an implementation of a Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC) algorithm for a Field programmable Gate Array (FPGA). the DMC algorithm is implemented in a universal version for multiple-input multiple-output dynamic processes. the results of real experiments are presented in which the DE2i-150 development board produced by Terasic with Intel Cyclone IV GX chip is used. As the controlled process a laboratory stand especially developed for this work is used, which is a dynamic system with two manipulated inputs and two controlled outputs. the implemented DMC controller is very fast, it may be used for controlling processed which need sampling periods of a millisecond order. Power management is one of the key aspects to consider in low-power embedded systems design. It is a delicate art of minimizing system's power consumption while maintaining its required functionalities. Well-tuned power management becomes even more crucial in systems without any possibility of energy harvesting, which rely only on battery power supply. this contribution addresses the above issue by studying a low-power system's battery voltage level and capacity profiles in various operating modes, and lists the arrangements having the most significant impact on extension of system's operating time. the applied methods and configurations were tested on an embedded Li-ion battery-powered system featuring a microcontroller Freescale FRDM-KL25Z and a "gas gauge" battery monitoring circuit LTC 2941. the paper describes remote approach to the control of thermo-opto-mechanical plant. the attention is devoted to a low-cost realization, where the ordinary desktop computer is substituted by one board computer Raspberry Pi. the plant provides a control of three variables: temperature, light intensity and rpm of the fan. the feedback control is realized by a proportional integral derivative controller. the setting of controller parameters and required value of output can be done by remote user not only before the experiment but also during its execution. this paper presents performance benchmarks of several high-level LAPACK subroutines converted to C language in the author's previous work. the tested algorithms cover singular value decomposition (DGESDD), eigenvalues (DGEES, DGEEV) and Sylvester equation (DTR-SYL modified for general matrices). Benchmarks compare: original LAPACK functions compiled by GFortran, C language versions compiled by GCC and by Visual Studio 2015 (VS2015) and C language versions embedded to REX function blocks compiled by VS2015 for Windows and by GCC for Raspbian. All tests are provided on the PC with Windows and on the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+,the computation speed on Raspberry Pi is similar in all cases but on PC the speed for matrices of orders 250 and higher is up to 1.5 times faster compared to the speed of original code compiled by GFortran. the paper deals with automatic software-based test generation for processors. Processors are basic blocks of current complex systems on chip and embedded systems. Processors testing can be extended by functional tests or using various application programs. Such types of tests are serving as additional tests to structural testing or as tests used in verification. Functional tests (programs) are generated over an instruction set architecture and processor model description. A metric for quality evaluation of the software-based tests is obviously provided by code coverage of a processor model. A new functional test generation method is based on VHDL model of processors and genetic algorithms with using various evolutionary strategies. the contribution to the SBST methods based on GAs using the latest defined ES was identified. Functionality and effectiveness of the developed methods were evaluated in the implemented system AGenMIX over two types of RISC processor. Aiming at increased lighting comfort, new types of light fixtures may currently be seen that may not only be dimmed, but can also adjust the temperature of the light. the ability to adjust the brightness and color temperature is not only supposed to create a pleasant atmosphere, but it may also have a positive effect on human organism, especially if luminaries can be controlled to get as close as possible to the dynamics of natural light. the change in color temperature is known to affect the production of the melatonin hormone in the human body. this capacity is especially useful in situations where we need to increase the alertness of people working at night and thus increase their performance when carrying out certain tasks. this paper deals with the design of a low-cost solution for the power supply units of LED light fittings able to adjust the brightness and temperature of light aiming to achieve the best electrical parameters. While working on the design, the possibility of adding other electronic components to the power supply was considered, which would further increase its usefulness in the future. Experimental results of the power supply efficiency measurements for different control frequencies are presented. the paper describes FPGA based temperature measurement system, for parallel monitoring of temperatures of the power semiconductors devices in RF power amplifiers. Proposed system allows for fast detection of the asymmetry in parallel RF power amplifier caused by failure of a single semiconductor power device like CMOS or MOSFET high power transistor. this information is important for evaluation of the system efficiency, current flow symmetry, and allowable output power in a given RF amplifier configuration. the article presents original concept of reading measurements from many 1-wire temperature sensors with minimal time delay between individual measurements thanks to digital temperature sensors operating on separate serial 1-Wire buses. FPGA device collects data from the temperature sensors and sends them through wireless interface to a remote terminal. the structure of the system as well as particular devices are described in the paper. the paper also presents selected results of practical experiments performed to confirm that the assumed concept of using an FPGA device to perform the high simultaneous readings from many sensors is feasible.
