Real-time group communication is fundamental to many emerging interactive multimedia applications. Communication among the group members is N-to-N in that any number of group members may generate data and control packets destined to all the other members at the same time. Redundancy Reduction Gossip (RRG) is a highly effective real-time N-to-N dynamic group protocol over the Internet and demonstrates churn and sporadic traffic coping capability. In this paper, a peer-to-peer (P2P) real-time group communication protocol based on RRG is proposed for Content-Centric Network (CCN). A highly effective synergy between RRG and the capability of CCN is exploited. Effects include connectivity expansion, traffic reduction and latency improvement. the proposed protocol allows information distributed from an arbitrary number of dynamic sources in a group. It has low latency and minimal membership maintenance.

Stream processing applications are increasingly de-ployed on hierarchical geo-distributed edge-cloud environments. Applications in such environments require frequent deployment reconfigurations to balance performance and cost by optimally utilizing the diverse resources. Recently, late-binding stream processing frameworks using a hierarchical network of routers have been introduced to seamlessly execute such reconfigurations with minimal impact on application performance. However, late-binding frameworks face scalability challenges as the routers can become a bottleneck. this restricts the maximum throughput that can be achieved by the network. We propose StreamBucket, a novel protocol that increases the capacity of late-binding routers by intelligently batching the tuples at various levels of the routing network and employs header compression techniques to reduce bandwidth. We design a model to predict the optimal batch size for unseen workloads, which reduces the amount of costly profiling. Our evaluations show that StreamBucket achieves up to 5x improvement in throughput using multi-tier batching and between 15% to 85% in bandwidth savings when using our protocol's compressed header.

the next-generation network system is envisioned to be a multi-service network supporting different applications with multiple requirements. In this vision, Network SLicing (NSL) is considered a key mechanism to create multiple virtual networks over the same physical infrastructure. However, it is a challenging problem to deploy NSL with great flexibility and full automation. In this paper, we propose a novel lightweight SOA-based NSL creation system, which includes the design domain, execution domain, and infrastructure domain. the design domain provides an easily-operating service design environment. Besides, we define a detailed description of NSL named Network SLicing Descriptor (NSLD), illustrating the resource and requirements for designing network services. the execution domain is a service execution environment with multi-tenancy support. this domain based on micro service architecture is distributed and self-organized. the infrastructure domain contains multiple network infrastructure resource domains that enable micro services. With these components, tenants can create NSL freely via an intuitive and easy-to-use UI on a web browser. We also implement an IoT NSL scenario to solve the multi-flow transmission problem. After adding sub-services and QoS policy into the design domain, the scenario can run automatically at the execution domain.

Due to the rapid increment of the cyber attacks, intrusion detection system (IDS) is shifting towards collaborative approaches. there is a huge demand for securing larger networking environments for providing a safeguard against threats. In order to optimize the feasible detection performance, Collaborative Intrusion Detection Networks (CIDN) approaches have been adopted in practical scenarios, which enables a group of IDS nodes to mutually share and exchange mandatory information with each other, for example, IDS-signatures, attacks alarms. However, CIDN networks are distributed in nature, such networks still face plenty of implementation problems, especially, insider intruder can easily dominate any of security node and leave the entire security system vulnerable. To achieve the trust-based communication between each of IDS node, the recent advancement in blockchain applications is considered as a good fit to create trust-based communication in CIDN networks. this work converges CIDN network and blockchain in SDN context. Firstly, we investigated existing related work and highlighted challenges and research gap towards blockchain in CIDN networks. Secondly, we utilised three collaborated Snort IDS to receive the latest signature update from Ryu and then to securely share such signatures updates to all other Snort nodes within test-bed. Our work is motivated to detect seven types of common attacks with collaborated signature-based IDS, which feasibly processes more packets to achieve satisfactory detection results. Overall the evaluation results show that with the adoption of blockchain protocols, the proposed CIDN network achieves 96% of TP rate detection rate for TCP, UDP and ICMP packets.

As the core technology of the artificial intelligence in the new era, AI technology applied in health care devices has received significant attention. However, due to the limitation of the power supply and computation resource, it is difficult to implement a stable and large AI based human interaction task processing system from the remote edge devices to the centered clouds. In this paper, we propose a holistic network solution that focuses on solving the potential problems of network congestion with the explosive growth of IoT health care devices supported AI inference tasks. First, we propose a multi-hop maximum weight network to describe a DNN inference network based on edge computing. then, we propose a Maximum Weight Wave propulsion Algorithm (MWWP) algorithm to reduce the overall network latency. Finally, we build up a prototype of a distributed AI inference system and test the computation and transmission performance. Besides, through large-scale experiments, we prove the optimality of our holistic solution.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has changed different applications and markets, making them even more engaging and user-centered in Smart Cities, Smart Farms, and e-health. One such sector that has benefited from these capabilities is precision agriculture, which has seen increased productivity and more efficient and intelligent management through AI and cloud computing. By bringing computing resources closer to clients, edge devices are able to embed AI solutions near the client, reducing the time it takes to transfer data to High-Performance computing (HPC) centers. the latest approaches explore lightweight or distributed Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) methods for training and prediction tasks in edge devices using medical, satellite, or precision agriculture images. In this paper, we hypothesized that prediction tasks in precision agriculture can be more easily and seamlessly assigned to edge devices as long as pre-trained AI models are embedded in these devices through Artificial Intelligence as a Service (AIaaS) Architecture. Hence, we propose and evaluate a general-purpose image classification system for edge devices that uses an AI Model Store for edge intelligence empowerment. We conducted a case study on precision agriculture to functionally assess cognitive service delivery performance, including prediction time, memory, and CPU usage, and found a suitable model embodiment on edge devices compared with HPC.

Graph Convolutional Networks (GCN) have become a popular means of performing link prediction due to the high accuracy offered by them. However, scaling such link prediction into large graphs of billions of vertices and edges with rich types of attributes is a significant issue to be addressed due to the storage and computation limitations of the machines. In this paper we present a scalable link prediction approach which conducts GCN training and link prediction on top of a distributed graph database server called JasmineGraph. We partition graph data and persist them in multiple workers. We implement parallel graph node embedding generation using GraphSAGE algorithm in multiple workers. Our approach avoids facing performance bottlenecks in GCN training using an intelligent scheduling algorithm. We show our approach scales well with an increasing number of partitions (2,4,8, and 16) using four real world data sets called Twitter, Amazon, Reddit, and DBLP-V11. JasmineGraph was able to train a GCN from the largest dataset DBLP-V11 (> 9.3GB) in 11 hours and 40 minutes time using 16 workers on a single server while the original GraphSAGE implementation could not process it at all. the original GraphSAGE implementation processed the second largest dataset Reddit in 238 minutes while JasmineGraph took only 100 minutes on the same hardware with 16 workers leading to 2.4 times improved performance.

Peer-to-peer (P2P) networking came from a family of technologies and techniques for organizing distributed applications that takes advantage of the resources available at the Internet edges. In this paper, we propose an innovative P2P system architecture, called CBRBrain, to implement the content based routing (CBR) service over the backbone routers instead of at the terminal hosts. Hence CBRBrain avoids some drawbacks in previous P2P systems and significantly improves the efficiency and security. Data locating process is easily implemented on CBRBrain by associating a hashed key with each data item and storing the (key, address) pair in routers. the cost for topology update is neglectful since the routers is almost static in the Internet and is not affected by the frequent joining and leaving of hosts at all. the traffic generated by CBRBrain system over the Internet is also expected to be significantly smaller as compared with the other P2P systems. the logical topology of CBRBrain backbone can be any self-routing structure to enable the content based routing service. In the paper, we recommend to construct the underlying logical topology based on the pseudo-balanced de Bruijn graph, since it has many nice properties such as bounded degrees, low diameters and fault tolerance. As an illustration, we describe the mechanism of P2P file sharing application under CBRBrain architecture. Our work is a first step in building an intelligent backbone of the next generation Internet and facilitates the emergence of various intelligent applications over the Internet besides P2P file sharing

Cloud is very effective technology, which works over the Internet provides services such as servers, storage, networking, workstations, virtual environment etc. this technology supports the distributed environment with different servers to complete the tasks. On demand of these services, the way to balance the heavy load and allow scheduling the task plays vital role. To attain enormous performance in virtual environment, many algorithms to handle those are already developed. We can implement virtualization on operating systems to balance the work load and attain better overall performance. Based on the availability of resources, we can avail more than one container to fasten the execution completion. Incoming tasks should be schedule to all available servers in equal manner based on resource availability is called load balancing. Among multiple containers, the incoming requests are assigned to available one is called task scheduling. In this paper, Improved Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) is implemented for load balancing and SJF is implemented for task scheduling, through which we can obtain maximum throughput with minimal makespan.
