Artificial Intelligence (AI) has changed different applications and markets, making them even more engaging and user-centered in Smart Cities, Smart Farms, and e-health. One such sector that has benefited from these capabilities is precision agriculture, which has seen increased productivity and more efficient and intelligent management through AI and cloud computing. By bringing computing resources closer to clients, edge devices are able to embed AI solutions near the client, reducing the time it takes to transfer data to High-Performance computing (HPC) centers. the latest approaches explore lightweight or distributed Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) methods for training and prediction tasks in edge devices using medical, satellite, or precision agriculture images. In this paper, we hypothesized that prediction tasks in precision agriculture can be more easily and seamlessly assigned to edge devices as long as pre-trained AI models are embedded in these devices through Artificial Intelligence as a Service (AIaaS) Architecture. Hence, we propose and evaluate a general-purpose image classification system for edge devices that uses an AI Model Store for edge intelligence empowerment. We conducted a case study on precision agriculture to functionally assess cognitive service delivery performance, including prediction time, memory, and CPU usage, and found a suitable model embodiment on edge devices compared with HPC.

Cloud is very effective technology, which works over the Internet provides services such as servers, storage, networking, workstations, virtual environment etc. this technology supports the distributed environment with different servers to complete the tasks. On demand of these services, the way to balance the heavy load and allow scheduling the task plays vital role. To attain enormous performance in virtual environment, many algorithms to handle those are already developed. We can implement virtualization on operating systems to balance the work load and attain better overall performance. Based on the availability of resources, we can avail more than one container to fasten the execution completion. Incoming tasks should be schedule to all available servers in equal manner based on resource availability is called load balancing. Among multiple containers, the incoming requests are assigned to available one is called task scheduling. In this paper, Improved Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) is implemented for load balancing and SJF is implemented for task scheduling, through which we can obtain maximum throughput with minimal makespan.

Cloud computing is expanding to distributed edge computing(or known as fog computing). Connecting edge and cloud open great potential for real-time and mobility support workflow applications. However, scheduling workflow on a hybrid edge-cloud environment is an NP-hard problem. this paper proposes the Geo-Aware Multi-Agents-System-Based Workflow Allocation Approach(GMAS). Leveraging a novel geo-aware negotiation mechanism, GMAS addresses resource location caused transmission delays, which are the primary sources of workflow bottlenecks. In Multi-Agents-System(MAS), this paper proposes a geo-aware cost model and a dynamic workflow re-structuring strategy that decrease the impact of resource locations on workflow cost. Finally, this paper evaluates GMAS on Cloudsim, and the result shows that GMAS decreases the workflow makespan and traffic overheads.

Current trends, such as an increase in the number of devices connected to the Internet, an exponential increase in the volume of information, the development of network and cloud technologies, are changing all areas of activity. the global increase in network traffic dictates the need for business to configure large-scale computing systems and networks. To introduce new digital services in various fields, innovative approaches to building computing infrastructures meant for the processing, transmission and storage of large data arrays are needed. the aim of this work is to develop a software component for building a digital cloud platform for distributed data storage in higher education. Current work proposes an architecture and software tools for distributed processing and storage of user data on a digital cloud platform of a higher educational institution. the main class diagrams of the developed cloud platform and the principles of interaction of its main components are described in detail. the functioning process and the features of building a network infrastructure of the developed digital cloud platform for distributed data storage are considered. the developed digital cloud platform implements the capabilities of immediate connection and deployment of new digital services through the use of a wide range of software components and open APIs.

Due to the slowdown of Moore's Law, systems designers have begun integrating non-cache-coherent heterogeneous computing elements in order to continue scaling performance. Programming such systems has traditionally been difficult - developers were forced to use programming models that exposed multiple memory regions, requiring developers to manually maintain memory consistency. Previous works proposed distributed shared memory (DSM) as a way to achieve high programmability in such systems. However, past DSM systems were plagued by low-bandwidth networking and utilized complex memory consistency protocols, which limited their adoption. Recently, new networking technologies have begun to change the assumptions about which components are bottlenecks in the system. Additionally, many popular shared-memory programming models utilize memory consistency semantics similar to those proposed for DSM, leading to widespread adoption in mainstream programming. In this work, we argue that it is time to revive DSM as a means for achieving good programmability and performance on non-cache-coherent systems. We explore optimizing an existing DSM protocol by relaxing memory consistency semantics and exposing new cross-node barrier primitives. We integrate the new mechanisms into an existing OpenMP runtime, allowing developers to leverage cross-node execution without changing a single line of code. When evaluated on an x86 server connected to an ARMv8 server via InfiniBand, the DSM optimizations achieve an average of 11% (up to 33%) improvement versus the baseline DSM implementation.

In mobile crowd sensing (MCS) network, the sensing users collect and upload data according to sensing tasks, the server completes the aggregation analysis of user data, and submit to the sensing platform. In these processing, there are many challenges in trust and privacy problem, especially for sensitive data aggregation with spatial information. To address these problems, a spatial ciphertext aggregation computing scheme for MCS privacy propection is proposed, which is based on paillier encryption and homomorphism calculation. Meanwhile, the security enhance inverse distance weighted aggregation computation protocol is implemented to solve the distributed user anonymity and ciphertext computing problem in the spatial domain. In addition, the security analysis and efficiency analysis of the proposed scheme is provided, the analysis and simulation results shows that this scheme has lower communication cost. © 2020 IEEE.

We study the distributed message-passing model in which a communication network is represented by a graph G = (V, E). Usually, the measure of complexity that is considered in this model is the worst-case complexity, which is the largest number of rounds performed by a vertex v is an element of V. While often this is a reasonable measure, in some occasions it does not express sufficiently well the actual performance of the algorithm. For example, an execution in which one processor performs r rounds, and all the rest perform significantly less rounds than r, has the same running time as an execution in which all processors perform the same number of rounds r. On the other hand, the latter execution is less efficient in several respects, such as energy efficiency, task execution efficiency, local-neighborhood efficiency and simulation efficiency. Consequently, a more appropriate measure is required in these cases. Recently, the vertex-averaged complexity was proposed by [13]. In this measure, the running time is the worst-case average of rounds over the number of vertices. Feuilloley [13] showed that leader-election admits an algorithm with significantly better vertex-averaged complexity than worst-case complexity. On the other hand, for O(1)-coloring of rings, the worst-case and vertex-averaged complexities are the same. this complexity is theta(log* n) [13]. It remained open whether the vertex-averaged complexity of symmetry-breaking in general graphs can be better than the worst-case complexity. In this paper we devise symmetry-breaking algorithms with significantly improved vertex-averaged complexity for both general graphs, as well as specific graph families. Some algorithms of ours have significantly better vertex-averaged complexity than the best-possible worst case complexity. To deal with increasingly demanding services and the rapid growth in number of devices and traffic, 5G and beyond mobile networks need to provide extreme capacity and peak data rates at very low latencies. Consequently, applications and services need to move closer to the users into so-called edge data centers. At the same time, there is a trend to virtualize core and radio access network functionalities and bring them to edge data centers as well. However, as is known from conventional data centers, legacy transport protocols such as TCP are vastly suboptimal in such a setting. In this work, we present pDCell, a transport design for mobile edge computing architectures that extends data center transport approaches to the mobile network domain. Specifically, pDCell ensures that data traffic from application servers arrives at virtual radio functions (i.e., C-RAN Central Units) timely to (i) minimize queuing delays and (ii) to maximize cellular network utilization. We show that pDCell significantly improves flow completion times compared to conventional transport protocols like TCP and data center transport solutions, and is thus an essential component for future mobile networks.

With the rapid development of the network, a huge amount of data will be generated. Existing technologies usually use cloud computing to process data. However, when all the data of users need to be transferred to the cloud for processing, it will cause long transmission delay due to the distance between users and cloud computing data center. Fog computing connects network edge devices downward and cloud data center upward, which greatly shortens the transmission distance of user data. Fog computing is an effective way to solve the problems of high delay, bandwidth bottleneck and security. In this paper, we have developed an optimization method, which establish an optimization problem with minimum average task delay as optimization objective and various system resources. By variable substitution, the nonconvex optimization problem is equivalent to a new optimization problem whose objective is nonconvex and all constraints are convex. In order to solve the global optimal solution of the nonconvex optimization problem, a new lower bound is designed by relaxing the objective to a lower bound quadratic function. We have evaluated our system by simulation test. the results verify the effectiveness of the optimization method. © 2020 IEEE.
