Although Pre-trained Language Model (PLM) ChatGPT as a Question-Answering System (QAS) is so successful, it is still necessary to study further the QASs based on PLMs. In this paper, we survey state-of-the-art systems of this kind, identify the issues that current researchers are concerned about, explore various PLM-based methods for addressing them, and compare their pros and cons. We also discuss the datasets used for fine-tuning the corresponding PLMs and evaluating these PLM-based methods. Moreover, we summarise the criteria for evaluating these methods and compare their performance against these criteria. Finally, based on our analysis of the state-of-the-art PLM-based methods for QA, we identify some challenges for future research. © IFIP international Federation for information Processing 2024.

Portfolio optimization that allows the borrowed money from a loan to be invested in risk assets is formulated as a data-driven optimization problem called POL_P. then, in order to reflect investor preferences called 'values' in the solution, or the portfolio, prospect theory is used to extend POL_P to another optimization problem called POL_ V. POL_P maximizes the profit of the portfolio, while POL_ V maximizes the value of the portfolio. An evolutionary algorithm with a novel constraint-handling technique is proposed for solving POL_P and POL_ V. Finally, the solutions to POL_P and POL_ V are compared and discussed through experiments using historical asset data. © 2024 IEEE.

Event-Related Potential (ERP) detection and enhancement remain significant challenges in EEG signal processing due to the complex and multidimensional nature of ERP signals. this paper addresses these challenges by proposing a novel framework that combines low-rank tensor representation with heuristic feature transfer learning for efficient ERP processing. By leveraging tensor decomposition, we capture intricate multidimensional patterns in ERP data, facilitating the extraction of informative features. these features greatly reduce processing time, making the method particularly suitable for online Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) applications. We also present a feature transfer learning mechanism utilizing tensor decomposition, which facilitates the efficient adaptation of features trained on multiple subjects to new subjects, requiring only a small amount of calibration data. this approach leverages shared classification structures across subjects, allowing for rapid deployment and minimizing the need for extensive retraining. Our results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves reasonable ERP detection accuracy while drastically reducing computational overhead, presenting a robust solution for real-time BCI systems. © 2025 IEEE.

Astract- this paper presents a new energy-based continuous time series probability model that has stochastic process in its latent dynamics. Because the model assuming its output is used for connecting a vector space such as embedding space and latent dynamics, one of the possible application of the present study is to predict sequence of segments such as in the human motion behavior recognition. the present model gives joint distribution of all variable, therefore, it has the property to generate learned sequence without conditioning any values including initial state. this property overcomes existing problem in initial value condition for frequently applied time series model such as recurrent neural network. Furthermore, energy-based continuous formulation gives us consistent method for both learning and estimating the state by the gradient descent and its derivative methods. Such consistent method is not proposed in existing study. In this paper, the model formulation, gradient estimator, and its learning method is shown. Experiments on synthetic data is given, and the validity of the proposed model and method discussed. © 2024 IEEE.

We have developed a writing skill enhancement sys-tem through dialogue for children with developmental disorders and investigated the impact of the presence or absence of a companion robot and differences in input methods. Some children with developmental disorders struggle with sentence writing skill. Although previous research has discovered the effectiveness of a robot intervention in social skill training for children with developmental disorders, few studies have conducted writing skill training for them and demonstrated its effectiveness. In this study, we aim to investigate four types of writing skill enhancement systems through dialogue with presence/absence of a companion robot and input methods (speech recognition/typing) for the effectiveness of improving the writing skills of children with developmental disorders. the dialogue system uses Chat-GPT, ChatAPIs, to generate responses. this paper investigated the four developed writing skill enhancement systems targeted at university students as a preliminary experiment for testing with children with developmental disorders. Experimental results showed a tendency to elicit a large number of words from the students through the interaction with the system using speech recognition and a companion robot. In addition, there was no consistent trend between the survey results and the system that was found to be most suitable, indicating the possibility of not being able to select an effective system based only on survey results. © 2024 IEEE.

Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) is an obstetric and gynecological disease, resulting in low fetal weight at gestational age. It causes fetal growth delay during gestation and increases the risk of prenatal and postnatal health problems. Recently, some studies have reported that fetal growth is related to placental oxygenation that can be visualized using BOLD MRI. the BOLD MRI image analysis using machine learning requires the placental region mask, but its manual annotation requires a heavy burden on experts. In this paper, we apply image registration in 2D+t images to reduce the annotation workload from 2D+t times to one time, and extract statistical image features in the auto-annotated placental regions to validate the image features related to the clinical data of FGR and non-FGR patients. the experiment on BOLD MRI of 8 FGR and 15 non-FGR patients showed that the proposed method recognized the placental region in dice coefficient of 0.779. Experiments using the extracted feature analysis found the correlation to the clinical data in placental weight and fetal birth weight. From these results, the proposed method is expected to be used for the evaluation of placental oxygenation and FGR diagnosis. © 2024 IEEE.

the system is based on the improvement and optimization of the existing workflow of the cinema, which has been found to have a large number of mechanical and time-consuming tasks. In line with the current trend of "electronic information", the system firstly introduces text recognition technology, which enables the rapid conversion of paper and electronic information. Secondly, the data visualization technology helps the cinema to have a better understanding of the recent sales situation. Compared to the previous system, this system avoids the boring and tedious mechanical manual entry work and is more in line with modern information management, which can effectively increase the efficiency and promote the long-term development of the cinema.

With the expansion of e-commerce platforms, online reviews have become increasingly important. Users often decide on purchases based on reviews and ratings. this study notes that reviews with identical ratings can differ in emotional content and hypothesizes that overall satisfaction can be inferred from these emotions. the aim is to develop a system to quantify satisfaction based on review content, especially when ratings are absent. this approach addresses situations where reviews lack ratings or users struggle to rate products despite providing feedback. We crawled product reviews from Coupang and performed sentiment analysis using a BERT model tailored for Korean. the sentiment analysis results were clustered using six different algorithms, and the outcomes were evaluated. the study explored the best methodology among 30 combinations of clustering algorithms and hyper-parameters. For evaluation, 'accuracy' and 'mean absolute error' were used as external metrics to compare with actual ratings, while the 'silhouette coefficient' was used as an internal metric to assess cluster clarity. Agglomerative Clustering showed the highest performance in external metrics but lower internal metric performance. Spectral Clustering demonstrated well-balanced and excellent performance across all metrics. © 2024 IEEE.

For a class of second-order nonlinear leader-following multi-agent systems with actuator faults and integral quadratic constraints (IQCs) of followers, a fully distributed adaptive consensus control algorithm based on improved PID sliding mode is designed. the algorithm only requires local topology information but no global information. According to Lyapunov stability theory, it is demonstrated that multi-agent systems can converge to the vicinity near equilibrium points within a finite time. Finally, the feasibility of the control algorithm proposed in this paper is verified by numerical simulation of multi-agent systems. © 2023 IEEE.

the Proteus effect is a psychological and physical change caused by the perception of an avatar as a substitute for oneself in a VR space. In our previous study, we showed that not only VR space but also an avatar projected on a two-dimensional display reduced subjective fatigue during squatting exercise. In this paper, we investigate whether physical fatigue during squatting exercise changes in addition to subjective fatigue by measuring surface EMG. In addition, we explore the influence on the Proteus effect when the subject selects an avatar that is 'close to the ideal avatar' for himselflherself. the avatar conditions were 'muscular,' 'non-muscular,' and 'no avatar (own appearance),' and we prepared and compared a group of subjects who selected the ideal body shape and a group of subjects who did not select the ideal body shape. Our findings showed that, in the group that did not select the avatar condition, the subjective fatigue level was significantly lower in the muscular avatar condition than in the other conditions, as in the previous study. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in physical fatigue between the two groups. this suggests that the use of muscular avatar, instead of selecting the ideal avatar, results in less subjective fatigue and is as effective as other training. © 2024 IEEE.
