Affective computing (AfC) is a continuously growing multidisciplinary field, spanning areas from artificial intelligence, throughout engineering, psychology, education, cognitive science, to sociology. therefore, many studies have been devoted to the aim of addressing numerous issues, regarding different facets of AfC solutions. However, there is a lack of classification of the AfC systems. this study aims to fill this gap by reviewing and evaluating the state-of-the-art studies in a qualitative manner. In this line of thinking, we put forward a threefold classification that breaks down to desktop and mobile AfC systems, and AfC machines. Moreover, we identified four types of AfC systems, based on the features extracted. In our opinion, the results of this study can serve as a guide for future affect-related research and design, on the one hand, and provide a better understanding on the role of emotions and affect in human-computer interaction, on the other hand. © 2022 the Authors. Sports and international tournaments have gained world attention in the past decade. Enhancing sports activities and promoting sports to participate in international events competitions and tournaments play a substantial role in the development and advancement of nations around the globe. In this paper we applied different deep learning models for predicting athletes' performance in tournaments to help them improve their results. We propose a deep learning selection algorithm to evaluate the effectiveness of the athletes' current training by predicting their race results upon completing each additional training which potentially improves their performance. We gathered public training data for athletes who participated in the 2017 Boston Marathon within a five-month window prior to the race. Deep learning models were applied and evaluated to predict marathon finishing times. these include Recurrent Neural Networks (RNN) Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Units (GRU). Results show that Deep Learning models give improved race time prediction accuracy over the baseline machine learning model such as standard Linear Regression (LR). © 2020 ACM.

Motivation: Despite advances in high-throughput methods for discovering protein-protein interactions, the interaction networks of even well-studied model organisms are sketchy at best, highlighting the continued need for computational methods to help direct experimentalists in the search for novel interactions. Results: We present a kernel method for predicting protein-protein interactions using a combination of data sources, including protein sequences, Gene Ontology annotations, local properties of the network, and homologous interactions in other species. Whereas protein kernels proposed in the literature provide a similarity between single proteins, prediction of interactions requires a kernel between pairs of proteins. We propose a pairwise kernel that converts a kernel between single proteins into a kernel between pairs of proteins, and we illustrate the kernel's effectiveness in conjunction with a support vector machine classifier. Furthermore, we obtain improved performance by combining several sequence-based kernels based on k-mer frequency, motif and domain content and by further augmenting the pairwise sequence kernel with features that are based on other sources of data. We apply our method to predict physical interactions in yeast using data from the BIND database. At a false positive rate of 1% the classifier retrieves close to 80% of a set of trusted interactions. We thus demonstrate the ability of our method to make accurate predictions despite the sizeable fraction of false positives that are known to exist in interaction databases. © 2005 the Author.

the Fourth Industrial Revolution is the paradigm that realizes high-quality intelligent real-time services by combining super intelligent computing technologies associated with super connectable information and communication technologies for various industries. However, the implementation of real-time IoT services satisfying these needs is not possible with just applying existing Cloud technology. So, in this paper, we propose a network framework based on Cloud and Fog computing for the implementation of super connectivity network in IIoT systems for smart factory automation. Also in order to guarantee the confidentiality and integrity of the data to be processed between Fog and Cloud, an efficient security mechanism is needed to be designed and applied. the contribution of this research is also to provide efficient security mechanisms for the proposed service architecture. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Recently, According as digital technology with knowledge base society develops, illegal copy by user's vulnerability of copyright authentication becomes frequent. therefore, it need research about user's copyright authentication method. In this paper, a watermark inserting adaptive method according to the sensitivity of human visual system (HVS) in DCT transform domain is proposed. Also, we proposed watermark techniques using adaptive voice information(VI). It effects that get in original image than method to use conventional image is less and shows robust watermark restoration ability form outside attack. Performance analysis is achieved about still image and restoration of watermark information using OFDM/QPSK still image transmission system in wireless channel environment. Analysis result, VI watermark performance that influence in original image is very small. And it could know that show high restoration performance. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

We describe a set of ten collaborative systems projects developed at NASA Ames Research Center over the past ten years. Our goal is to design new information technologies and collaboration tools that facilitate the process by which NASA engineers, scientists, and mission personnel collaborate in their unique work settings. We employ information management, artificial intelligence, and participatory design practices to build systems that are highly usable, augment human cognition, and support distributed NASA teams. NASA settings and applications serve as valuable testbeds for studying collaboration and developing new collaborative technologies. © 2011 IEEE.

this paper presents the first mediated certificateless public key encryption and signature schemes. We also extend our schemes into hierarchical schemes. Our schemes does not suffer from the key escrow property that seems to be inherent in the mediated identity-based schemes. Key escrow is not always a good property for all applications because the exposure of a master key enable all the users' private keys to be leaked. Our mediated certificateless public key encryption and hierarchical schemes also support role based access control (RBAC) without the key escrow to manage the access to resources of a system. We finally describe security of our schemes and compare our schemes with the mediated identity based schemes from efficiency points of view. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

One of the problems identified in the development of ontology is the difficulty in maintaining ontology that often faces on issues of changes in knowledge or perception about things within the community of practice. When new information is added, consistency needs to be maintained to ensure it does not cause inconsistency within existing concepts in ontology. this paper discusses the feasibility of using the concept of belief revision as a basis for ontology revision. It is an effort to the use of expansion, revision and contraction operators of belief revision to revise ontology. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2004.

the focus of this paper is to determine how the mechanisms of each algorithm contribute to search performance. swarm-based algorithms are composed of several mechanisms. this paper regards these independent mechanisms as modules. the modules constituting each algorithm are classified into three categories: (1) the common module: a collection of mechanisms that all swarm-based algorithms have in common;(2) the main module: the unique mechanisms of each algorithm that updates the solution by interacting with other solutions;and (3) the sub module: the unique mechanisms of each algorithm that do not directly improve the quality of the solution. Testing the algorithms combined into these modules reveals the contribution of each module to performance. the experiments are conducted for the three algorithms PSO, ABC, and CS to test the usefulness of this concept. the results of these experiments revealed the following implications: (a) the main module of ABC alone can have good performance;(b) the main module of CS does not perform well as a stand-alone;(c) the combination algorithm with the main module of PSO and the sub module of ABC can improve applicability. © 2022 the Authors. Collaborative filtering-based recommenders operate on the assumption that similar users share similar tastes;however, due to data sparsity of the input ratings matrix, traditional collaborative filtering methods suffer from low accuracy because of the difficulty in finding similar users and the lack of knowledge about the preference of new users. this paper proposes a recommender system based on interest and trust to provide an enhanced recommendations quality. the proposed method incorporates trust derived from both explicit and implicit feedback data to solve the problem of data sparsity. New users can highly benefit from aggregated trust and interest in the form of reputation and popularity of a user as a recommender. the performance is evaluated using two datasets of different sparsity levels, viz. Jester dataset and MovieLens dataset, and are compared with traditional collaborative filtering-based approaches for generating recommendations. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
