Universities, like any other location, prioritize safety and security. Various security measures, including video-based surveillance systems, have been implemented to achieve this. However, these systems have limitations that can be addressed by augmenting video-based surveillance with acoustic-based systems. this study focuses on collating a dataset suitable for low-cost implementation and developing an acoustic-based classifier that can detect abnormal events in a university setting using an MFCC-SVM model. the recorded and downloaded audio clips were normalized and superimposed to create the dataset. the model was developed using librosa, and sci-kit learn Python libraries. After setting up the device's hardware components, the model was integrated into the Raspberry Pi. Models with 8 to 13 MFCCs were developed, and the models with 12 and 13 MFCCs achieved the highest accuracy of 97.12%. the classifier's performance was tested with different SNRs, and the model achieved an average accuracy of 99.69%. It was found that the polynomial kernel was the best option for this project. the finished prototype had computational costs of 115.32 ms for preprocessing, 14.87 ms for prediction time, and 228.93 MB for memory usage. Performance evaluation of the device in three different locations at Mindanao State University - General Santos showed accuracy scores of 98.33%, 97.67%, and 91.67%. the acoustic-based classifier shows a promising result in accurately detecting and classifying abnormal events in a university setting, and its integration into a device demonstrates the potential for practical applications. © 2023 IEEE.

To ensure both quality and efficiency of the shore power operation and maintenance system, the value of big data of shore power operation and maintenance can be continuously exploited by the digital transformation operation with the state of art large language model technology. this paper discusses the two main tasks in shore power management decision, namely the construction of shore power operation and maintenance knowledge base and the in-depth mining of shore power operation. It analyzes the technical features and applications of the typical models of large model technology. Finally, it discusses the prospect of large model application in the power industry shore power management decision application and proposes a management framework for large model application. © 2024 IEEE.

In the multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) research area, well-designed algorithms strive to achieve the final population or solution set that satisfies both convergence and diversity. To achieve this goal, powerful algorithms aim to ensure a balance between depth and breadth search in the search progress. However, maintaining an equilibrium between the exploratory and exploitative ability of the evolutionary process is a particularly challenging issue in MOEAs. Our approach involves assessing the search process's trajectory by analyzing how convergence and diversity change over time. based on this evaluation, seek techniques to adjust the evolution to balance convergence and diversity. By doing so, we enhance the exploration and exploitation capabilities of the evolutionary process. this research applies the approach above to improve the balance between the exploration and the exploitation of decomposition-based MOEAs. We combined variation correlation information of some convergence and diversity measures in the evolutionary process with a boundary limit adjustment method when selecting the neighborhood of subproblems. Experiments were performed on two typical benchmark sets (ZDTs and UFs) with two famous quality evaluation metrics (GD and IGD). the results showed that our proposed approach enhances the algorithm's efficiency in maintaining a balanced ability to explore and exploit the population. © 2023 IEEE.

this paper aims in a brief literature review of three main methods of formal modeling applied in Industry 4.0 research, namely simulation, numerical and analytical ones. Methodology and assumptions based on the literature study implement quantitative tools and graph mapping. Selected results focus on quantity of publications of different types, citations and various researchers' productivity. these results aim to determine which method of modeling may be of particular interest for the future research. © 2020 the Authors. Addressing the challenges posed by the insufficient computational power of low-spec devices to achieve the inference efficiency of prevailing deep learning models, alongside the variability in type and shape within industrial metal sheet datasets, while also catering to the demand for high-precision detection, this paper proposes a novel single-stage detection architecture termed MTRNet. In this paper, we introduce three key enhancements: Firstly, to reduce the number of parameters, we propose a novel Partial Depth Convolution (PDC) structure. By minimizing redundant computations, we aim to enhance the efficiency of spatial feature extraction. Secondly, we propose a Convolution Transformer (CTR) structure that replaces the self-attention module with a convolutional module. this modification addresses the computational inefficiency inherent in the self-attention mechanism of existing Visual Transformers (ViT). Finally, we introduce a novel Attention Convolution Transformer (ACTR) structure to enhance the extraction of global and local feature information. this architecture seamlessly integrates the strengths of both attention and convolution mechanisms, working synergistically to improve performance. Our proposed MTRNet network demonstrates superior detection performance compared to existing industrial standards, achieving a detection accuracy of 81.5% on the NEU-DET dataset. © 2024 knowledge systems Institute Graduate School. Although progress is being made on automation technology for the production field, some equipment still requires a human operator with experience and skills to judge the conditions. these operators have the professional skill needed to work efficiently. However, the social issues of a decreasing and aging population create difficulties in transferring profess skills in a held where human skill is needed for the operation of some equipment. In this paper, operators and pieces of equipment that require human skill are described as controllers and systems in the control engineering field, respectively. the controller representing a human consists of a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller and cerebellar model articulation controllers (CMACs), which are used to tuna the PID parameters. the CMAC is a mathematical model based on a cerebellar information processing mechanishm that uses a mapping function. the CMACs learn the human skill using data that include the system output and control signal. To evaluate the skill, the data of professionals and beginners are compared as the trajectories and rates of change of the PID parameters. As an application example, an evaluation of the human skills needed for an excavator swing operation will be performed in this paper. this paper presents a method of visualizing data that contains temporal information, such as a human's behavior and the time at which it occurs. A feature of the data is that each event may have one or more time-stamps. By analyzing this kind of data, we are able to find some behavioral patterns and obtain knowledge applicable to many fields, such as marketing research and security. We develop ChronoView, a visualization technique to support the analysis of data with temporal information. ChronoView represents an event with a set of time-stamps as a position inside a circle, similar to the dial of an analog clock. By representing each event as a position on a two-dimensional plane, we can simultaneously visualize many events and easily compare their occurrence patterns. We implement a tool based on ChronoView, which is enriched with additional functions and overcomes the drawbacks of the original system. A use case involving tweet data from Twitter illustrates the use and practicality of ChronoView. © 2012 IEEE.

Although DX initiatives have been mandated since the 2010s, the design of digital information systems can be influenced by business and technology aspects and have a significant impact on the attractiveness of services, but there is not enough design science research in this area. In addition, the design of information systems often consists of multiple people with diverse capabilities, and methods that effectively utilize diverse perspectives are needed to design attractive solutions. the authors are conducting research on the application of support systems in engineering (CDSS) to methodologies that support design (conceptual design) in the information systems field. based on the results of applying CDSS to the digital field, this paper defines a new CDSS methodology that incorporates new "storytelling" and "digital business strategy" in the problem understanding phase to derive solutions to human and economic requirements. We will also incorporate World Cafe as a team discussion method into the storytelling and define CDSS for DX application design process. © 2023 the Authors. this paper describes a proposed recommendation system and multi-modal interface. In this study, the system aims to provide a solution to need for people with specific skills by recommending dependable people having both needed knowledge and discussion skills. the user has opportunities to quickly reach effective solutions through discussion with people recommended by this system. A procedure using a multi-agent system uses data obtained through a social network represented as architecture of relations. the recommendation system in this study is implemented in this algorithm, supplemented with additional information to describe the comprehensive level of trust between members of the discussion, ratings which are retrieved from those member's evaluations. For some situations, for example, when the user does not agree with the recommendation and wants to update or alter the recommended data, a function has been implemented with which the user can readily coordinate groups. As a way of providing complex information, the multi-modal interface represents them with a haptic metaphor for easy understanding and quick manipulation. the use of haptic force feedback displays in the virtual space makes it possible for the user to understand more easily than methods using only the visual modality.

Greenhouse systems are considered a part of sustainable agriculture, whose objective is food security and safety while taking into consideration the conservation of resources such as soil and water. To promote sustainable agriculture through greenhouses, it is important to develop an intelligent system that helps stakeholders in decision-making concerning the construction and management of greenhouses. this system must ensure farming activities and monitoring procedures. this work concentrates on the farming activities such as pest control, disease protection, crop cultivation, treatment, etc, and their representation in the system. Ontology is used as a technology to represent the structured information in terms of concepts and the establishment of semantic relations among them. While many existing ontologies focus on agriculture management, the greenhouse domain lack comprehensive coverage, particularly in the operational farming activities that are necessary to ensure the agriculture sustainability. therefore, there is a need to develop a greenhouse ontology-based system that address the stakeholders' inquiries related to greenhouse construction and essential farming activities for greenhouse management. this paper presents a synthesis analysis of the existing ontologies in the domain of agriculture and greenhouses as well as a novel modular ontology that covers the greenhouse farming module. © 2024 the Authors.
