In this paper, the control of an autonomous doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS) with unbalanced loads is studied. the most used index for calculating the imbalance rate is the Voltage Unbalance Factor VUF. To maintain the Voltage Unbalance Factor VUF on the stator side to reasonable values of the order of 1-2 %, an auxiliary three-phase voltage system is integrated on the rotor side of the generator. Its RMS value and phase are fixed in order to compensate the stator voltage unbalance. Experimental results are carried out using a DFIG and a dSpace DS1104 card. these results demonstrate that the proposed strategy can maintain VUF under 0.02 for strict limits of unbalance and, consequently to obtain a balanced system at the output of the machine even when the loads are unbalanced.

this article focuses on the design, simulation and manufacturing of a miniaturized antenna operating in two 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequency bands for WLAN applications. this antenna is made using textile materials placed over an artificial magnetic conductor (AMC). the results of simulation and measurement are in good agreement and show that AMC can isolate the human body. AMC greatly improves the performance of the antenna. the realized gain of the antenna is 6.5 dB and 7.8 dB at 2.45 GHz and 5.2 GHz respectively (an increase of 4 dB compared to an antenna without AMC). the performance of the antenna on the human body is presented.

In this paper, an analytical model of the switched reluctance motor is proposed that considers the nonlinearity of magnetic characteristics. this model is based on the Fourier series decomposition of the inductance expression. then, their coefficients are determined by using a curve fitting of three inductance-current characteristics computed via a two-dimensional finite element method. the accuracy of the proposed model is evinced by comparing the static and dynamic characteristics obtained by the analytical model with the two dimensions finite element method calculated ones.) © 2018 IEEE.

Power quality disturbances become a major issue in modern commercial distribution grids, hence an innovative attempt to diagnose the faults is necessary for optimal management of power distribution grids and associated assets. this paper presents a hybrid approach using Stockwell transform (ST) and multilayer perceptron neural network (MLP-NN) to detect, and classify the faults in a simulated IEEE 13-node test distribution feeder in Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS). In the proposed technique, the three-phase current waveforms are measured from different points in the feeder and then processed using ST to extract useful statistical features. the features are later fed into the MLP-NN system to detect and classify the faults. the approach proved to be highly efficient in terms of accuracy under both noisy and non-noisy measurements. In addition, the proposed approach is independent of pre-fault operating conditions as well as fault resistance and inception angle.

According to the electrical network stability, this study was interested in Micro-Grid (MG) which can be operate in grid-connected mode and standalone mode. the MG is composed by wind generator and battery/Supercapacitor hybrid storage system and is related with RL load. the purpose of this work is to investigate a decentralized control based on Fuzzy Droop Control (FDC) method. the objective of this control is to improve simultaneous the grid frequency and voltage and make them in optimum margins by export on import active and reactive powers exchanged with grid assuring its stability. the robustness of the proposed FDC is validated by its effect on the grid frequency and voltage variations after regulation compared with the performance of conventional droop control. According to the simulation results, it is remarkable that the levels of the voltage and frequency of the grid are well minimized and become in optimum zones.

this paper presents a high-speed topology for phase counter in an All-digital phase-locked loop (ADPLL) architectures. the structure, called Variable Phase Accumulator (VP AC) is a digital block running at the highest frequency in the ADPLL. the high operating speed feature of the architecture is obtained by exploiting the count output in the reference frequency domain while the circuit needs to handle the radio frequency (RF) signal from the oscillator output. the enhanced topology decreases the timing critical path and minimizes the hardware logic in the highest frequency domain to a shift register encoding only four states. Indeed, a simple logic gate is used to slow the count process. the proposed circuit is demonstrated in 90-nm CMOS process., which allows having a power save of about 20 times the power of a conventional counter without penalty in silicon area or frequency running. © 2018 IEEE.

In this paper, a sub-10 ps resolution, high precision and low power consumption Time-to-Digital Converter (TDC) is presented. the proposed TDC is based on the gateable pseudo-delay ring oscillator (GRO) architecture able to reach high linearity and wide input range. the time conversion resolution is equal to half of one inverter's propagation delay, which is improved by the thermometer decoder. the fractional output-code is obtained through a normalization unit, able to quantify phase errors and free calibrate measurements for counter-assisted ADPLL applications. To demonstrate the proposed concept, a 15-bit TDC has been implemented in a standard 90-nm CMOS process with an active core size of 80 μm 345 μm. Using a 1.0 V supply, the topology achieves a resolution of 9.4 ps, and an average power consumption of 6.6 mW. A root-mean-square integral nonlinearity (INL) and differential nonlinearity (DNL) of respectively ±0.6 LSB and ±0.48 LSB is obtained with a relatively simplified calibration. © 2018 IEEE.

the major contribution of frames theory, in particular wavelet frames, is to ensure a perfect and stable signals reconstruction. this paper focuses on the speech reconstruction stability, in distortion sense, of the tight framelet packet transform which is new time-frequency decomposition derived from wavelet frame theory. A comparison with classical wavelet transform has been conducted. the experimental results show that the tight framelet packet transform provides better reconstruction stability than wavelet packet transform.
