the proceedings contain 45 papers. the topics discussed include: improving divide-and-conquer ray-tracing using a parallel approach;segmentation of pigmented melanocytic skin lesions based on learned dictionaries and normalized graph cuts;high-quality reverse tone mapping for a wide range of exposures;interactive object class segmentation for mobile devices;a nested hierarchy of localized scatterplots;improved residual DPCM for HEVC lossless coding;semi-supervised pattern classification using optimum-path forest;evolutionary optimization applied for fine-tuning parameter estimation in optical flow-based environments;helmet detection on motorcyclists using image descriptors and classifiers;improving on-patient medical data visualization in a markerless augmented reality environment by volume clipping;unsupervised hyperspectral band selection based on spectral rhythm analysis;superpixel-based interactive classification of very high resolution images;and extending face identification to open-set face recognition.

In this work we apply reversible integer wavelet transform to lossless compression of computerized tomography projections (sinograms). Lossy image compression methods can achieve high compression ratios, but sinograms should not loose information during compression process to not affect the image reconstruction.

We present a hierarchical method to match regions in image sequences based in graph theory. First, we build a graph representation for each image, the so-called tree of critical lakes, used in the multiscale watershed. In a second step, assignments between regions in subsequent images are accomplished through maximum clique detection in a association graph.

the purpose of this work is to identify pollen grains from its sample images. Pollen grain recognition is used for the classification of the apiaria samples. In this paper we present an image retrieval technique that is being applied to pollen grain identification, based on querying a database of reference neural networks.

Systems of image analysis constitute an important tool in studying wood and plant anatomy laboratory routines. these systems present significant advantages, i.e., speed, precision, and accuracy in relation to usual methods of cell element mensuration and quantification which depend on microscopes.

We present a comparative study between two 3D morphing algorithms for polyhedral objects. A 3D morphing algorithm establishes a smooth transition between the source object and the target object. the two algorithms compared are the one presented by Hong et al. [1] and the one presented by Kent et al. [2]. the main conclusion is that, in general, the latter algorithm delivers morphy sequences that look more natural.
