the signal quality of holographic memory is greatly lowered by the pixel mismatch between the charge-coupled device (CCD) and the reproduced image caused by image distortion. this paper discusses an approach to improve the signal quality by using two step decoding method. By this method, first, distortion correction is done to improve the degree of pixel mismatch to obtain better signal to noise ratio (SNR). then, to eliminate errors such as noise that cannot be removed by distortion correction, soft decision Viterbi decoding using the newly defined reliability is used to correct errors. the effectiveness of this two step decoding method was tested by computer simulation, and its effect to improve SNR and reduce errors was confirmed.

Background. Estimation of skin prick test results in IgE allergy usually depends on subjective measurement of performer. One of usually used method of estimation skin reaction is measuring the longest and midpoint orthogonal diameters of an erythema and a wheal. then an average diameter is computed. the method is not precise for irregular objects. Contours of the irregular wheal are encircled with a pen and transferred to a record sheet. Aim of study. there were elaborated methods of estimation results from skin prick test and methods of picture's archiving in the study. there were proposed own imageprocessing algorithms, which are used to estimate an area of the erythema and wheal. Material and methods. Algorithm and conclusion were proposed using data taken from four patients: two children in age 5 years (tests were applied on the back) and two adults in age 21 and 30 years (tests were applied on the upper arms). Results. Skin reaction results are taken as medical images through the digital camera. images are brought into computer and process in program. Algorithm automatically estimates area of the erythema and the wheal. the area was estimated from H component in HSV color space. Contours of objects were separated using median filtering. the measured field was computed in square millimeters using a calibrating pattern. Conclusion. Elaborated digital image's acquisition system gives possibility of archiving very good qualities images. there were proposed own imageprocessing algorithms, which are used to estimate an area of the erythema and wheal. Algorithm using HSV colour space and H component allows receiving satisfactory results.

In this work, we describe new strategies for scheduling and executing workflow applications on grid resources using the GrADS [Ken Kennedy et al., 2002] infrastructure. Workflow scheduling is based on heuristic scheduling strategies that use application component performance models. the workflow is executed using a novel strategy to bind and launch the application onto heterogeneous resources. We apply these strategies in the context of executing EMAN, a bio-imaging workflow application, on the grid. the results of our experiments show that our strategy of performance model based, in-advance heuristic workflow scheduling results in 1.5 to 2.2 times better makespan than other existing scheduling strategies. this strategy also achieves optimal load balance across the different grid sites for this application.

this work presents an architecture for real-time visualization, which is able to render a set of 3D objects by using the CPU idle time. the objects being rendered are sent to the graphics pipeline as relief impostors. their depth maps are used to apply 3D image-warping operations in order to prolong the life cycle of the synthesized images. While an image is within the graphics pipeline the CPU idle time is used to generate additional necessary images. Withthis method, it is possible to render images with special illumination models and effects that are impossible or unsuitable to be implemented withthe shaders of the available graphics cards.

this article presents a simple hierarchical adaptation of the Marching Cubes algorithm for polygonizing variational implicit surfaces used in modelling and reconstruction applications. the technique relies on placing the normal and boundary constraint points respecting a pseudo-Euclidean distance metrics. this procedure makes it possible to quickly prune the space and minimize the number of costly function evaluations and thus converge rapidly to the surface. Deformable models are a powerful tool in bothcomputergraphics and computer vision. the description and implementation of the deformations have to be simultaneously flexible and powerful, otherwise the technique may not satisfy the requirements of all the distinct applications. In this paper we introduce a new method for deformable model specification: deformable fields. Deformable fields are conceptually simple, lead to an easy implementation, and are suitable for adaptive models. We apply our new technique to describe an adaptive deformable face, and compare three different adaptation strategies. Additionally, we show how our technique is suitable to describe different individuals.

We describe a data-driven motion simulation algorithm based on an affine image-matching equation. Solving such equation via the Green's function approach, we have obtained a pair of filters which, when applied over an input image, allow the generation of virtual sequences that convey a compelling motion impression. In this paper, we present a multi-threaded sort-first distributed rendering system. In order to achieve load balance among the rendering nodes, we propose a new partitioning scheme based on the rendering time of the previous frame. the proposed load-balancing algorithm is very simple to be implemented and works well for both geometry and rasterization-bound models. We also propose a strategy to assign tiles to rendering nodes that effectively uses the available graphics resources, thus improving rendering performance.
