the present work discusses the importance of using different elements to accomplish a better learning of computergraphics related concepts, and how to make this information available in a way accessible for students that is useful as learning support tools. We propose and assess the use of a resource site in order to increase the interaction between the courses in the area.

We present a technique in image segmentation based on a hierarchical analysis of scale-space. the image hierarchy is the tree of critical lakes and provides a set of nested partitions. We analyze the scale-space from fine to coarse levels according to specific attributes.

this paper describes the current state of research and development of a system for the partial automation of quantitative Funduscopy. imageprocessing techniques are used to segment the optic disk and estimate the parameters of the circumference associated with it. the global objective is to facilitate the diagnosis of pathologies like Systemic Arterial Hypertension and Diabetes Mellitus.

In imageprocessing, one of the most efficient techniques for image segmentation is entropy-based thresholding. In this work it was applied a generalized entropy formalism that represents a recent development in statistical mechanics. We propose, for the first time, an imagethresholding method using a nonextensive entropy regarding the presence of nonadditive information content in some image classes. Preliminary results are shown.

this work aims the implementation of the brazilian vehicle plate localization using imageprocessing techniques. In this paper, we present how to find the horizontal position of the plate based on its frequency characteristics in the whole vehicle image. Preliminary results show efficiencies above 96% for images in good illumination conditions.

In this paper we present a new method for painterly rendering of images. Our method extends the image-moment stroke placement algorithm in two ways: we employ a multiscale scheme for computing strokes and we provide a parametrized mechanism for controlling stroke distribution. In addition, we present a specialized image abstraction for the algorithm.

We present methods for synthesizing 3D shape features on subdivision surfaces using multi-scale procedural techniques. Multi-scale synthesis is a powerful approach for creating surfaces with different levels of detail. Our methods can also blend multiple example multi-resolution surfaces, including procedurally defined surfaces as well as captured models. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

the boundary identification represents an interesting and difficult problem in imageprocessing, mainly if two flat zones are separated by a gradual transition. the most common operators work very well for sharp edges, but fail for gradual transitions. In this work, we have done a characterization for gradient by a study of the opening residues. this characterization is useful to identify and classify sharp and gradual transitions between two consecutive flat zones according to a size criterion.

this paper describes a decision support system for military operations based on intelligent agents dedicated to the planning and shaping activities. the system has a 3D visualization toolkit for the modeling of the war virtual scenario, which is represented by a 3D mesh using a height map of the actual battle space. the intelligent agents approach is used to support the commanders' decisions in conformity with a known combat doctrine. Each troop is designed as an agent, where its actions are described as a set of prefixed action-rules.
