In software development processes, requirements prioritization plays a key role. gathering of requirements and their objective prioritization can ensure a sequential and effective development of a software project. With the increasing complexity of software, which is a characteristic of today, problems related to defining requirements also increase. It becomes increasingly challenging to identify the most important and essential requirements in a stream of wishes and recommendations, determining what should be the starting point of development and where the most attention should be focused. the task of requirements prioritization is multi-criterial and poses significant cognitive loads. Most researchers and professionals suggest expert methods for decision-making in such environments, which to some extent help solve the tasks at hand. How-ever, among the known requirements prioritization methods, practically all involve qualitative descriptive analysis based on brainstorming techniques. At the same time, in the modern conditions of digitalization, providing decision support based on a comprehensive presentation of the information model of the subject area and processing through information technologies for quantitative assessment of alternatives is more promising. Another important capability of modern technologies is visualization of decision-making processes. thus, this work explores a comprehensive prioritization method that involves a full presentation of the information picture of the subject area, including in the form of computer ontologies, applying a quantitative AHP method for comparing requirements, and visualized data in graphs for considering alternatives. Additional use of a modified SWOT matrix allows for the disaggregation of requirements into their individual characteristics and consideration of their advantages for problem evaluation. the existence of such tools and the capabilities of information technologies confirm the effectiveness and stabilit

Traditional didactical methods with a strong teacher-centred approach have proved to be inadequate for software engineering education as they do not capture the complexity of the software production process. Our paper demonstrates that software engineering can and should be taught in an authentic learning environment that relies heavily on a student-centred teaching approach. We present our experiences with an example of a practical software engineering course that simulates a real-world software engineering project carried out in distributed teams. this concept has been tried out and improved based on continuous feedback from students and professionals over the past four years. the proposed mixture of different pedagogical concepts (constructivism, experiential and collaborative learning), that also reflect certain agile software development practices, has significantly improved the quality of software engineering education.

the study of deformation processes of soil massifs with free surface under mass and heat transfer is important in the design, construction and operation of buildings. the article presents a mathematical model of the deformation state problem of the soil massif under mass and heat transfer and the present free surface in the three-dimensional case. the basic equations, boundary conditions and conditions of congruence for displacements, strains, stresses, and also additional functions are given. For computer modelling of the set boundary value problem, a software package for the capabilities of the Microsoft Visual Studio 2017 framework for Windows Desktop in the C# programming language was created. It is shown that the presence of a free surface that breaks the area of the investigated soil in the area of water-saturated soil and the area of the soil in its natural state changes the distributions of the displacements of the soil mass in these areas. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2020.

As a result of the necessity of having compilers numerous courses on this topic have been created. the focus of this work will be on the innovation introduced in the subject System software, which deals with the backend part of compilation, i.e., processes related to the translation of the assembly code into binary files. One of the topics covered in this course is related to another facilitation designed for programmers - the concept of macros. Due to the frequent use of this concept in programming, it is very important for students of the course to have a good understanding of this topic, including the operational principles of the algorithm that processes macros. To this end, a new tool has been developed for educational purposes that is intended to demonstrate to students various variants of a macro processor algorithm, which processes macros in the program. this paper will introduce and detail the functionality of this tool, with illustrative demonstrations focusing on the processing of the assembly code for the HYPO machine. An evaluation has been conducted based on the passage rate and average grade. the passage rate has been drastically better in almost every exam period, after adding the macro processor tool, as well as the student average grade. the passage rate for the entire generation has also been massively improved, with the percentage being higher by more than 10 percent. © the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

University heritage includes all the results of the academic, research, and extension activities of the university community, bequeathed in values, knowledge, and modes of action of a higher level education institution. the Universidad de Oriente, the second institution of its kind in Cuba, treasures an extensive collection of its heritage bequeathed by its researchers, teachers, and students;however, inefficiencies are detected that limit the use of heritage assets and documents in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, despite the institution's extensive trajectory, the extensive existing collection and the historical, architectural and heritage values it possesses are unknown. To this end, in this paper we propose and present a cultural heritage management platform that, in addition to disseminating the institution's heritage values, promotes the use of the results of research on the nation's cultural heritage in the training processes in different degree courses, research, and relations with institutions in the cultural sector. theoretical methods, empirical techniques, the extreme programming software development methodology and the use of expert criteria and heuristic evaluation for its validation has been applied to assess its impact. © 2023 IEEE.

Questions and Answers (Q&A) websites maintain a long history of needs, problems, and challenges that software developers face. In contrast to Q&A websites, which are strongly tied to practitioners' needs, there are systematic reviews (SRs), which, according to recent studies, lack a connection with software engineering practice. In this paper, we investigate this claim by assessing to what extent systematic reviews help to solve questions posted on Q&A websites. To achieve this goal, we propose and evaluate a coverage method. We applied this method to a set of more than 600 questions related to agile software development. Results suggest that 12% of the related questions were covered. When considering specific agile methods, the majority of them have coverage below 50% or were not covered at all. We also identified 27 recurrent questions.

If there is suspicion of Lyme disease, a doctor sends a blood sample of the patient to a medical laboratory. the laboratory performs a number of different blood examinations, testing for antibodies against the Lyme disease bacteria. the total number of performed examinations depends on the intermediate results of the blood count. Of course, the number of performed examinations is important since the cost of each examination needs to be covered by the health insurance companies. In order to control and restrict the number of performed examinations, the health insurance companies provide a so called charges regulation document. If some health insurance company disagrees with the charges of a laboratory, it is the job of the public prosecution service to validate the charges according to this document. In this paper we present a case study showing a systematic approach to revealing faulty processes in a medical laboratory. Different files produced by the information system of the respective laboratory are analyzed, consolidated, and stored in a database. An excerpt of this data is translated into an event log, providing a list of all events performed by the information system. this list is further compressed and translated into the language of the information system. Compared to the size of the data and the size of the event log, the size of the language is small. With the help of the regulation document this language can be split in two sets - the set of valid and the set of faulty words. In a next step, we build a colored Petri net model corresponding to the set of valid words in a sense that only the valid words are executable in the Petri net model. In a last step we translate the colored Petri net into a PL/SQL-program. this program can automatically reveal all faulty processes stored in the database. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2015.

Agility is a must, in particular for business applications. Complex systems and processes must be continuously updated in order to meet the ever changing market conditions. Continuous Model Driven engineering is based on our extreme Model-Driven Design (XMDD) framework, which has been designed to continuously involve the customer/application expert throughout the whole systems' life cycle including software maintenance and evolution. Conceptually it is based on the One thing Approach (OTA), which combines the simplicity of the waterfall development paradigm with a maximum of agility. the key to OTA is to view the whole development process simply as a complex hierarchical and interactive decision process, where each stakeholder, including the application expert, is allowed to continuously place his/her decisions in term of constraints. thus semantically, at any time, the state of the development or evolution process can simply be regarded as the current set of constraints, and each development or evolution step can be regarded simply as a transformation of this very constraint set. this approach, conceptually, allows one 1) to monitor globally and at any time the consistency of the development or evolution process simply via constraint checking, and 2) to impose a kind of decision hierarchy by mapping areas of competencies to roles of individuals, in order to identify required actions in case of constraint violation. the essence and power of this approach, which is technically supported by the jABC development and execution framework, will be illustrated along a number of real life application.
