ResNet and, more recently, AlphaFold2 have demonstrated that deep neural networks can now predict a tertiary structure of a given protein amino-acid sequence with high accuracy. this seminal development will allow molecular biology researchers to advance various studies linking sequence, structure, and function. Many studies will undoubtedly focus on the impact of sequence mutations on stability, fold, and function. In this paper, we evaluate the ability of AlphaFold2 to predict accurate tertiary structures of wildtype and mutated sequences of protein molecules. We do so on a benchmark dataset in mutation modeling studies. Our empirical evaluation utilizes global and local structure analyses and yields several interesting observations. It shows, for instance, that AlphaFold2 performs similarly on wildtype and variant sequences. the placement of the main chain of a protein molecule is highly accurate. However, while AlphaFold2 reports similar confidence in its predictions over wildtype and variant sequences, its performance on placements of the side chains suffers in comparison to main-chain predictions. the analysis overall supports the premise that AlphaFold2-predicted structures can be utilized in further downstream tasks, but that further refinement of these structures may be necessary. © 2022, EasyChair. Millimeter-wave (mmWave) technology is considered one of the major technologies for fifth-generation (5G) frameworks to meet the massive thirst for data traffic by guaranteeing enormous transmission capacity in the uplink, downlink, and backhaul links. However, medium access network (MAC) scheduling and admission control with respect to transmission control protocol (TCP) are still complicated in 5G heterogeneous networks. In addition, with the increasing number of users using mmWave communications, network attributes could be changed. In this paper, we design and implement a proportional fair (PF) scheduling algorithm in the MAC layer using network simulator-3 (ns3). this research inspects the downlink resource allocation among multiple users simultaneously in 5G heterogeneous networks. the simulation result depicts that the proposed approach outperforms the existing approach by an overall 14% in terms of SINR and throughput. the investigation through the proposed scheduler might be used to show the capability of 28 GHz frequency for mmWave communication and its commendable for future 5G systems with more complex structures.

Conjoining the management tool called balanced scorecard with the educational concept of student outcomes (SOs), this research developed a balanced scorecard for Electronics Engineering (ECE) that can help aid in managing a sustainable ECE program based on sound educational management principles that are congruent to Washington Accord quality assurance practices. the Delphi technique and the unstructured interview method with a panel of experts were employed in determining and fine-tuning the metrics for each of the major components of the balanced scorecard until a consensus was reached. the survey method, on the other hand, was used in determining the attainment of the Washington Accord SOs of selected ECE higher educational institutions (HEIs) in Metro Manila. At 0.05 level of significance, the relationships of the various perspectives in the balanced scorecard with the Washington Accord SOs were determined using structural equation modelling. the study discovered that a significant difference exists in the level of practice of the selected ECE HEIs in the perspectives of financial, student, and learning and growth, but no significant difference in faculty and in internal school processes. Moreover, the study also revealed that the strongest student outcome was the "Knowledge Based for Engineering" which while the weakest was "communication", having only an evaluation of "Accomplished" instead of "Exemplary". Except in the SO of Design, no significant difference was also found in the evaluation of the HEIs for the attainment of the Washington Accord SOs. In addition, it was also found out that significant relationships exist between perspectives in the balanced scorecard and the Washington Accord SO Evaluation. the paper presented recommendations that have implication in the management of Engineering HEIs which includes considering the structural equation model in establishing the congruence between the electronics engineering balanced scorecard and the attainmen

this study aimed to develop a competency model for software development courses in ITE programs as perceived by the IT industry in the Philippines in the new normal. A review of previous studies revealed existing software engineering competency models being referenced by the IT industry along with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) General Education Curriculum (GEC) being referenced by the academe. However, things drastically changed during this global pandemic which may have affected these current standards. thus, this study aimed to determine the current competency needs in the IT industry in the new normal in relation to the programming courses being offered by the ITE programs in the Philippines; A mixed method three-round Delphi technique was used to solicit a unified expert opinion from the point of view of nine (9) IT industry experts in the Philippines. Twenty-three (23) technical skills and eleven (11) soft skills were extracted from online interviews using thematic analysis. Out of 23 technical skills, nineteen (19) have consensus. the findings produced a competency model for software development courses in the new normal consisting of must-have technical skills, game-changer technical skills, and must-have soft skills. the must-have technical skills include Web Development, Cyber Security, Cloud Computing, Agile Project Management, Mobile Development, and DevOps. the game changer technical skills include Data Science and Data Analytics, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, the Internet of things, and Research and Development. And the must-have soft skills include communication skills, Results-Oriented, and Collaboration skills.

this project aims to aid students, teachers, and even non-teaching staff in terms of managing technological inquiries and maintaining communication to perform academic-related transactions by developing Tissa – a web-based helpdesk support system for tertiary institutions that integrates various time series analysis techniques in forecasting the estimated number of tickets to be filed by the stakeholders based on historical records. Specifically, it explores the effects of developing a dedicated ticket management system that incorporates both analytics and enhanced user experience to the users’ satisfaction, especially in a tertiary school setting. A total of 62 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. these respondents helped in evaluating the system's overall quality based on the ISO/IEC 25010 software quality model. the respondents' evaluation of the system's overall quality received an above-average score which means that the system passed the testing in terms of system requirements. the results gathered also suggest that 95.2% of the respondents agree that the inclusion of data visualization serves as valuable insights in performing strategic business decisions. Additionally, the system's user experience evaluation received the highest mean score of 4.82. the results for exponential smoothing yielded an 88% accuracy, linear regression was 80% accurate, simple moving techniques had an 85% accuracy rate, and 84% for the weighted moving average, which suggest that techniques used in this study can be considered reliable for future references.

Improving the quality of service (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE) for users of cyber-physical systems (CPS) is the key to the widespread promotion and deployment of this technology. Network latency is an important factor affecting users' network experience. Due to the limited processing capacity of a single device node of CPS, the communication relationship between equipment is extremely complicated, and multi-hop device nodes may be passed through in the middle, so designing an efficient routing scheme for CPS is a serious challenge. CPS routing also faces a security crisis. System nodes may send viruses or erroneous results to user equipment, and user equipment may also refuse to pay for routing services to system nodes. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes a secure routing scheme based on blockchain. Blockchain is used to ensure secure transactions between system nodes and user equipment. At the same time, deep reinforcement learning (DRL) technology is used, and two deep neural networks are used to train intelligent agent to achieve low-latency adaptive traffic scheduling. Experimental results show that the proposed autonomous routing technology can reduce the system communication latency by about 31.7%-45.4%.

By early 2020, COVID-19 has caused a global pandemic which led to an enormous number of challenges worldwide in various sectors. the Philippine government has implemented multiple quarantine guidelines and travel restrictions to ensure the people’s health and safety. However, the international Labour Organization projected an initial economic and labor market disruption affecting 11 million workers, or about 25% of the Philippine workforce, due to the pandemic. therefore, the government, thru the concerned agencies continues to encourage employers to implement alternative work plans such as a work-from-home (WFH) operation in compliance with the established regulations in line with existing laws and policies. In line with the telecommuting concept, various research has already been performed, however, some were regarded inconclusive and require further study. Hence, in this study, a Web application was developed along with an embedded fuzzy model to evaluate the telecommuting capability assessment of employees. the proposed web application with embedded fuzzy model is capable of providing capability assessment using the four main input variables which are also relatively characterized for possible telecommuting cost assessment.

the popularization of mobile terminals and extensive coverage of the network have benefited college students a lot in their English learning. they are provided with more choices in learning methods with the vigorous development of online English learning apps. A case in point is their vocabulary Learning. English vocabulary is an essential part or language learning, and college students often face the challenge of memorizing and recalling numerous words. the access to English vocabulary memorization applications (App) like Bai Ci Zhan, Shanbay-Words, MaiMemo and so on has helped students expand their vocabulary. However, there are few studies on the comparative analysis between the learning methods of memorizing words through traditional paper-based wordbooks and apps. this study, therefore, will start from the comparison between these two methods based on the analysis of a questionnaire distributed online to students at NingboTech University, and then explore the effect of word memorization apps on their English learning from the collected data analysis. the research results show that compared with traditional method of memorizing words through paper-based wordbooks, most respondents tend to use apps to promote English learning due to their unique functions and brilliant user experience. Furthermore, apps can enhance their determination and motivate their enthusiasm in English learning. this research also points out some disadvantages of the apps and provides the suggestions to promote the development of such apps. © 2024, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

Recently, spatial modulation (SM) has been integrated into multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) layered division multiplexing (LDM) systems to further improve spectral efficiency. In this paper, we consider an SM-aided MIMO-LDM system with two layers, i.e., the core layer (CL) and the enhanced layer (EL), and propose two complexity-reduced soft demappers based on full/partial Gaussian approximation (FGA/PGA) to alleviate the computation burden of the CL demapping. the principle is to fully or partially approximate the constellation domain symbol of the low power EL signal as Gaussian inputs. By investigating the probability distribution of the equivalent noise, the FGA and PGA based demappers are proposed, respectively. It is observed that, unlike GA-based CL demapping in conventional single-input single-output (SISO) LDM systems, the received equivalent noise vector is spatially correlated due to the inherent nature of the SM signal. Simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the proposed FGA and PGA based demappers. It is shown that negligibly degraded performance compared to the optimal demapper can be obtained with a greatly reduced complexity when the injection level (IL) is high or the code rate is low, and the PGA-based demapper achieves better performance than the FGA-based demapper, especially for the case of low IL and high code rate.

this paper proposes a color image encryption algorithm based on DNA encoding in conjunction with a 1D logistic map and a high-dimensional chaotic map. the XOR function is used to combine low and high-dimensional chaotic maps, resulting in a cipher image. For image encryption, the paper also proposes a system of confusion and diffusion. Confusion and Diffusion apply to high-dimensional chaotic maps. In a low-dimensional logistic map, the keyspace is smaller, and chaotic sequences are used directly from the chaotic map, which has an impact on the encryption process. Recent image encryption focuses primarily on a gray image scale. We present color image encryption that uses non-RGB color spaces like YCbCr, YIQ, HSV, and L*a*b*. the high connection between RGB color spaces red, green, and blue is commonly used in data storage and handling. RGB color spaces merge Luminance and Chroma channels so color analysis becomes more complex so we use non -RGB spaces. Using the logistic sine map or tent map association, different chaotic systems can be found by random number attacks and dictionary attacks. Gives the security analysis of encryption using DNA encoding and chaotic map and explains that it's vulnerable to plaintext-choice attacks we propose a new and more efficient approach and reduce time complexity then- existing approach and become encryption more secure.
