In the last few years, technological development has multiplied. New technologies are affecting almost every industry. One of these which noticed the abrupt change in their ecosystem is the healthcare industry. As this industry has a direct impact on the human lives so adoption of new technology is not so easy. Proper testing and trials are performed before amalgamating any new technology with the healthcare system. Emerging technologies are being employed to deliver better health-related services to patients. Different communication and information collection technologies are used to maintain and access patients' health data to authorized users. But with the employment of technology, health data security and privacy-related issues are increasing. Maintaining trust among multiple entities of the healthcare system is a challenging task. One emerging technology, distributed ledger technology (DLT), is creating some hope for resolving the fears mentioned above of the healthcare ecosystem. Attributes like Security, privacy and authentication can be enhanced by integrating this technology with the healthcare ecosystem. this study examines the role of distributed ledger technology in the healthcare system while highlighting how some aspects of this disruptive technology can completely alter current business practices. To achieve this, the theoretical foundations of numerous research papers published in prestigious scientific journals and several reports from industries are included in this survey. this helps to streamline our analysis and fully capture the constantly expanding blockchain domain. this survey also identifies several research holes and prospective areas for further study using these findings as a starting point. Both academics and practitioners should find great value in these discoveries. this survey presents a comprehensive evaluation of current DLT- supported approaches in the healthcare system. and provides benefits and limitations of the recent work. th

this study aims to detect mental stress in elderly humans using the Artificial neural networks (ANN) classifier. Materials and Methods: A total of 41034 samples are collected from a dataset in kaggle (SWELL dataset). these samples are divided into a training dataset 70% (n = 28724) and test dataset 30% (n = 12310). the G power for samples is calculated from clincalc which contains two different groups, alpha (0.05), power (80%) and enrollment ratio. Results: the ANN algorithm achieved an accuracy of 90.4% and 89.1% whereas Novel Random Forest Algorithm achieved an accuracy of 87.4% and 86.1% with significance value $(\mathrm{p} < 0.05)$ in SWELL and biometrics for stress monitoring datasets respectively. Conclusion: In this study, it is observed that the ANN algorithm performs significantly better than the Random Forest algorithm.

Modern automobiles offer convenient functions by deploying various modular components such as embedded controllers and electric devices. Along with this computerization of automobiles, there has been an increasing concern about the possibility of various security threats through external accesses due to the deployment of external sensors and communication networks to be used in the autonomous driving for example. Development of V2X environment as well as the intelligence of the internal system of a vehicle is becoming another concern, which can cause a direct impact on our lives. In case of a traffic accident, it is required to log up the internal network of the vehicle and analyze the resulted data to find the causes of the accident such as physical defect, driver carelessness or external attack. In this paper, we introduce design and implementation of an emulating internal vehicular network as a testbed that can be used to perform an intuitive analysis on the data set collected from the real vehicular network for different situations and replayed through the testing environment similar to an actual vehicle. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

Prediction of the spread of infectious diseases such as the seasonal Influenza is of utmost importance in the preparation for and mitigation of the severity of their impact. eVision (short for Epidemic Vision) is a machine learning time series forecaster under research and development by Santa Clara University’s EPIC (Ethical, Pragmatic, and Intelligent Computing) and BioInnovation & Design laboratories. Since eVision’s Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural network makes use of Influenza related keywords in Google Trends as prediction features, it stands to reason that further feature selection from trending keywords relating to the flu in social media posts could enhance its prediction. After close examination, the only social media platforms that prove capable of supplying relevant data for time series analysis are the Twitter micro-blogging and Reddit social news aggregation and discussion forum platforms; as other social media platforms are either meant for sharing images and videos, or private multi-cast communication rather than public broadcasting and discourse. However, due to the burstiness of flu related Reddit posts, no useful feature for time series forecasting can be extracted from that platform; and Twitter, which has been examined for Influenza forecasting by numerous other researchers with successful results, poses a number of obstacles such as changes in policy as well as placing features behind expensive paywalls through the disabling of existing free APIs. Regardless however, the results obtained by the addition of Twitter data as another feature in eVision’s LSTM resulted in an almost negligible predictive improvement as delineated in this paper.

High-order modulations are widely used in wireless communications. And the existence of phase noise, especially in mm-wave or thz high-frequency systems, will greatly impair the transmission reliability. Most existing works still use the minimum Euclidean distance (MED) rule for performance analysis, which is actually a mismatched Gaussian receiver in phase noise. this paper thus proposes approximately optimum amplitude-phase-form detection schemes and analyzes the error performance in the presence of both additive Gaussian white noise (AWGN) and residual phase noise (RPN) due to imperfect carrier phase estimation. Based on the matched maximum-likelihood (ML) receiver proposed in our earlier work, the joint amplitude and phase detection criteria in polar coordinates are given thoroughly. then a suboptimal annular-sector (AS) detector is obtained, which corresponds to the separate amplitude and phase detection. this AS detector has low complexity to implement and does not depend on the specific channel information. And the optimal ML decision boundaries are explicitly shown, which tend to be circular as the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) or RPN variance increases. Star-8QAM and Rect-8QAM are used here to illustrate the error performance by both theoretically derivation and detailed simulations. It is shown that the AS detector performs much better than the MED detector for high SNR or strong phase noise. Moreover, Star-8QAM with optimized ring ratio outperforms Rect-8QAM with optimized power ratio for a large range of RPN variances.

Contemporary control processes and methods in multi-scale, cyber-physical systems require precise data collection at various levels, timely transmission, and analysis involving large number of computing and storage elements connected within high-performance permissioned consensus networks. For example, in transport networks, resources tend to form multi-scale dynamical systems with diverse operational requirements, including data exchange policies and consensus protocols. Apart from designing complete topology, chaincodes and consensus logic, effective monitoring of the applications and infrastructure of such complex systems remains a research challenge. In this paper, we discuss important aspects of the data-intensive applications monitoring investigated in the frames of the ADAPT project. We present highlights on the toolsets, architectures and details on possible optimization approaches for monitoring data collection. We introduce a dynamic multi-scale monitoring system architecture with preliminary workflow model. It allows obtaining effective low-latency publish-subscribe matching of the dynamically varying monitoring tasks and executing machines.

As a new computing paradigm, edge-device collaboration is able to reduce the task execution delay for the devices with limited energy. However, deterministic delay guarantee is unavailable due to the random task arrivals and time-varying channel fading. this paper proposes to study the task execution delay of edge-device collaboration from the probabilistic view of point. Specifically, an optimization problem is formulated with objective of minimizing the proportion of tasks that are not served in time. then, a general delay violation probability for stochastic system is derived, based on which, the task execution delay violation probability at local device and that at the edge server are obtained respectively. thereafter, the optimization problem can be transferred into a tractable one where task offloading proportion and task offloading rate can be jointly optimized. the effectiveness of the proposed scheme is finally validated by extensive numerical simulations. © 2021, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

the Wireless Mesh networks (WMNs) are becoming an important networking infrastructure because they have many advantages such as low cost and increased high speed wireless Internet connectivity. In our previous work, we implemented a simulation system considering Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), Simulated Annealing (SA) and Distributed Genetic Algorithm (DGA), called WMN-PSOSA-DGA. In this paper, we present the performance of WMNs using WMN-PSOSA-DGA simulation system considering Linearly Decreasing Vmax Method (LDVM) and Rational Decrement of Vmax Method (RDVM). Simulation results show that a good performance is achieved for RDVM compared with the case of LDVM. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021.

the wireless technology evolved a lot during time, so that, such a technology can assure data transfer rates comparable with wired networks, and this type of communication is protected, security of this being also improved a lot. this way the wireless technology become the optimal solution for implementing monitoring and control systems in the electro-energetic domain. this way the paper presents the general architecture of an integrated system for power supply for consumers without access to the low voltage line and the implementation of the hardware of the distributed wireless system, designed for remote monitoring the energy consumption and undesired events for many consumers. the wireless monitoring system is based on a third-generation SCADA architecture that contains local acquisition and control equipment for each individual consumer, one or more computers (servers) that centralize the monitored information and saves in a database and one or more computers running a client application to monitor the monitored parameters.
