Critical manufacturing processes in smart networked systems such as Cyber-Physical Production systems (CPPSs) typically require guaranteed quality-of-service performances, which is supported by cyber-security management. Currently, most existing vulnerability-assessment techniques mostly rely on only the security department due to limited communication between different working groups. this poses a limitation to the security management of CPPSs, as malicious operations may use new exploits that occur between successive analysis milestones or across departmental managerial boundaries. thus, it is important to study and analyse CPPS networks' security, in terms of vulnerability analysis that accounts for humans in the production process loop, to prevent potential threats to infiltrate through cross-layer gaps and to reduce the magnitude of their impact. We propose a semantic framework that supports the collaboration between different actors in the production process, to improve situation awareness for cyberthreats prevention. Stakeholders with different expertise are contributing to vulnerability assessment, which can be further combined with attack-scenario analysis to provide more practical analysis. In doing so, we show through a case study evaluation how our proposed framework leverages crucial relationships between vulnerabilities, threats and attacks, in order to narrow further the risk-window induced by discoverable vulnerabilities.

Data and object connectivity are the key and the critical component of industry-4.0, Connectivity of software, equipment, data ... are all massive data to be processed. Combined with cybersecurity, they become fundamental elements for creating intelligence in an industrial system that can increase the flexibility of production in addition to allocating resources more efficiently. In order to successfully transition to ecosystem 4.0, the industry must examine the new skills that are required and the need for qualified personnel. the fourth industrial revolution corresponds to the widespread use of sensors and intelligent agents to connect machines, components, processes and operators. this is generally called the digital factory or industry 4.0. It suggests a global system of effective communication between the modules of decision-making. World 4.0 will allow interaction between products, machines and even between machines (M2M). the product will also be able to communicate with machines in the production phase. this is called intelligent production, which will allow the modification and customization of products in their production phase. In this article, we present a communication model based on Modbus and multiband communication using NB-IOT, this communication model allows data to be exchanged between different industrial equipment (PLCs, SCADA systems, etc.) via MODBUS RTU and ASCII, via RS485, or via analog and digital inputs for sensors and actuators. Aiming at the existing problems in power communication network and communication management project, based on the planning forecasting strategy of business priority and the evaluation index system of planning effectiveness, the overall structure of power communication network considering global information fusion is constructed. And the whole process information system platform of power optical transmission network is built. Relying on the platform of communication planning system, the weaknesses of provincial power communication network in China are analyzed, and the provincial and prefectural target network frame of 13th Five-Year Plan in China (2016-2020) communication network is constructed. the technology supports the construction of provincial backbone communication network project and the planning of power wireless private network project. Line loss, as one of the most important economic indicator to evaluate the quality of the power distribution network, the importance of monitoring it is self-evident. A new method is presented to calculate the line loss, which can consider the three-phase unbalance degree. Based on this algorithm, a line loss monitoring system is designed which apply the master-slave machine technology. this paper focus on the synchronous circuit between the master machine and the slave machine. In order to get the three-phase unbalance degree, wireless communication is adopted to compare the standard signal and the actual signal. the software chart about the monitoring algorithm is introduced as well. A performance test is conducted after the system design accomplishing, the test results show that this system can realize the line loss monitoring function very well. (C) 2019 the Authors. Low power wide area networks (LPWAN) are widely used in IoT applications as they offer low power consumption and long-range communication. LoRaWAN and SigFox have taken the top positions in the unlicensed ISM bands, while LTE-M and NB-IoT have emerged within cellular networks. We focus on unlicensed bands operation because of their availability for both private and public use with one's own infrastructure. New technologies have since been developed to overcome limitations of LoRaWAN and SigFox, based on LoRa or other modulation techniques, and are finding their way mainly into the industrial IoT. these include Symphony Link or Ingenu RPMA. To the best of our knowledge, previous works have not been focused on comparing LPWAN technologies in-depth including alternatives to the link and network layers over LoRa other than LoRaWAN. this paper provides a detailed comparative study of these technologies and potential application scenarios. We defend that LoRaWAN is the most suitable for small-scale or public deployments, while Symphony Link provides a robust solution for industrial environments. SigFox is one the most widely deployed networks;and RPMA has the advantage of using the 2.4GHz band, equally regulated in most countries. (C) 2019 the Authors. Recommender systems are widely used in modern online applications, from e-commerce sites over media streaming services to social networks. In academic research, we however often abstract from the specifics of these applications and rely on simplified assumptions such as the availability of past rating data. Furthermore, we mostly focus on predicting to what extent a user will like a certain item, but do not explicitly consider the long-term effects of recommendations on the users' decision-making processes or the expected impact on orgnizations. the 14th ACM conference on Recommender systems hosted two workshops which aim to look beyond our often too simplifying assumptions, the Fourth Workshop on Recommendation in Complex Environments and the Second Workshop on the Impact of Recommender systems. these proceedings describe the specific goals of the workshops and contain the papers that were presented during the online events. © 2020 Copyright for this paper by its authors. 5G networks are expected to consist of multiple radio access technologies with a Software-defined networking (SDN) core, and so simulating these networks will require connecting multiple subnetworks with different technologies. Despite the availability of simulators for various technologies, there is currently no tool that can simulate a complete heterogeneous 5G network. In this work, we develop a novel SDN adapter to enable seamless inter-working between different simulation/emulation tools, such as NS-3, Mininet-WiFi, Omnet++, and OpenAirInterface5G. Using the adapter, we have built a large scale 5G simulator with multiple networking technologies by connecting existing simulators. We show that our adapter solution is easy-to-use, scalable, and can be used to connect arbitrary simulation tools. Using our solution, we show that Mininet-WiFi exhibits unreliable behaviour when connected to other networks. We compare our solution against other alternatives and show that our solution is superior both in terms of performance and cost. Finally, and for the first time, we simulate a large heterogeneous 5G network with all of the latest technologies using only a standard commodity personal computer. © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering. 2020.

In this demo, we showcase a generic cross-technologycommunication scheme allowing bidirectional communication between off-the-shelf IoT devices operating in the 2.4 GHz band. In particular, we make use of and extend the X-Burst framework to enable communication between devices embedding a Wi-Fi, BLE, or IEEE 802.15.4 radio. X-Burst encodes data in the duration of energy bursts by transmitting legitimate frames with different payload length. Devices with incompatible physical layer, but operating on overlapping channels, can detect the energy bursts and decode information by sampling the received signal strength at a high frequency. As the transmission of frames with variable size and energy detection are features available in most off-the-shelf IoT devices, X-Burst is not technology-specific and allows to broadcast cross-technology frames to multiple devices using diverse technologies simultaneously. In the literature, wireless powered communication networks (WPCNs) are typically assumed to employ dynamic time division multiple access (TDMA), such that the rate and duration for information transmission of each energy harvesting user (EHU) is adjusted in each TDMA frame. Such implementations are fairly complex, so, in this paper, we propose a simple model for a WPCN employing a static TDMA, where each EHU employs fixed rate transmission over fixed time slot duration. Specifically, we develop a simple communication scheme that maximizes the network throughput by proper selection of the duration of the radio frequency energy broadcasts by the base station (BS), and the optimal information rate and optimal transmission duration of each EHU. the performance of such system depends only on the average gains of the channels between the BS and each EHU, which can be estimated more cost effectively than the instantaneous channel state information.
