In order to increase the level of convenience, people drive the car instead of walking. this case made the city’s traffic flow larger than before, and the probability of traffic accidents increase as the same time. Because of the improving in the number of traffic accidents and the dissatisfaction of road users in the vehicle network. To improve this phenomenon, the Vehicular Ad Hoc networks (VANET) technology has been proposed. the main concept of VANET is to build an on-board sensor network, and then exchange information among the vehicles for obtaining the traffic information. In the process of information transmission, the storage and processing requirement will increase relatively. Furthermore, the latency for transmitting data between the terminal device and the data center is still an important problem that needs to be improved. In a real situation, the sensing devices under the VANET may be faulty, and these faulty devices may disturb the correctness and consistence of the overall VANET system. In order to reduce the latency and to achieve the correctness and consistency for the vehicular network system, an agreement based method for ensuring the correctness and consistency of the vehicular information system under the fog computing network has been proposed in this paper. Under the proposed three layers architecture of fog computing network, users can get the real-time traffic information of the local area with low latency and get the related information about the remote traffic condition in advanced. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

the deployment of embedded sensing devices on croplands and pastures is an enabling element for precision agriculture applications. Changing conditions (e.g., different crops being grown), however, may require the occasional reconfiguration of the resulting networks of wireless sensors, e.g., to modify data reporting rates or synchronize internal clocks. In this demo we showcase an opportunistic broadcast channel to forward such configuration messages to embedded systems. the transmitting station is realized by means of an electric fence energizer, a device frequently utilized in agricultural settings. On the receiver side, only little hardware efforts are required to capture the high-voltage pulses and decode transmitted configuration messages.

Millimeter-Wave (mmWave) communication in ultra-dense networks (UDNs) has been considered as a promising technology for future wireless communication systems. Exploiting the benefits of mmWave and UDNs, we introduce a new approach for jointly optimizing small-cell base station (SBS)-user (UE) association and power allocation to maximize the system energy efficiency (EE) while guaranteeing the quality of service (QoS) constraints for each UE. the SBS-UE association problem poses a new challenge since it reflects as a complex mixed-integer non-convex problem. On the other hand, the power allocation problem is in non-convexity structure, which is impossible to handle with the association problem concurrently. An alternating descent method is thus introduced to divide the primal optimization problem into two sub-problems and handle one-by-one at each iteration, where the SBS-UE association problem is reformulated using the penalty approach. then, path-following algorithms are developed to convert non-convex problem into the simple convex quadratic functions at each iteration. Explicit Congestion Notification (ECN) as a main part of the Internet congestion control was originally designed with a single queue in mind. But, nowadays data centers industry trends to have multiple queues per-port in its switches. this type of mismatch can affect the scheduling schemes and hence leads to remarkable performance degradation in multi-queue switches. For instance, when some of the queue buffers of the switch exceed the considered thresholds, all the packets belonging to the same shared port could get ECN mark. To cope with this challenge, we propose Priority-ECN, a first systematic solution to this problem. the first intuition of Priority-ECN lies in the fact that if any packet gets marked, it should be prioritized to pass a route quicker than the others to notify the condition of the network in an early stage. this presents a full view of instantaneous demand from all senders. the second intuition is that if any packet gets marked in the queue buffer, Priority-ECN will not consider them in the marking decision again in the output port buffer. the third intuition is to reach the goal of high throughput without sacrificing the latency. So, we use an approach similar to Cut Payload (CP), which drops the payloads of packets, rather than the metadata, when a queue reaches the threshold. We do so through dual couple buffer in output port and catch the advantage of CP to implement an efficient scheme to obtains near optimal flow completion times across different flow sizes with very low latency.

In this paper, we introduce the OpenVLC1.2 research platform for low-end visible light communication (VLC) networks. the platform builds on top of previous versions that has attracted dozens of users from the VLC research community. We maintain its main advantages such as the support for communication with TCP/IP layers, software-based and programmable MAC and PHY layers and low-cost front-end. In this new version, we make an effort to increase the network throughput to 100 kb/s, i.e. by a factor of 8 with respect to previous versions, without adding any hardware cost. this benefit comes from our exploitation of the Programmable Real-time Units (PRUs) of the BeagleBone Black board, together with our low-resource consumption frame detection technique.

the fault diagnosis in a modern communication system is traditionally supposed to be difficult, or even impractical for a purely data-driven machine learning approach, for it is a humanmade system of intensive knowledge. A few labeled raw packet streams extracted from fault archive can hardly be sufficient to deduce the intricate logic of underlying protocols. In this paper, we supplement these limited samples with two inexhaustible data sources: the unlabeled records probed from a system in service, and the labeled data simulated in an emulation environment. To transfer their inherent knowledge to the target domain, we construct a directed information flow graph, whose nodes are neural network components consisting of two generators, three discriminators and one classifier, and whose every forward path represents a pair of adversarial optimization goals, in accord with the semi-supervised and transfer learning demands. the multi-headed network can be trained in an alternative approach, at each iteration of which we select one target to update the weights along the path upstream, and refresh the residual layer-wisely to all outputs downstream. the actual results show that it can achieve comparable accuracy on classifying Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) streams without deliberate expert features. the solution has relieved operation engineers from massive works of understanding and maintaining rules, and provided a quick solution independent of specific protocols.

An increasingly huge amount of sport news published from a number of heterogeneous sources on the Web brings challenges to the traditional searching method using keywords. Providing an expressive way to retrieve news items and exploiting the advantages of semantic search technique in the development of Web-based sports news aggregation system is within our consideration. this paper presents a method to translate natural language questions into queries in SPARQL, the standard query language recommended by W3C for semantic data. Our contribution consists mainly of the construction of a semantic model representing a question, the detection of ontology vocabularies and knowledge base elements in question, and their mapping to generate a query. We evaluate the method based on a set of natural language questions and the results show that the proposed method achieves good performance with respect to precision. © 2019, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

this article demonstrates the possibility of constructing indicators of critical and crash phenomena in the volatile market of cryptocurrency. For this purpose, the methods of the theory of complex systems have been used. the possibility of constructing dynamic measures of complexity as recurrent, entropy, network, quantum behaving in a proper way during actual pre-crash periods has been shown. this fact is used to build predictors of crashes and critical events phenomena on the examples of all the patterns recorded in the time series of the key cryptocurrency Bitcoin, the effectiveness of the proposed indicators-precursors of these falls has been identified. From positions, attained by modern theoretical physics the concept of economic Planck’s constant has been proposed. the theory on the economic dynamic time series related to the cryptocurrencies market has been approved. then, combining the empirical cross-correlation matrix with the random matrix theory, we mainly examine the statistical properties of cross-correlation coefficient, the evolution of the distribution of eigenvalues and corresponding eigenvectors of the global cryptocurrency market using the daily returns of 24 cryptocurrencies price time series all over the world from 2013 to 2018. the result has indicated that the largest eigenvalue reflects a collective effect of the whole market, and is very sensitive to the crash phenomena. It has been shown that both the introduced economic mass and the largest eigenvalue of the matrix of correlations can act like quantum indicator-predictors of falls in the market of cryptocurrencies. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

the introduction of Machine Learning in large scale utility networks extends the room for improvement in the quality of service and maintenance costs. the ever expanding network of smart meters allows for a more accurate estimation of the state of the water distribution systems, at the same time requiring modern data processing solutions. By fusion with the more traditional approach in this field of research it is possible to enhance the existing capabilities for network analysis and to extend the algorithms to the level of cognitive abilities that form a basis for more efficient decision support system. In this paper we extend the fault sensitivity analysis for water distribution systems with the insights provided by state-of-the-art Machine Learning algorithms for data clustering and anomaly detection.

Wireless Sensor networks establish the foundation for a revolution in precision agriculture. As an integral part of smart farming systems, they can collect detailed information about crop health, air and soil conditions, and other relevant parameters to support agriculturists in their decision-making. Likewise, decentralized actuation (e.g., opening sprinkler valves) becomes possible when embedded sensor and actuator devices are deployed. From a technical point of view, smart farming systems strongly rely on embedded devices with wireless communication interfaces to cater for their convenient deployment. the operation of their wireless radio transceivers, however, often represents a significant energetic burden. this is particularly conspicuous when compared to the low-power microcontrollers that have become ubiquitous on current-generation sensing systems. We mitigate this issue by following an entirely different approach in this work, namely by exploiting the presence of electric fence energizers that are widely used in farming scenarios. Our solution called PULSEHV modulates data onto the high-voltage electric pulses emitted by fence energizers and thus enables broadcast communications at no extra overhead. As electrical fences commonly encircle entire patches of cropland, they act as large sending antennas;a proximity between deployed sensing devices and this antenna is implicitly ensured thereby. We practically demonstrate how PULSEHV accomplishes an effective data rate of 2.7 bit/s through the application of pulse position modulation. this limited throughput is counterbalanced by the fact that receiving the broadcast transmissions incurs virtually no energy overhead.
