As the widespread deployment and usage of 802.11-based wireless local area networks (WLANs), Wi-Fi users are vulnerable to be attacked by a security threat called evil twins. the evil twin, a kind of rogue access points (RAPs), masquerades as a legitimate access point (AP) to lure users to connect it. Malicious adversaries can easily configure evil twins on a laptop to induce victim wireless users. the presence of such a threat continuously leads to significant loss of information. In this paper, we propose a passive client-side detection approach that allows users to independently identify and locate evil twins without any assistance from a wireless network administrator. Because of the forwarding behavior of evil twins, proposed method compares 802.11 data frames sent by target APs to users to determine evil twin attacks. We implemented our detection and location technique in a Python tool named ET-spotter. through implementation and evaluation in our study, our algorithm achieves 96% accuracy in distinguishing evil twins from legitimate APs.

Edge computing is an increasingly popular paradigm, wherein computation comes closer to the sources of data. A key challenge for edge computing is discovering and utilizing the heterogeneous resources of the vast number of mobile devices at the network edge. Mobile edge devices hide behind private networks, they are mobile and their owners hesitate to share them due to privacy considerations. We propose Kinaara1 a framework for discovering and allocating collective resources for edge computing applications. First, Kinaara uses a multi-tier architecture to organize geographically proximal edge devices in clusters and provide their resources via trusted mediator entities. Second, it uses a novel resource representation to name and encode devices in terms of the resources advertised by their users. third, it uses a novel distributed indexing scheme to organize devices in a proximal cluster on a ring logical structure based on their resource similarity. Our extensive experimental evaluation on a large Wi-Fi mobility dataset of 150K users and 345 APs show that compared to existing approaches Kinaara reduces resource discovery overhead by up to 70% and is robust to device mobility.

In this paper, we proposed an indoor lightwave positioning system contains correlation operations with genetic algorithms. the implemented CDMA signaling system by spread spectrum (SS) codes can locate the position of the robot receiver as against noise interference. In the allocated LED transmitters, each channel of the transmitted signals is modulated into a series of maximal-length sequence code (M-sequence code) by LED light blinking. In the robot receiver, correlation peaks detection between received summed signal and each local replica signal is based to estimate the distance from each transmitter to the robot. We choose three transmitters among five to closest to the robot for more reliable positioning information. the robot positioning is first estimated by time difference of arrival (TDOA) and then genetic algorithm (GA) optimization is applied for more accurate robot location. We finally simulate out the TDOA result and analyze the accuracy of the robot position. (C) 2017 the Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

In this paper we propose architecture of software-defined heterogenous network based on integration of such modern technologies as NEV, SUR and SDN. We have discovered that mobile network that is built according to SDN, SDR and NFV principles will allow to create new mobile networks. Such networks will constitute a base for transition between standards (GSMUMTS-LTE-LTE Advanced), providing high quality modern services in short time periods. Taking as a basis one of the paradigms of the development of the future heterogenous 5G infrastructure, i.e., network function virtualization, we propose a concept of functional blocks of control and monitoring of the QoS that is realized as part of cloud infrastructure on the basis of SDN network using virtual functional modules CQMF i CQCF.

Driving through intersections is potentially dangerous causing accidents and injury or death of the vehicle's conductor and/or his accompanists. thanks to technological advances, many systems based on Vehicular Ad hoc networks (VANET) are proposed to avoid collisions and improve road users' safety at intersections. In this paper, we investigate the use of Vehicle-To-Vehicle (V2V) communications and Real-Time Databases to mitigate collision risks, reduce the calculation time, and thus enhance safety at intersections. Specifically, we provide a new system, that we call Cooperative Intersection Collision Avoidance Persistent (CICAP) system to avoid potential accidents at intersections and minimize accident risk. Each vehicle stores its information as well as the nearby vehicles' information in a local Real-Time Database (RTDB). As it approaches to the intersection area, the vehicle queries its database and selects the target vehicles to execute the system. We used the VEINS framework to simulate different driving scenarios at urban intersections. Our simulation results confirm the proposed system's performance as a new cooperative intersection collision avoidance system based on V2V communication and RTDB.

We present a feasibility analysis of the controlled delivery power grid (CDG) that uses aggregated power request by users to reduce communications overhead. the CDG, as an approach to the power grid, uses a data network to conununicate requests and grants of power in the distribution of electrical power. these requests and grants allow the energy supplier know the power demand in advance and to designate the loads and the time when power is supplied to them. Each load is assigned a power-network address that is used for communication of requests and grants with the energy supplier. With addressed loads, power is only delivered to selected loads. However, issuing a request for power before delivery takes place requires knowing the demand of power the load consumes during the operation interval. However, it is a general concern that having issuing requests in a time-slot basis may risk request losses and therefore, generate intermittent supply. therefore, we propose request aggregation to minimize the number of requests issued. We show by simulation that the CDG with request aggregation attains high performance, in terms of satisfaction ratio and waiting time for power supply.

Open source software running on SDR (Software Defined Radio) devices now allow building a full-fledged mobile network at low cost. these novel tools open up for exciting possibilities to analyse and verify by experiments the behaviour of existing and emerging mobile networks in new lab environments, for instance at universities. We use SDR equipment and open source software to analyse the feasibility of disclosing private information that is sent over the LTE access network. We verify by experiments that subscriber identity information can be obtained both passively, by listening on the radio link, and actively, by running considerable low detectable rogue base stations to impersonate the commercial network. Moreover, we implement a downgrade attack (to non-LTE networks) with minimal changes to the open source software. Copyright © 2017 by SCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publications, Lda. Ad-hoc network is one of the eminent fields of wireless networks. MANETs and VANETs classify the Wireless ad-hoc network into two main categories. VANETs plays an essential part in the implementation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) to increase road safety based on Artificial Intelligence. the VANETs can be further classified in Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I), Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Hybrid (V2I & V2V). this research takes the advantage of V2V VANETs in order to improvise the vehicle to vehicle communication. the aim is to share traffic information, to avoid collision, efficiently manage the available resources and traffic situation accordingly. Various issues arise during the communication between vehicles and one of the solutions to those issues is clustering. this research work focuses on the clustering of vehicles and the communication is done from cluster head (CH) to CH. Various routing algorithms are present and available to be implemented to route information among vehicles in an efficient way to optimize the performance of the whole network. In this paper, bio inspired routing algorithms;Comprehensive learning PSO (CLPSO) and Multi-Objective PSO (MOPSO) have been compared on the basis of transmission range, number of clusters, number of nodes and grid size for the VANET environment. the results are shown from the comparison of both the algorithms.

Here, we would like to study the efficiency and utilization of radio frequency (RF) transmission in wireless sensor networks. A new dual source queueing model (with finite and infinite numbers of sensors) is introduced in order to obtain the most frequently studied system performance characteristics (e.g. mean response time, average number of jobs waiting for transmission, and the utilization of the RF unit). the different types of sensors form the "sources" and the RF unit forms the "central servicing node" of this model. the elements of the sensor fields are classified according to their working purposes: the first class is the "Emergency" or "Special" class which is responsible to notify special rare events (e.g. fire alarms). the other class is the "Standard" class where sensors measure data from standard conventional events or occurrences (eg. motion detection, wind speed, level of darkness etc). For energy efficiency reasons the Central Unit (or Radio Frequency Unit - RFU) might switch into a reduced functioning mode. this reduced communication mode is for saving energy. the transmissions are closed in this mode. Returning from the reduced mode two cases are considered and two models are created to compare their steady-state system performance characteristics: In the first model, the RF transmission is available randomly to the sensor nodes ("Non-Controlled" case). In the other case, the Central Unit jobs which come from the Special class, can use the wireless service immediately ("Controlled" case).
