Dancing is always challenging especially for beginners who may lack sense of rhythm. Salsa, as a popular style of dancing, is even harder to learn due to its unique overlapped rhythmic patterns made by different Latin instruments (e.g., Clave sticks, Conga drums, Timbale drums) together. In order to dance in synchronization with the Salsa heats, the beginners always need prompts (e.g., beat counting voice) to remind them of the beat timing. the traditional way to generate the Salsa music with heat counting voice prompts requires professional dancers or musicians to count Salsa heats manually, which is only possible in dance studios. Additionally, the existing music beat tracking solutions cannot well capture the Salsa beats due to its intricacy of rhythms. In this work, we propose a mobile device enabled beat counting system, SalsaAsst, which can perform rhythm deciphering and fine-grained Salsa beat tracking to assist Salsa dancers with beat counting voice/vibration prompts. the proposed system can be used conveniently in many scenarios, which can not only help Salsa beginners make accelerated learning progress during practice at home but also significantly reduce professional dancers' errors during their live performance. the developed Salsa beat counting algorithm has the capability to track beats accurately in both real-time and offline manners. Our extensive tests using 10 Salsa songs under 8 evaluation metrics demonstrate that SalsaAsst can accurately track the beats of Salsa music and achieve much better performance comparing to existing beat tracking approaches.

PROFIBUS is a standard for fieldbus communication, used in industrial networks to support real-time command and control. Similar to network protocols developed then, availability is the security objective prioritized in the PROFIBUS design. Confidentiality and integrity were of lesser importance, as industrial protocols were not intended for public access. However, the publicized weaknesses in industrial technologies, including the inclusion of publicly available technology and protocols in industrial networks, presents major risks to industrial networks. this paper investigates the security risks of and provides suggested security solutions for PROFIBUS. the objective is to review the PROFIBUS protocol, to establish the purposefulness of the design and its suitability for the applications where it forms a core part of the infrastructure. the security risks of this protocol are then assessed from successful and possible attacks, based on the vulnerabilities. Proposed security solutions are reviewed and additional recommendations made concerning the use of OPC UA, accompanied by an analysis of the cost of these solutions to the efficiency and safety of the PROFIBUS. the findings of this paper indicate that a defense-in-depth approach is more feasible security solution, with strong security controls being implemented at networks interconnecting with the PROFIBUS networks. Mobile Ad hoc networks (MANETs) are comprised of mobile devices communicating with each other over multi-hop wireless links. Because they do not require any fixed infrastructure, these networks are appropriate for communication in military operations, for example. the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a standard for session establishment in Voice over IP context, notably, but is not adapted to MANETs and peer-to-peer (P2P) networks. though solutions have been proposed, their security properties are not addressed in depth. We thus analyze the different threats affecting a military MANET used for P2PSIP, propose a security solution, based in large part on cryptographic challenges, to counter the identified threats and present some simulation-based experiment results for our proposed solution. © Copyright 2017 by SCITEPRESS - Science and Technology Publications, Lda. the Internet of things (IoT) is one of the revolutionary technologies for healthcare. However, this flourishing still faces too many challenges including security and privacy preservation information. To address these problems, our contribution is to present a scenario of diabetes disease assume a matching between the situation of the patient and the relevant data from monitoring point view. this scenario describes how a patient can collect enormous of vital sign and activity. Wireless Body Sensor networks (WBSN) is one of the IoT building blocks in which a patient can be monitored using a collection of sensor nodes to improve the patients quality of life. this technology in healthcare applications should not ignore security requirements. the aim of this paper is, (1) to design a healthcare architecture for a patient monitoring system, and (2) to explore the major security requirements in WBSN. By placing processing-capable devices at the edge of local wireless access networks, Edge Computing architectures have been recently proposed to connect mobile devices to computational power through a one-hop low-latency wireless link. In this paper, we propose a new design where edge assistance is used to control local data filtering at the mobile devices in bandwidth and energy constrained systems. We focus on real-time monitoring applications, where the video input from mobile devices is processed to centrally detect and recognize objects. the edge processor controls the activation and deactivation of local classifiers implemented by the mobile devices to remove useless portions of video frames. the objective is to adapt the video stream to time-varying bandwidth constraints, while minimizing the additional energy consumption introduced by local processing. To this end, an optimization problem is formulated for a loss function embodying the balance between the risk of violating the available bandwidth and the cost of overly-conservative data filtering. the edge assists the local decision by extracting parameters of the video, such as density of objects of interest in a frame, which influence the output of the sensor. Numerical results, obtained by performing a measurement campaign based on a real implementation, illustrate the tension between energy and bandwidth use for a Haar-feature based cascade classifier.

the heavy multimedia traffic produced by mobile users poses great challenges for the mobile network operators, especially in the areas with large user densities but limited cellular network capacities (e.g. India). Recently, many studies demonstrate that exploiting the device-to-device(D2D) content sharing in offline Mobile Social networks is a promising solution to cellular data offloading. However, such approaches are based on either unrealistic assumptions, or limited data analytics caused by small data size (e.g. hundreds of MSN users) or single dimensional feature (e.g. human mobility only), which severely restricts their applications in practice. To address this issue, this paper performs the first large-scale data measurement and multi-feature analytics of D2D content sharing. Specifically, by using Apache Spark over a 20-server cluster, we analyse the behaviours of 30 million users (with 40 billion D2D transmissions and 16 million content files) of Xender, a leading global D2D sharing platform. Several important features are studied, including performance basics, content properties, location relations, meeting dynamics, and social characteristics. Furthermore, as a proof-of-concept study of our analytics, we also develop a multi feature learning based framework, which demonstrates the large potentials of predicting and recommending D2D sharing activities using machine learning methods.

Vehicular networking is an enabling technology that promises a huge advancement in the field of Intelligent Transport System (ITS) and mobile networks. Vehicular Ad hoc NetworK (VANET) is emerging quickly as a new architecture that is based on V2X communications. Vehicles are equipped with Electronic Control Units (ECUs) which are interconnected via various intra-vehicle networks (e.g., LIN, CAN, Ethernet, MOST, and FlexRay). Accordingly, a communication gateway is required to facilitate interfacing between the different vehicular environment components. To the best of our knowledge, contributions in this area are very limited. In this context, this paper proposes a new In-car gateway architecture for the Intra and Inter vehicular networks in order to perform the required specifications for V2X communications.
