Nowadays, 3D reconstruction has been introduced in monitoring the package placement in logistic industry-related applications. Existing 3D econstruction methods are mainly based on computer vision or sensor-based approaches, which are limited by the line-of-sight or battery life constraint. In this paper, we propose RF-3DScan to perform 3D reconstruction on tagged packages via passive RFID, by attaching multiple reference tags onto the surface of the packages. the basic idea is that by moving the antenna along straight lines within a constrained 2-dimensional space, the antenna obtains the RF-signals of the reference tags attached on the packages. By extracting the phase differences to build the angle profile for each tag, RF-3DScan can compare the angle profiles of the different reference tags and derive their relative positions, then further determine the package orientation and stacking for 3D reconstruction. We implement RF- 3DScan and evaluate its performance in real settings. the experiment results show that the average identification accuracy of the bottom face is about 92.5%, and the average estimation error of the rotation angle is about 4.08 o .

Electric vehicles (EVs) will become a component of the future generation intelligent transportation system. Because of EVs' limited battery power, the wireless power transfer (WPT) system has drawn much attention in recent years. the WPT system charges EVs in motion when they pass the charging lanes installed in roads without requiring physical contact between utility power supply and vehicle battery. A charging lane has limited power that can be transferred to EVs on the charging lane. A challenge here is how to allocate the limited power to the EVs so that they have sufficient power to arrive at the next charging lane or their destinations (when there are no charging lanes ahead). In this paper, we study this power distribution scheduling problem. We provide solutions to handle this challenge and also achieve each of the following goals as much as possible: i) balancing the state of charge (SOC) of the EVs, ii) balancing the amount of stored power of the EVs, and iii) minimizing the total power charged. this paper is the first work that handles such a power distribution scheduling problem in WPT systems. Our extensive experiments on MatLab and Simulation for Urban MObility (SUMO) show the effectiveness of our scheduling solutions in achieving the different goals compared with other scheduling methods including first-come-first-serve and equal share.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology brings a revolutionary change in warehouse management by automatically monitoring and tracking products. the grouping problem is to efficiently inform all tags which groups they belong to, such that tags in the same group have the same group ID. With this information, the reader can transmit data through efficient multicast rather than tedious unicast. However in the dynamic RFID system, where the group IDs change frequently, existing works suffer from low time- efficiency. In light of this, this paper proposes the binary grouping (BIG) protocol to improve the grouping performance in the dynamic RFID system. BIG follows three design principles. First, for the to-be-grouped tags, BIG separates them from the entire tag set before grouping, so that the not-to-be-grouped tags will not participate in the following grouping, reducing the running delay. Second, for the update of group ID, BIG flips only the bits of group ID which differ from the previous ones, instead of updating all bits of the group ID, saving the communication overhead. third, BIG adopts a Huffman coding based grouping scheme, which classifies tags into different groups in an efficient way. the extensive simulations show BIG outperforms the existing promising works.

Software Defined Networking (SDN) has generated tremendous interest in the telecommunication industry due to its ability to abstract, manage and dynamically re-configure end-to-end networks from the centralized controller. In this poster, for the first time, the architecture of SDN controlled wireless backhauling framework for Train to Ground communication system is proposed. We demonstrate how our architecture can efficiently handle mobility management and also provide dynamic quality-of-service (QoS) for different services on board.

Site survey cost has become a major deployment challenge for large-scale wireless systems. Some previous approaches require explicit user inputs to label the locations of crowdsourced signals, which is inconvenient in practice. Others may rely on intensively-calibrated specialized sensors. Furthermore, the locations of crowdsourced signals are usually random and sparse, making it difficult to build a complete signal map. To address these, we propose Surecose, a novel signal map construction system by implicit crowdsourcing and interaction of low-cost cooperative sensors. Surecose is initialized with the light-weight sparse signal map collection. Having the background application on, the naive users are implicit surveyors unknowingly uploading crowdsourced signals. Phones may detect each other (mobile sensors), or beacons (fixed sensors). To label their locations, Surecose measures the mutual sensor proximity of the IoT devices. Via joint location labeling and sensor calibration, Surecose transparently locates the users despite devices used. then Surecose constructs the database with a directionally and environmentally adapted Gaussian process, which scales the labeled locations and RSSIs anywhere into a complete signal map. Extensive experiments in diverse environments, including a campus hall, an international airport and a premium shopping mall, have validated that Surecose can adaptively and accurately construct the Wi-Fi signal map (often more than 20% reduction in RSSI construction error), with low survey cost (around 70% survey reduction) and little human intervention.

Accessibility problems such as obstacles on sidewalks can make navigation dangerous for the visually impaired. Detecting these accessibility problems using embedded cameras is a plausible remedy. However, current computer vision algorithms for object detection rely on exhaustive search with high-dimensional features that present a heavy computational burden and incur a long latency, making them non-ideal for real-time object detection on embedded platforms. To address this problem, inspired by prior-based searching schemes from human vision, we accelerate the machine vision process by using scene-specific features to select candidate regions in the view for further processing. Our system, {\hav} achieves speedup by trading off the workload from on-line detection to off-line prior data collection and extraction. We demonstrate a complete, scalable PreSight prototype to accelerate general computer vision object detection algorithms with focus on detecting of sidewalk accessibility problems. Our prototype system automates the process of creating a geo- tagged database of object-specific priors using crowdsourcing and utilizes this prior knowledge to speedup object detection on embedded platforms. Evaluating under two benchmark object detection algorithms, we demonstrate that the detection latency can be reduced by around 8 times with the aid of PreSight.

the advances in the communication field results in need for higher data rates in addition to both increase in power efficiency and lower bit error rate (BER). Multiple input multiple output-Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMOOFDM) is extensively used in current and next generation broadband wireless communications to yield a high data rate of transmission and spectral efficiency over the multipath fading channels. the MIMO-OFDM systems has a major drawback as is it suffers from high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) which in turn requires designing of efficient power amplifier (PA), in order to maintain a wider linear region for preventing signal clipping, which therefore increases hardware complexity and power consumption. the various PAPR reduction algorithms have been developed which provide a maximum PAPR reduction ranging from 0.5 to 6 dB. the maximum SNR loss after applying a Beamforming technique is reported around 0.2 dB with BER of around 10-4 to 10-6. In the current work. Performance of PAPR analysis and reduction algorithms for beam-forming techniques include Maximum Ratio Transmission (MRT), Equal Gain Transmission (EGT) and receive combining techniques Maximum Ratio Combining (MRC), Equal Gain Combining (EGC) for MIMO-OFDM system is evaluated and reported. Measurement of MIMO-OFDM is done in terms of BER, PAPR reduction, Signal to Noise ratio (SNR) with two major PAPR reduction scheme Selective Level Mapping (SLM) and Partial Transmit Sequence (PTS).

In this paper, we investigate the achievable secrecy rate in a relay channel where the source and the destination wish to keep the information confidential from an untrusted relay (potential eavesdropper). the relay has no energy supply, and harvests its required energy for relaying from its received signals. For radio-frequency (RF) Energy Harvesting (EH) at the relay, we adopt power splitting (PS) approach. We study the problem of achieving positive secrecy rates between the transmitter and the receiver while making use of an untrusted relay. Energy limitation at the relay makes the problem more interesting. Because, the relay must choose either to eavesdrop the signal to be able to decode or to harvest energy (from the information signal) to be able to forward the message. Our scheme to guarantee the secrecy uses cooperative jamming by either the destination or an extra jammer node. We derive the achievable secrecy rates for the compress-and-forward (CF) and amplify-and-forward (AF) relays for two different scenarios. First, we assume the destination and the Jammer are two separate nodes. then, we consider destination-assisted jamming. In addition, we let the relay to use both the sources and the Jammers transmitted signals to harvest energy. Our numerical results show that our proposed schemes guarantee a positive secrecy rate by properly locating the jammer and allocating enough jamming power. However, for a given power budget (i.e., fixed total transmission and jamming power) there is an optimum amount for the jamming power.

A key challenge in wireless networks is to control and minimize power. In this paper, we study a total power minimization problem subject to power and Signal-to-Interference-plus-Noise Ratio (SINR) constraints in wireless networks with multiple independent channels. the objective is to minimize the total transmission power of the system while the sum rate targets of channels are satisfied. However, this problem is non-convex and thus is hard to solve. through the Shannon capacity formula, we establish a connection between power and rate, and get an equivalent transformation of this optimization problem. We transfer the original problem from power domain into rate domain, which plays an important role in using convex approximation next and algorithm design. then, leveraging the Perron-Frobenius theorem, we reformulate the problem with spectral radius constraint. Finally we obtain an approximated convex problem with rate as variable of the initial optimization problem. Further, we propose a corresponding convex approximation algorithm to get the approximation value. Simulation results evaluate that our algorithm can achieve efficient power and rate allocations.
