Securing cyber system is a major concern as security attacks become more and more sophisticated. We develop in this paper a novel graph-based Active Cyber Defense (ACD) model to proactively respond to cyber attacks. the proposed model is based on the use of a semantically rich graph to describe cyber systems, types of used interconnection between them, and security related data useful to develop active defense strategies. the developed model takes into consideration the probabilistic nature of cyber attacks, and their degree of complexity. In this context, analytics are provided to proactively test the impact of vulnerabilities/threats increase on the system, analyze the consequent behavior of cyber systems and security solution, and decide about the security state of the whole cyber system. Our model integrates in the same framework decisions made by cyber defenders based on their expertise and knowledge, and decisions that are automatically generated using security analytic rules.

In this paper, the consensus problem for linear multi-agent systems subject to non-uniform time-varying communication delays and jointly connected switching networks is investigated. Both distributed dynamic state feedback control law and distributed dynamic output feedback control law are proposed. By establishing some technical lemmas, it is shown that the proposed distributed control laws can solve the consensus problem.

Inefficiency of wireless sensor networks (WSN) in terms of the network lifetime is one of the major reasons preventing their widespread use. To alleviate this problem different data collection approaches have been proposed. One of the promising techniques is to use unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). In spite of several papers advocating this approach, there have been no system designs and associated performance evaluation proposed to date. In this paper, we address this issue by proposing a new WSN design, where UAV serves as a sink while Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is used as a communication technology. We analyze the proposed design in terms of the network lifetime and area coverage comparing it with routed WSNs. Our results reveal that the lifetime of the proposed design is approximately two orders of magnitude longer than that of the routed WSNs. Using the tools of integral geometry we show that the density of nodes to cover a certain area is approximately two times more for routed WSNs compared to our design.

this paper proposes an efficient load balancing scheme for distributed controller in Software-Defined Networking-based mission-critical networks. Based on load status and dynamic weight coefficient on each controller, the proposed scheme guarantees load balancing in control plane to achieve better resource usage, reliability and resilience in the network. Furthermore, by using pre-defined load threshold, communication overhead is significantly reduced in comparison with existing approaches. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is effective in terms of communication overhead and performance of load balancing in the control plane.

A smart city uses information technology to integrate and manage physical, social, and business infrastructures in order to provide better services to its dwellers while ensuring efficient and optimal utilization of available resources. Withthe proliferation of technologies such as Internet of things (IoT), cloud computing, and interconnected networks, smart cities can deliver innovative solutions and more direct interaction and collaboration between citizens and the local government. Despite a number of potential benefits, digital disruption poses many challenges related to information security and privacy. this paper proposes a security framework that integrates the blockchain technology with smart devices to provide a secure communication platform in a smart city.

this work investigates various methods to expand the deployment of Wireless Sensor-Actuator networks (WSANs) to mission critical applications. We address the neglected open issues of hard deadline and deterministic delivery for event-triggered traffic in safety and closed-loop regulatory systems. DeMAC algorithm is proposed by utilizing TDMA-based subslots in emergency access periods, group acknowledgement, alternative packet structure, and relay node. the proposed algorithm displayed promising results in comparison with contention-based methods, in improving delivery rate of critical data within the deadline, and lowering the worst-case delay.
