Nowadays, the problem of the coordination of relay protection systems during faults becomes widespread, as the trip of the circuit breaker must be fast. One of the solutions is the application of the Internet of things. the object of this research is a relay protection system architecture, which uses elements of the Internet of things and is based on open standards. the research aims to address the efficiency of using the Internet of things in the relay protection systems, as well as the relevance of the proposed architecture. this architecture unifies processes encompassing relay protection, data collection, analysis, real-time communication protocols, and secure data transmission techniques. Apart from the increased quality of relay protection, it provides a well-organized framework for the precise and efficient acquisition, transmission, and analysis of data. As a result of the research, it was derived that the Internet of things can be used in relay protection applications along with the proposed architecture if certain conditions are met. © 2024 the Authors. this paper offers an overview of Wireless Sensor networks (WSNs) and how they might be used in surveillance systems. With the help of WSNs, sensors may connect to one another and establish networks, enabling intelligent interactions with the physical world. In particular, the article addresses the need to solve energy efficiency issues while taking quality of service (QoS) and latency requirements into consideration. the research also emphasizes the need of energy-aware protocols in WSNs, especially for surveillance applications. the authors provide an overview of MAC protocols used in surveillance applications, looking at their presumptions, energy waste factors, and various protocols' efficacy. they go over many forms of communication, such as broadcast, converging cast, local gossip, and multicast, and they evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of MAC protocols, such as S-MAC, T-MAC, TRAMA, SIFT, and DSMAC. Collision avoidance, fair channel access, energy efficiency, support for quality of service, scalability, and adaptation to network dynamics are just a few of the characteristics of a well-defined MAC protocol that are covered. the paper also examines the uses of MAC protocols in WSNs, including asset tracking, home automation, environmental sensing, smart cities, precision agriculture, traffic monitoring, healthcare monitoring, intrusion detection systems, and environmental monitoring. An overview of the benefits and drawbacks of MAC protocols is presented in a comparison table at the end. According to the paper's conclusion, there is no standardized MAC protocol for sensor networks because the option depends on the particular application and its specifications. Researchers working on energy-aware procedures in WSNs, particularly in surveillance, are intended to benefit from the findings of this paper. © 2023 IEEE.

the objective of this paper is to evaluate, from the point of view of energy efficiency, the communication protocols whose characteristics make them suitable to the implementation requirements in the infrastructure of Wireless Sensor networks (WSN). the WiFi, GSM and LoRa protocols are evaluated in this regard, being some of the most widely used for applications of sensor networks. An accurate estimation of the energy consumption for network connection, data acquisition, raw data processing, and data transmission helps proper sizing for versatile indoor or outdoor monitoring solution. the tests were performed on similar data acquisition boards, with similar sensor shields for acquired parameters, but with different data communication transceivers. A special interest was shown to LoRa, and the results of the tests show the flexibility and adaptability of this protocol in WSN with low volume data exchange. © 2022 IEEE.

Propagation delay in blockchain networks is a major impairment of message transmission and validation in the bitcoin network. the transaction delay caused by message propagation across long network chains can cause significant threats to the bitcoin network integrity by allowing miners to find blocks during the message consensus process. Potential threats of slow transaction dissemination include double-spending, partitions, and eclipse attacks. In this paper, we propose a method for minimizing propagation delay by reducing non-compulsory message broadcasts during transaction dissemination in the underlying blockchain network. Our method will decrease the propagation delay in the bitcoin network and consequently mitigate the security threats based on message dissemination delay. Our results show improvement in the delay time with more effect on networks with a large number of nodes. © 2022 IEEE.

this article explores the integration of AI-driven adaptive traffic management systems with real-time air quality monitoring as a novel solution for reducing air pollution in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Utilizing advanced artificial intelligence algorithms and Internet of things (IoT) sensors, the proposed system dynamically adjusts traffic signals and reroutes vehicles based on real-time data on traffic density, vehicle emissions, and environmental conditions. the study involves the creation of a simulated dataset to train and evaluate the performance of artificial neural networks (ANNs) and long short-term memory (LSTM) networks in predicting PM2.5 levels. Results indicate that the ANN model outperforms the LSTM model, demonstrating lower loss and mean absolute error (MAE), making it highly effective for real-time traffic management applications. Despite using simulated data, the study underscores the potential benefits of acquiring actual data for further validation. the findings highlight the significance of AI-driven solutions in urban planning, offering scalable strategies to improve air quality and urban health in cities facing similar challenges. © 2024 the Authors.

Besides the high reliability and low latency, the deterministic services in the 5G-Adv/6G systems also require the low jitter. the integration of 5G with TSN has been standardized in 3GPP Release16, and enhanced in Release17 in order to support the deterministic communication. However, the 5G-TSN system is still in infancy, and has not been widely deployed. In this paper, we propose a novel deterministic communication technique in the 5G-Adv/6G radio access networks in order to eliminate the jitter. At first, the granularity and reference start time of the data forwarding time are determined by the gNB and informed to UE. then, the data forwarding time is derived considering the scheduling information and processing capability, then delivered to UE in case of downlink transmission. At the receiver side, the received data should be forwarded from MAC layer to the higher layer at the determined data forwarding time. In this scheme, the jitter caused by the differences of gNB processing delay, UE processing delay, and intra-slot TTI alignment delay can be eliminated with a slight increasing of transmission latency. the performance evaluation by using the results from the 5G networks in our lab also verifies our conclusion.

the popularity of microservice architecture abbreviated MSA has attracted researchers and practitioners in recent years. MSA aims to divide the complex monolithic system from the service to the database into several autonomous blocks called microservices. In this way, updates and deployment of each service can be managed independently. the dissociation of data storage for each microservice is one of the particularities of this architecture. However, the manual implementation of certain tasks in the design and development of the MSA is time-consuming particularly with regard to data management. the objective of this article is therefore to automatically generate the data structure of a microservice from ReLEL in order to systematically derive the MSA databases. Our approach is based on the Praxeme methodology. It is realized in two stages. First, the semantic aspect is derived. then, we develop ATL derivation rules to design the data structure. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. All rights reserved.

Understanding facial expressions is important for the interactions among humans as it conveys a lot about the person's identity and emotions. Research in human emotion recognition has become more popular nowadays due to the advances in the machine learning and deep learning techniques. However, the spread of COVID-19, and the need for wearing masks in the public has impacted the current emotion recognition models' performance. therefore, improving the performance of these models requires datasets with masked faces. In this paper, we propose a model to generate realistic face masks using generative adversarial network models, in particular image inpainting. the MAFA dataset was used to train the generative image inpainting model. In addition, a face detection model was proposed to identify the mask area. the model was evaluated using the MAFA and CelebA datasets, and promising results were obtained. © 2022 IEEE.

this article discusses methods for unifying the analysis and evaluation of indicators of scientific activity of scientists. the authors propose using professional and publication profiles to improve licensing and accreditation processes in educational institutions. the study highlights the importance of integrating modern information technology into research management, which allows for optimizing data retrieval and analysis processes. the primary attention is paid to publication activity as a critical indicator of scientific productivity and research quality. the article also discusses the need to regularly update competency models and employee profiles to ensure they are relevant and valuable. the results demonstrate that the unification of analysis methods and the use of profiles contribute to increasing the accuracy of management decisions, developing employees' scientific potential, and achieving educational institutions' strategic goals. Further research in this area aims to improve the quality of scientific research, strengthen international cooperation, and increase educational institutions' competitiveness at the global level. © 2024 the Authors.
