the design of efficient router represents a key issue for the success of the Network-on-chip approach. this paper presents and evaluates a novel router architecture MIC@R suitable for networks-on-Chip (NoC) Design. this router offers lowest latency (1 cycle) and allows supporting several adaptive routing algorithms. Latency reduction is obtained by using Fast Parallel Routing (FPR) arbitration that consists in parallel processing -in one stage, routing decisions and arbitration. the proposed router architecture is evaluated in 2D Mesh with two adaptive routing algorithms: fully adaptive (FA) and Proximity Congestion Awareness (PCA). the obtained results show that our router, combined with adaptive routing techniques is effective in terms of latency and throughput.

Location based services (LBS) have generated a lot of interest in recent years, in the era of significant telecommunications competition. Mobile network operators continuously seek new and innovative ways to offer new services and increase the profit. In the days to come, location based service will be benefiting both the consumers and network operators. Mobile operators should consider various aspects when offering LBS, including network technology evolution, standardization, user acceptance, and the availability of attractive services. Many location-based services require the involvement of many different parties in order to provide the value added service. this paper presents current trends and requirements for LBS implementation in GSM, GPRS and UMTS networks.

FlexRay is a new standard of communication between electronic devices installed in a vehicle. the protocol is based on mechanisms known from telecommunication networks coupled with real time requirements. Paper describes a creative study of the new concept, consisting in implementation of selected mechanisms and devices in dedicated digital circuit. Bus guardian block, responsible for enabling/disabling the access to media and error detection was selected. the architecture, containing a series of finite state machines, watchdogs, and other logic, controlled by the programmable registers, accessible via the serial interface, was proposed. the design was implemented in VHDL and verified. the rough synthesis for a programmable circuit (FPGA) was successfully performed. FlexRay protocol is still in the development phase. the authors referred to the preliminary version of the specification.

Optical burst switching (OBS) technology offers a promising solution for the next generation Internet backbone. However, call admission control (CAC) constitutes a critical issue in its services developments. Some studies have considered the CAC problem in OBS networks. Yet, all proposed schemes are limited to the use of mean values of some network parameters (MVA: Mean Values Approach), which may lead to false decisions in terms of traffic admission, and so the degradation of the network performances. In this paper, we propose a QoS-oriented scheme for a real time admission control in OBS networks. this may allow more accurate decision; thus, better QoS provision and more efficient resources utilization. We develop an analytic model for a mathematical formulation of the proposed scheme. We also propose a simulation that we conducted to validate the proposed scheme and evaluate its performances.

Optical Label Switching (OLS) has been proposed as new paradigm to provide optical resource provision and support of Quality of service (QoS) satisfaction for application with various constraints. Admission Control and planning are critical tasks affecting OLS networks, since the network design and data operational costs are fundamental criterion in networking platform and operation. In this paper, we introduce a novel technique for network resource and traffic management based on real-time handling of the network capability and traffic requirements. this technique handles signaling tasks, admission control and contention resolution. We develop a scalable admission control and planning formulation approach based on buffering and transmission capabilities, and traffic requirements. Finally, simulation experiments are performed in order to validate our proposal.

-the evolution strategy of NGN laboratory towards the converged networks based on IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) as trends and aims for implementation of converged NGN network is presented in the article. this article describes actual implementation of NGN laboratory and future planned extensions and integration work for incorporating IMS core elements to our laboratory as unified service control subsystem. Existing NGN solution includes applications and our experiences with integrations of applications and their usability.

this paper presents principles of an end-user development support for embedded system networking. the presented approach offers a design framework consisting of reusable patterns for Internet-based embedded system applications. the framework provides a development environment kernel that can be adapted for various embedded system application domains. It stems from (1) the IEEE 1451.1 smart transducer interface standard, which is an object-based networking model supporting group messaging; and (2) the Internet protocol multicast communication, mediating efficient and unified access to distributed components through both wired and wireless intranets. As an example, this paper focuses on refinement of those concepts for smart sensor application development support and on their utilization for a gas pipes pressure measurement system as an application example. the paper brings this scheme in form suitable not only for framework builders, but also for end-user developers

New mobile applications and services in the field of e.g. healthcare, transport and mobile work and business processes implies to manage huge amount of relevant information. In many cases involved people e.g. a patient or a worker are not aware of specific data or not able to take an active role in this managing process. the key to it is the development of Intelligent Wireless Sensor networks for transferable applications. this is seen as the consequent next step forward within the field of mobile applications and services the upcoming new wireless technologies open the door to a wide field of new possibilities thereby creating the basis for a new approach to communication. this new approach will empower businesses to implement true mobile products and services in leisure, production and enterprise related contexts. Today we have high focus on new mobile services and applications using the existing technology. In the meanwhile the interoperability with other wireless technologies has become more and more important. Our goal is to design and construct a system that can be put into practical use and prove the benefits and potential of this vital data monitoring system. We describe an experimental system for measuring acceleration from which, we could evaluate the problems facing practical use.

the field of optimisation covers a great multitude of principles, methods and frameworks aimed at maximisation of an objective under constraints. However, the classical optimisation can not be easily applied in the context of computer-based systems architecture as there is not enough knowledge concerning the dependencies between non-functional qualities of the system. Out approach is based on the simulation optimisation methodology where the system simulation is first created to assess the current state of the design with respect to the objectives. the results of the simulation are used to construct a Bayesian belief network which effectively becomes a base for an objective function and serves as the main source of the decision support pertaining to the guidance of the optimisation process. the potential effects of each proposed change or combination of changes is then examined by updating and re-evaluating the system simulation

the paper presents a cluster-based hybrid reconflgurable architecture for auto-adaptive SoC to achieve high- performance and flexibility with low design effort on a variety of multimedia applications. An efficient adaptivity is enabled thanks to the use of heterogenous and exchangeable cores and to a hierarchical organization. this organization is materialized trough a global hardware reconfiguration and local hardware reconfiguration by using partial and dynamic reconfiguration. A case study of a discrete wavelet transform is used to demonstrate the feasibility in task adaptive level considering different types of niters. A platform based on a Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA is used for experimental implementation.
