the field of optimisation covers a great multitude of principles, methods and frameworks aimed at maximisation of an objective under constraints. However, the classical optimisation can not be easily applied in the context of computer-based systems architecture as there is not enough knowledge concerning the dependencies between non-functional qualities of the system. Out approach is based on the simulation optimisation methodology where the system simulation is first created to assess the current state of the design with respect to the objectives. the results of the simulation are used to construct a Bayesian belief network which effectively becomes a base for an objective function and serves as the main source of the decision support pertaining to the guidance of the optimisation process. the potential effects of each proposed change or combination of changes is then examined by updating and re-evaluating the system simulation

the paper presents a cluster-based hybrid reconflgurable architecture for auto-adaptive SoC to achieve high- performance and flexibility with low design effort on a variety of multimedia applications. An efficient adaptivity is enabled thanks to the use of heterogenous and exchangeable cores and to a hierarchical organization. this organization is materialized trough a global hardware reconfiguration and local hardware reconfiguration by using partial and dynamic reconfiguration. A case study of a discrete wavelet transform is used to demonstrate the feasibility in task adaptive level considering different types of niters. A platform based on a Xilinx Virtex-4 FPGA is used for experimental implementation.

this paper presents the design of a novel antenna duplexer based on a mixed ladder lattice topology using advanced BAW SMR (Solidly mounted bulk acoustic wave Resonators) and IPD (integrated passive devices) technologies. the duplexer is designed for application on W-CDMA handsets (Tx: 1920-1980 MHz, rx: 2110-2170 MHz). the design methodology and implementation issues are discussed. A combined electromagnetic acoustic analysis results in a maximum insertion loss of 1.75 dB and 2.3 for Tx and Rx paths. the Tx-RX rejection is better than 47/57 dB.

In this paper are discussed detecting misbehavior mechanisms in ad hoc wireless sensors' network. Term misbehavior is understood quite widely. A fake-positives, communication error, spreading false information are treated as sorts of misbehaviors. A cause of those phenomena is insignificant; it can be hardware failure, environment impact or purposeful hostile action. the main idea of this work is to propose efficient and simple algorithms capable to detect misbehaviors basing only on local community agreement. Additionally adaptive mechanism should provide isolation of faulty components. Using proposed mechanisms it is possible to reduce the disturbances, fake positives or invalid alarms in sensors fields

this study presents an easy approach based on neural networks (NN) to facilitate the computing of the bit error rate (BER) performance of a direct sequence code division multiple access (DS/CDMA) system over a Rayleigh multipath fading with power control error for both coherent and noncoherent reception, by producing the despreading sequences weighted (WDS) by stepping chip weighting waveforms. In this paper, we present an FPGA prototype implementation of a rotator-on-chip (RoC), a simple and scalable novel network-on-chip (NoC) based on the token-ring concept. the reported prototype design is generic with respect to the number of nodes and data channels. We report synthesis results showing a O(N log N) area complexity, where N represents the number of nodes, with a quasi-linear aggregate bandwidth growth. the slice utilization is less than 25% on a Xilinx VP100 for a 32 nodes version of the RoC, supporting an aggregate bandwidth of about 12 GB/s. Moreover, the number of channels can be easily configured to trade-off area versus performance. these configurations have been validated by simulation and implemented on a FPGA development board.

the IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), standardized by 3GPP, can be seen as a way of offering Internet services, such as the Web access, electronic mail or instant messaging, through any access technology, in terms of terminals and networks. this paper presents a proposal to solve the problem of the dynamic adaptation of multimedia services provided in the Web context. the proposed solution is based on the real-time generation of user interfaces conditioned by the user context. the solution is mainly characterized by the approach used for resolving the existing dependencies among user interface variables and by the mechanism for acquiring the user context information, which uses the Parlay middleware.

Secure communication reestablishment together with fast secret materials generations are key points in terms of the quality and performance of secure aero-wireless networks. In this paper, a fast secure communication reestablishing mechanism for secure aero-wireless networks is initially presented. the performance in terms of the consumed time and bit error rate (BER) while reestablishing secure communication using the proposed mechanism is then analyzed and compared. Our proposed mechanism is found to achieve better performance than that of conventional mechanism.

With the advances in wireless communications and embedded systems, efficient storage and transmission of images and video over limited bandwidth is required. Novel image compression techniques need to be investigated;an artificial neural networks subsampling image compression method is presented using the Al -^sAlaoui backpropagation algorithm is used [1-5]. the Al-Alaoui algorithm is a weighted mean-square-error (MSE) approach to pattern recognition. It employs cloning of the erroneously classified samples to increase the population of their corresponding classes. Using the Al-Alaoui backpropagation, obtained simulation results show a faster convergence rate, zero misclassified pixels and an improvement in PSNR around 2dB.

Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) networks based on WiMAX technology provide efficient packet radio interface enabling high data transmission rates. the accurate prediction of path losses is a crucial element in the first step of network planning. this paper presents few empirical models suitable for path loss prediction in mobile as well as fixed wireless systems like WiMAX. Experimental measurements of received power for the 3.5GHz WiMAX system are made in urban and suburban areas of Osijek, Croatia. Measured data are compared with those obtained by four prediction models: SUI model, COST 231 Hata, Macro Model and Model 9999. Analysis is made separately for location with NLOS and LOS propagation conditions. Standard deviation of the prediction error for NLOS condition is the lowest for the SUI model. the Macro Model achieved the lowest error standard deviation for LOS propagation conditions.
