In this paper, we propose multi-tag selection and transmission protocol for intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted ambient backscatter communication (AmBC) networks with multiple tags. More specifically, we propose a frame structure, IRS phase control methods, and the best tag selection scheme for two different scenarios according to the number of IRSs. the performance of the proposed IRS-assisted AmBC network is evaluated in terms of bit error rate (BER) and achievable rate through simulations. With increasing the number of AmBC tags and the number of IRS elements, the performance is significantly improved since the received signal quality is enhanced by the gains from IRS beamforming and multi-tag selection diversity. Especially, when two IRSs exist, it is dramatically improved, and a few tags are enough to achieve the maximum performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Quantum computing is an emerging computing field that is expected to make a huge impact on several scopes of science and technology. In this paper, we investigate the role of quantum computing in image classification, as an important branch of machine learning with widely used applications in healthcare, military, and IR4.0. In particular, we systemically compare the performance of two well-known classical image classification systems, i.e., Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Convolutions Neural Network (CNN), with equivalent quantum image classification algorithms, i.e., Quantum Support Vector Machine (Q-SVM) and Quantum Convolutional Neural Network (Q-CNN). Both quantum and classical algorithms are implemented on available Noisy-Intermediate Scale Quantum (NISQ) devices using MNIST dataset. Performance of models were compared regarding accuracy and training time. the results show that classical algorithms outperform the quantum algorithms for the given tasks. However, we observe that large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computing can effectively perform image classification tasks in the future. © 2022 IEEE.

Conventional M-ary Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (M-QAM) constellation designs such as rectangular constellation, are based on mathematical data and estimated channel models to achieve equal probability of error for transmitted bits in communication systems. However, these designs are suboptimal as they are not receptive to practical channel conditions or system performance due to their fixed lattice structure, and their performance degrades with a higher number of bits per symbol. Deep learning (DL) based end-to-end communication systems can be utilized to circumvent these challenges for better overall performance. Such systems are implemented as deep neural network (DNN) autoencoders, where trainable constellations and neural demappers (ND) can be jointly trained to achieve optimum constellation design for a higher data rate communication system. In this study, we evaluate the performance of two NDs that implement trainable constellation design and compared them with two baseline demapping algorithms in an end-to-end communication system. In the analysis, the NDs outperformed the baseline demappers for higher bits per symbol transmission, and trainable constellation design corresponding to 1024-QAM achieved the highest gain of 0.8 dB compared to the baseline demappers. © 2023 IEEE.

Pneumonia has become the respiratory disease that continuously causes deaths in the world;as a response to this serious problem, a literature review is performed to identify Deep Learning classification models for pneumonia detection with an accuracy higher than 95%. For the identification of the models, different architectures such as InceptionV3, MobileNet, MobileNetV2 Xception, VGG16, VGG19, DenseNet201, NasnetMobile, CNN, and LSTM were evaluated. Although they all show very acceptable accuracy indicators, which justifies their evaluation for model identification, the datasets were evaluated with chest X-ray images in different categories. As a result, it was determined that ResNet152V2 achieved an accuracy of 99.22%, which is considered one of the best models for pneumonia detection. © 2022 IEEE.

In unknown environments, it's crucial for a multi-agent system to perceive changes in the surroundings and automatically adjust its flocking shapes. To address this need, our study proposes a formation control strategy based on Gene Regulatory networks (named FC-GRN). the FC-GRN abstracts key elements in generating formation patterns, such as targets, obstacles, agents, and their neighbors, as different types of 'cells' and efficiently generates and adjusts flocking shapes by simulating dynamic interactions among them. the FC-GRN ensures all agents sensitively perceive environmental changes and adjust their positions in the formation accordingly, thus achieving adaptive flocking shapes. this enables the system to effectively prevent individual dispersion or detachment, enhancing overall cohesion. Simulation results clearly demonstrate that the the FC-GRN strategy allows agents to flexibly rearrange their positions based on environmental changes, effectively maintaining formation compactness and coherence. © 2024 IEEE.

Counterfeit items are a serious hazard to consumers and businesses, resulting in financial losses, brand reputation harm, and severe health and safety issues. In answer to this issue, we provide a revolutionary counterfeit detection system based on blockchain technology. Our project combines Kotlin, Android, Hyperledger Fabric, and FirebaseDB to create an Android app that enables users to authenticate items via barcodes, QR codes, and serial numbers. Users receive immediate feedback on the legitimacy of the goods after scanning or inputting the product details into our app. this data is collected from a blockchain-based logging system that securely records and monitors each product's status changes. We secure the immutability and transparency of the logged data by employing blockchain technology, prohibiting unauthorized duplicates or changes of product information. Our project's implementation addresses the shortcomings of existing anti-counterfeiting techniques by offering a user-friendly and efficient means for customers to check the authenticity of their acquired items. Furthermore, the incorporation of Hyper-ledger Fabric, a permissioned blockchain platform, improves the system's security and privacy. Our research emphasizes the benefits of using Kotlin and Android development for mobile-based verification systems, as well as the potential of blockchain technology in combatting counterfeit items. Our project's results demonstrate the efficacy and feasibility of the suggested solution, presenting a potential method for protecting consumers and companies from the hazards connected with counterfeit items. © 2023 IEEE.

A novel scheme to enhance the spectral efficiency (SE) for an underlay cognitive radio system (UCRS) is proposed. A cross-layer optimization (CLO) of both the physical layer (PHY) and the data link control layer (DLC) of a secondary user (SU) transmission is considered. the transceiver uses discrete Fourier transform modulated filter banks. An optimum scheme for joint bit and power loading (JBPL) as well as coding adaptation (CA) using punctured convolutional codes is employed at the PHY. At the DLC, a truncated automated repeat request (TARQ) is implemented to ensure reliable transmission. A lower bound on the SE for coded transmission is derived analytically and maximized subject to different quality-of-service (QoS) and stochastic chance-based constraints as well as third-party colored Gaussian interference at the SU receiver. the system performance is analyzed in terms of the number of retransmissions and the achievable SU SE. It turns out that the bound tightens for increasing values of the average energy-per-bit-to-noise-ratio. © 2022 IEEE.

LEO satellite communication systems can be powerful and effective means to provide 6G services as a component of non-terrestrial networks. In this paper, we propose efficient cooperative and secure diversity schemes which can provide performance enhancement as well as high security protection. In the proposed scheme, multiple LEO satellites with terrestrial repeaters cooperatively transmit signals using various space-time block codes with physical layer security capability. © 2023 IEEE.
