In this paper, we propose a wideband channel estimation scheme for millimeter wave (mmWave) systems, where a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) is deployed to assist the wireless communication between the base station and users. Based on the sparsity nature of the mmWave channel, we transform the channel estimation problem into a sparse signal recovery problem. the common support assumption is no longer satisfied when we consider the wideband effect, therefore, we design adaptive blocks to detect the support of each subcarrier, and propose the adaptive block simultaneous orthogonal matching pursuit (ABSOMP) algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme can achieve better performance when compared with conventional compressive sensing (CS) based methods.

the purpose of this paper is to analyze the benefits of an international academic project based on a collaborative online learning (COIL) experience. In addition to the online learning experience, the students worked on a challenge-based learning methodology withthe objective of making them addressing a social issue of the real world. the project chosen for the students' international learning experience was, at the same time, oriented and supportive to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4 "Quality Education". It incorporated a case study centered on an NGObased inMexico called "Reinserta", devoted to develop educational and academic programs for minors living in juvenile detention centers or jail. the purpose of this international digital experience was threefold. First, the international and multicultural learning the students will experienced by team-working with foreign classmates. Second, the usage of technology and digital platforms for the students to accomplish the communication and academic tasks requested at each stage of the project. third, to embrace the aim of an ONG supporting a social cause which most of the times is not visible, or fades away easily, for University-College students.
