Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are widely used as aerial base stations (BSs) to provide wireless communication services. In this paper, we consider the UAV's trajectory and power allocation design for downlink communication rate maximization in a UAV-enabled network in disaster areas or the cell fringe. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is used to improve the spectrum efficiency of the entire network, while all users are roaming around randomly. the formulated problem is non-convex and the considered environment is dynamic. Such a problem is difficult to be solved via conventional optimization methods. therefore, we propose a soft actor-critic (SAC) learning scheme to tackle the pertinent problem. Simulation results show that our proposed learning framework is more stable and has a faster convergence rate compared to baseline approaches.

In literature, many feature extraction methods have been suggested to compute features from videos in order to diagnose depression. But, using a single feature extraction method does not generate good performance. Many works have combined features extracted using different feature extraction methods and applied feature selection using Evolutionary Algorithms (EA) to improve the depression detection accuracy. However, with high dimensional features, the search space and computational complexity for an EA increases and it converges to a sub-optimal solution. In order to reduce the search space and computational complexity of an EA we suggest a two phased evolutionary approach based on the Quantum Whale Optimization Algorithm (QWOA). In the first phase, QWOA is used to reduce and select the optimum combination of feature extraction methods. In the second phase, features computed using the feature extraction methods selected in the first stage are concatenated, and QWOA is used to select the relevant features. Experiments performed on the DAICWOZ dataset demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly reduces the computational complexity and converges to a score of 0.8726 (0.9353) for the F1 Depressed (F1 non-Depressed) category. the obtained depression detection performance exceeds the state-of-the-art results. the optimum combination of features selected are statistically significant for detecting depression. © 2023, the Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

this paper addresses designing waveforms for dual-function radar-communication (DFRC) system based on a multiple-input-multiple-out (MIMO) array. the focus of the system is on detecting a Rician target and communicating with the downlink cellular users simultaneously. We establish two hypotheses (viz., the target is present/absent) and employ the relative entropy between the two distributions associated with the hypotheses as the design metric. We impose the multi-user interference (MUI) energy constraint on the waveforms to guarantee the quality of service of communication. To tackle the non-convex optimization problem, we present a novel alternating direction of method of multipliers (ADMM) algorithm and adopt an efficient minorization-maximization (MM) approach at each iteration. Numerical results are provided to show the effectiveness of the waveforms synthesized by the proposed algorithm for detecting Rician targets and communicating with the downlink cellular users simultaneously. © 2022 IEEE.

the popularity of online recommender systems has soared. they are deployed on numerous websites and gather tremendous amounts of user data that are necessary for recommendation purposes. However, this data may pose a severe threat to user privacy, if accessed by untrusted parties or used inappropriately. the goal of a privacy-preserving recommender system is to hide user ratings from the system and yet allow them to make recommendations. A recent example is the privacy-preserving recommender scheme proposed by Pranav Verma et al. their scheme can ensure the privacy of user ratings against a malicious server as shown by Mu, Shao, and Miglani. However, this scheme still requires quite high communication and computation costs. this paper proposes an improved protocol using Secure multi-party computation. the theoretical and experimental analysis shows that the proposed method is effective in both computing and communication compared to other method. Moreover, the new protocol preserves the privacy of the honest users against the miner and up to n-2 corrupted users. © 2022 IEEE.

this paper proposes a simulator for network caching research in a hierarchical 5G network. the proposed simulator adopts a modular structure to simply and quickly test new caching policies, and also includes well-known methods such as Leave Copy Everywhere (LCE) and Leave Copy Down (LCD) for performance comparison. the functions of combining existing caching policies and adjusting the number of components enable researchers to easily test their own caching policies. Additionally, the simulator provides the module to test a caching policy based on the Deep Q-Network (DQN). Recently, mobile edge caching (MEC), which stores frequently accessed content at the edge of the network, has been proposed to reduce the backhaul traffic. the proposed simulator also offers a way for evaluating MEC performance in hierarchical 5G wireless networks. © 2023 IEEE.

In the modern era, as technological advances reshape business processes, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) is emerging as a transformative technology for handling repetitive tasks. While RPA has not yet been implemented at the Medical Center of the international University of Information Technology (IITU) in Almaty, this research explores its future potential for streamlining administrative tasks, improving data processing, and enhancing service quality. the scientific significance of this research lies in its contribution to understanding how RPA can optimize administrative processes in university medical centers, offering a model for efficiency gains, cost reduction, and error minimization. the purpose of the study is to assess the future use of RPA technology at the IITU Medical Center. Key objectives include: 1) Analysis of current challenges, such as manual data entry and staff medical record management. 2) Evaluation of RPA: Assessing its potential benefits and limitations. 3) Architectural requirements: Identifying technical needs for RPA implementation. 4) Comparative analysis: Projecting improvements after RPA integration. Results indicate that RPA could reduce task completion time by 66.67%, error rates by 90%, and costs by 60%. these findings demonstrate RPA's ability to enhance efficiency and provide a foundation for future research on its broader application in healthcare. this research highlights the significant potential improvements in data management and administrative efficiency at the IITU Medical Center, demonstrating how RPA could revolutionize healthcare administration and reflecting the increasing importance of digital transformation in healthcare systems. © 2024 the Authors.

the implementation of network overlays, such as Virtual eXtensible Local Area Network (VXLAN) as the data plane and Border Gateway Protocol/Ethernet VPN (BGP/EVPN) as the control plane for virtual network distribution[5], plays an important role in the integration of VXLAN BGP EVPN technologies in modern Data Centers, allowing a better flow control over the network. With this regard, the enhancement of dedicated networks, and, furthermore, of switching and routing capabilities has been achieved, thereby reducing the costs of device-by-device implementation and management towards a more centralized, integrated system. this paper presents the new network architecture, along with its related protocols, not only for control plane, but also for data plane, demonstrating the need to replace the traditional network architectures and protocols, such as Spanning Tree Protocol and vPC. © 2022 IEEE.

this article presents a study on developing and verifying a computational model of the aerodynamics of a fan with a wing. the main goal was to create an accurate and reliable model to predict the fan's aerodynamic characteristics under various conditions using advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods implemented in ANSYS software. the development process included creating geometric and mesh models, setting boundary conditions, and performing numerical calculations. Emphasis was placed on grid independence and numerical convergence analysis, allowing optimal model parameter selection for accuracy with minimal computational costs. Simulation results accurately predicted key aerodynamic characteristics such as thrust, friction, and pressure coefficients. Using this model at the design stage enabled early identification and resolution of potential problems, improving fan aerodynamics and increasing energy efficiency. Benefits include reduced operating costs and lower carbon dioxide emissions, which is particularly relevant given rising energy prices and stricter environmental regulations. this model can be adapted for other ventilation systems, opening new opportunities in various industries and aviation. the study highlights the importance of developing accurate computational models, not only for predicting aerodynamic characteristics but also for improving the design and operation of ventilation systems. these models save time and resources, enhance product quality and reliability, and have a significant impact on engineering systems. © 2024 the Authors.

this paper provides a method for predicting the energy efficiency of buildings using artificial intelligence tools. the scopes is twofold: prediction of the levels of the heating load and cooling load of buildings. A feature of this research is the performance of intellectual analysis in conditions of a limited amount of data when solving the stated tasks. An improved method of augmentation and prediction (input-doubling method) is proposed by processing data within each cluster of the studied dataset. the selection of the latter occurs due to the use of the fast and easy-to-implement k-means method. Next, a prediction is made using the input-doubling method within each separate cluster. the simulation of the method was performed on a real-world dataset of 768 observations. the proposed approach was found to have a high prediction accuracy in the absence of overfitting and high generalization properties of the improved method. Comparison with existing methods showed an increase in accuracy by 40-46% (MSE) compared to SVR with rbf kernel, which is the basis for the improved method, and by 5-12% (MSE) compared to the closest existing hierarchical predictor. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.. In recent years, Chinese low-orbit satellite communication system has developed rapidly. As a mature waveform transmission technology, OFDM technology is widely used in low-orbit satellite communication systems with the advantages of outstanding resistance to inter-symbol interference, free spectrum and resource allocation, etc. However, for the spaceborne OFDM system, the transmission performance of the system will be seriously affected, whether it is in a civil scenario with unintentional interference or in a complex military confrontation environment with intentional interference. Anti-interference ability is an important factor to ensure the security and stability of the system. Aiming at the problem of narrowband interference in OFDM systems, this paper proposes a variance-based FCME anti-jamming algorithm, which adopts the frequency domain notch structure framework of DFT windowing and overlapping, and uses the variance-based FCME algorithm to detect and notch the interference in the frequency domain. Simulation shows that the algorithm can effectively resist single-tone interference, the bit error rate is lower than 10-6 when EbN0=12dB, and the system performance under narrowband interference can be effectively improved. © 2022 IEEE.
