Traveling for holidays and other purposes require knowledge on various approaches in the selection of the best accommodation. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is employed in the analysis and ranking of the eight accommodation categories according to four parameters such as price, location, guest reviews and facilities to determine the most suitable accommodation according to tourists' preferences. Findings revealed that for equal and balanced weights, accommodation 3 emerged as the top ranked parameter while accommodation 6 has more preference provided to location and guest reviews with composite weights of 0.175 and 0.440 respectively. the calculated maximum consistency ratio is 6.5% indicating correctness and consistency of the performed comparison. © 2022 IEEE.

To help with the fight for order and security the developers decided to develop an Intruder Alarm System using Area Scanner and Infrared Sensor. the infrared sensor used is the HC-SR04. It is limited to a detection range of 2 to 400cm. A servo motor rotates the infrared sensor to scan the area for intruders. Upon detection of an intrusion a buzzer will sound to alert people in the premises. Data and information will be displayed on a 16x2 LCD display. Data gathered will be stored in a 24LC16 EEPROM. To manage and integrate all these components together a PIC16F877A microcontroller is utilized. © 2022 IEEE.

Mobility in urban areas evolved massively in recent decades, leading in a continuous manner to traffic difficulties and significantly increasing the number of accidents, especially in crowded intersections. While much attention has been paid to controlling individual vehicles, recently the wireless communication networks were integrated as main ingredients for cooperation between vehicles with the other traffic participants and smart infrastructure. thus, the fifth-generation (5G) communication technology promises an increase of the capacity for the existent cellular network, a faster connection, an ultra-low latency, and higher reliability. Moreover, device-to-device (D2D) communication is an essential feature when a large amount of devices have to be connected. the main advantage of D2D communication is the direct exchange of information between devices, without having to send the signal through the base station. Hence, this paper uses the Simu5G simulator to explore the D2D communication in a vehicle communication scenario by analysing the quality of the network. For this, the network performance was evaluated by monitoring the Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) and the message flow during the movement of the cars. the obtained results are in accordance with the real-time operation of the 5G technology. © 2022 IEEE.

Traditional continual event detection relies on abundant labeled data for training, which is often impractical to obtain in real-world applications. In this paper, we introduce continual few-shot event detection (CFED), a more commonly encountered scenario when a substantial number of labeled samples are not accessible. the CFED task is challenging as it involves memorizing previous event types and learning new event types with few-shot samples. To mitigate these challenges, we propose a memory-based framework: Hierarchical Augmentation networks (HANet). To memorize previous event types with limited memory, we incorporate prototypical augmentation into the memory set. For the issue of learning new event types in few-shot scenarios, we propose a contrastive augmentation module for token representations. Despite comparing with previous state-of-the-art methods, we also conduct comparisons with ChatGPT. Experiment results demonstrate that our method significantly outperforms all of these methods in multiple continual few-shot event detection tasks. © 2024 ELRA Language Resource Association: CC BY-NC 4.0.

Digital divide represents the difference in access to and usage of ICT (Information and communications Technology), such as internet connectivity, internet-enabled devices, and digital literacy skills, between those who have them and those who do not. Undoubtedly, internet access is recognized as a key component of digital human rights for engagement in a society. To achieve social fairness, overcoming the digital divide is vital. the lack of network infrastructure, or the physical limitations, age, or digital illiteracy of the populace may be the cause of an individual's incapacity to access the digital world. In this study, the ways that practical obstacles in the realization of a totally digital world could be addressed by future sixth generation (6G) systems. the findings indicated that there are essential tools for reducing the digital divide which demonstrate how they may be applied, while possible challenges might significantly delay the process. the introduction of 5G was relatively successful, but due to uneven improvements, those who had access to good Internet got an even better and faster network, and those who initially did not have access to a good network did not see any improvement in this area. the main point is the processing of huge data using various tools that already exist. In addition, the AI tool, which is improving every day and finding unique solutions and improvements to speed up the process. All mentioned aspects were considered, and potential solutions with the further socioeconomic effects are drawn. With the conscious approach the upcoming 6G more, a step forward in reducing digital inequality around the world can be done, as well as making great improvements in all areas where IoT is involved. © 2024 the Authors.

Federated Learning (FL) is a hot new topic in collaborative training of machine learning problems. It is a privacy-preserving distributed machine learning approach, allowing multiple clients to jointly train a global model under the coordination of a central server, while keeping their sensitive data private. the problem with FL systems is that they require intense communication between the server and clients to achieve the final machine learning model. Such complexity increases with the number of clients participating and the complexity of the model sought. In this paper, we introduce synthetic data generation into FL systems with the intention of reducing the number of iterations required for model convergence. In this novel method, clients generate synthetic datasets modeling their private data. the synthetic datasets are then sent to the central server and are used to generate a cognizant initial model. Our experiments show that such conscious method for generating the initial model lowers the number of iterations by a factor of more than 4 without affecting the model accuracy. As such it enhances the overall efficiency of FL systems. © 2022 IEEE.

the patch radiator of microstrip antenna has been getting a lot of attentions whereby it can be designed to resemble some certain shapes including company logo or university logo. this paper presents the design and experimental characterization of a microstrip antenna in which the patch radiator resembles the Telkom University logo. the radiator patch has two main features, i.e., a letter 'U' and a hat-strip, which are separated by a gap each other. the proposed antenna, which is later named as Telyutenna, is designed on two layers of 1.6 mm thick FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate which has the length of 34 mm and the width of 36 mm. A proximity coupled feed is used to excite the radiator patch yielding the antenna operates at the C-band frequency. the experimental characterization is performed for the realized antenna to measure its radiation characteristics. the characterization result demonstrates that the realized antenna has the reflection coefficient value of -20.28 dB, the fractional bandwidth of 7.47%, and the gain of 3.83 dBi at the frequency of 4.35 GHz. © 2022 IEEE.

Sign language serves as the primary means of communication for individuals who are both deaf and mute. Nevertheless, communicating with those who do not understand sign language poses a significant challenge. Due to the structural differences between sign language and written/spoken languages, a communication barrier exists. Consequently, the interaction between deaf and mute individuals heavily relies on visual-based communication. To address this issue, a vision-based interface system has been developed to facilitate communication between deaf and mute individuals and the broader public. this system offers an interface capable of translating sign language gestures into text, enabling those unfamiliar with sign language to readily comprehend the message. the proposed system involves real-time video analysis for sign language identification and recognition, followed by the conversion of these visual inputs into English and other native languages. In this paper, French and Japanese languages are supported through Google API translator services, utilizing the SSD MobileNetV2 model for sign language recognition. the system achieved an outstanding overall accuracy of 0.98, with individual sign tokens demonstrating average accuracy scores of 0.99 for "Hello," 0.99 for "I love you," 0.98 for "thank you," 0.97 for "Yes," 0.96 for "No," and 0.96 for "Help." © ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering 2025.

the analysis of global temperature trends at various regional and temporal dimensions has received considerable interest from the scientific community over the past century due to the growing awareness of the effects of climate change on the earth. the objective of this research is to determine and analyse the trend of monthly fluctuations in land and ocean temperatures around the world. this was accomplished by scraping a database maintained by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) for monthly global land and ocean temperature anomaly data between 1881 and 2020. this study uses the Mann-Kendall trend test and Sen's estimator for slope to examine the global impact of climate change by comparing the trends of global land temperature anomalies, global ocean temperature anomalies, and their combined global land and ocean temperature anomaly records. the substantial magnitude of several statistical parameters demonstrates that the temperature anomalies (land, ocean, and combined) have significantly increased during the previous five decades, mostly as a consequence of strong anthropogenic sources. this necessitates the development of a proper action plan to limit global warming and the design of policies to reduce the elements that are likely to have detrimental effects on the climate on a local and global scale. © 2022 IEEE.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is one of the commonly used waveforms of integrated radar and communication systems, but it suffers from some disadvantages, such as the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). In order to suppress the PAPR of OFDM, we combine the partial transmit sequence (PTS) method with the improved clipping method. First, we divided the subcarriers into several groups by the partial transmission sequence method. then each group of subsequences is multiplied by the corresponding phase factor, and the smallest PAPR in subsequences groups is selected. Finally, the PAPR of OFDM integrated radar and communication system reduced furtherly by multiple amplitude limiting iterative filtering. Simulation experiments show that the proposed method can reduce the PAPR by 2.3dB. the ambiguity function changes little after PAPR suppression, and it has little impact on the radar detection performance. © 2022 IEEE.
